I came in just wanting 10 gladiolus stems, no wrapping needed. The (man) employee was friendly at first, but things went downhill quickly. The way he wrapped the flowers was sloppy, and honestly, most of the flowers in the shop looked stale or half-dead. After he finished, I asked for the price and he said $38 plus tax. That immediately didn't add up. Gladiolus stems are usually around $2 each max , but he claimed they were $6 per stem. Even at that price, 10 stems should be $60! ...so how did he land on $38 and then add tax on top of that? The math and pricing were completely inconsistent. It felt like he didn't really know what he was charging or was just making up numbers on the spot. Between the poor quality flowers, messy wrapping, and confusing pricing, the whole experience was frustrating and disappointing. I end up not getting it and went to another floral shop of course and told the floral shop about Mercado's overcharging! The other floral shop said shame on that place! Totally Agree! read more

Unfortunately, this business has realllly sad rip-off practices based on my opinion and that of whomever I've told about it... they saw me arrive on Mother's Day to get flowers, perceived I was in a bit of a rush, and charged me a whole $70 for something I would have unquestionably gotten half price or even less elsewhere. They did it without batting an eye... this was TWO years ago when inflation wasn't bad, so that gives you an idea. I was itching to leave this review too one day so that customers know what's up here and because people deserve truths no matter how ugly. I ended up paying because I was exhausted and had a commitment and was running really late. I told others of this experience and they felt the same coming here... these people are overpriced and capitalize off anyone who is willing to let them...I might live nearby, but I learned my lesson to steer clear of places that do this to people. read more

I figured I should support a local business for Valentine's Day. I came in to place an order for a bouquet with white roses for my mom. For the price around $57-58, this is what I got (see photos). The guy told me he can make a very nice bouquet. I saw flowers in the windows and pictures online from Yelp and trust that it will come out amazing. Honestly I'm pretty disappointed because I felt like this is not pretty at all. There is no arrangements whatsoever. It felt like they just rolled flowers and wrapped it up and call it a day. The white roses are bigger than normal. The stems are very long. It's like half the size of my body. I feel like for this price I could have gone to another florist and the bouquet would be nicer looking. I could have gone to Costco and buy a dozen for $14.99 with better quality roses but smaller than these. I was a bit surprised to see this bouquet compared to photos on Yelp and arrangements inside the store. I won't be back just because it's not very pretty for the price I paid for. Popped on in one early Saturday morning and was able to leave with a fresh arrangement that was beautiful and served my needs, considering it was last-minute. This is a small, local shop on the NE corner of Alhambra Road/Atlantic Blvd. Not a huge selection but they should have something you are looking for. Def call ahead for something custom. The building itself was probably a service/gas station back in the day, so it has a very charming feeling. Almost 16 years ago Mercado's Flowers did the flower arrangements for my sister's wedding. This year, I had the good fortune of getting engaged and was able to go back to Mercado's Flowers for my own wedding. I can only say it was one of the best decisions we could have made. Luis never made us feel bad for the floral budget we had, and never made us feel like what we wanted was out of reach. He worked with us (me) and the very specific flowers we wanted in our arrangements. He was realistic and honest about what certain flowers might cost, but always offered workarounds to help meet our budget and still include what we wanted. He took our pictures and ideas, and put together a sample centerpiece; he then worked with us on tweaking it to make it even more beautiful than the original sample. When it came to all the other florals, we gave him a list of arrangements we needed with some ideas on flowers, and let him do the rest. No samples, just the confidence that he knew and understood what we wanted. When my wedding day finally came, and the boutonnières, corsages, and bouquets were delivered... then walking into the reception and seeing all the flowers laid out... I could have cried they were so pretty. Though we have always tried to support local and family-owned businesses, getting married in such a Pinterest-focused era, I felt some pressure to check out big "floral boutiques and designers", or spend "about 15-20% of the wedding budget on florals". When we started planning, however, we knew our budget would mean we could not do all of that and would possibly have to "make-do" with something other than our vision. I could not have been more wrong. Mercado's Flowers went above and beyond, far exceeding not only our expectations but leaving our guests incredibly impressed. I left this place really satisfied! I was going to spend top bucks at 1800 Flowers or somewhere else but this place was just down the street. I called in trying to get prices down and the person was very helpful. Even said that I can bring my own vase because I needed to save money. More money for more flowers! The worker whooped up a beautiful batch right before our eyes with the customers preferences in mind. 16 bucks for a lush bouquet?! The dudes sick girl friend would be just delighted! My turn! I chose out the flowers from the refrigerator piece by piece and the florists dude added filler and arranged the bouquet into my vase! He even went back to get more flowers to make the bouquet look fuller and told me he would not charge me for those extra pieces. $26 dollars for a lush display of custom beauty!
