Black Americano with a plain cannoli

Great authentic Italian food. Deli and cheese counter. Best buffalo and steak sandwiches. Cannolis from scratch!! Best espresso! Great cheese selection. Truffle cheese is a must must try.

This Italian bakery-hot table-grocer-gelateria is pretty good, but the food is on the salty side (and I have a high salt tolerance), so it loses half a star: I'm giving it 3.5 for now. Spaghetti with tomato sauce was pretty good though simple. It was on the saltier side for pomodoro sauce. The arancini was good & huge though the tomato sauce was too salty. An order of meatball came with 2; they were huge & could be topped with parmesan, mozzarella or both. They were pretty good but on the salty side even without the cheese. Buffalo chicken sandwich was good. The cutlets are pre-sauced & so not crispy but buffalo chicken is fresher: there was a slight crisp. The bread was slightly crusty too. There's no charge for toppings & you get rapini (haven't seen it elsewhere). It wasn't too spicy. Also had Straciatella & Strawberries & Cream gelato. Both flavours were pretty good, but served on top of each other so it was harder to appreciate them separately. You can't mix flavours with a small order, sadly & medium only comes with 2. Prices include tax. They do porchetta every 2 weekends (e.g. on 27 March 2021). It's usually available on both days, but it seems Saturday is safer. The porchetta sandwich had a generous meat portion which was very tasty & tender. Pity there was no crackling though. It was the same price as the other sandwiches ($10.99). They went well with onions & peppers

Went there this afternoon to pick up some Italian pastries and very disappointed. We ordered 6 ricotta cannoli and 6 ricotta zeppole. After telling the girl who served us that we wanted ricotta for both pastries, disappointing to open the boxes and see cream and not ricotta. The staff was friendly which is why the rating was a 2.

Deli Counter. This is just half of it!

Support local especially this Italian grocery/bakery/hot table/deli/desserts/all things yummy! I'm a regular at Mercato as first Italian place that is authentic with delicious food. We have been ordering a different sandwich every time we go. This time we had the meatball sandwich. My hubby was groaning throughout each bite (lol true not an over exaggeration). They take 3 huge meatballs and then they cut them up so delicately to fit perfectly on their crusty panino bun. We packed it with all their toppings such as rapini, cheese, hot peppers . Their hot peppers are house made too! Meatball sandwich is top shelf! Second favourite sandwich is their chicken parm.

Little gem with amazing food and all things Italian. Great service and don't know of another similar choice in Aurora/Newmarket.

The pandan isn't as strong as I expected so I didn't order it. I ended up getting the black sesame soft serve and a scoop of milk tea, both in cups. Cone are 25c more. Order more than $10 can also get a stamp and you get macaron once u get to 10 stamps. I think both the black sesame and milk tea had intense flavor but they aren't creamy enough and too sweet to my liking. And perhaps too many people order the milk tea so there wasn't too much left by night time and so it also accumulated some icy pieces. Mine got some icy bits. I still may go back to try other flavors. They have few seats both inside and outside and there's a little train table for kids to play too. Nice little spot to hang out during the summer time.

I have been a fan of Supermoon Japanese-style Cheesecakes since I first learned about its original…read morestore in Streetsville (Mississauga) many moons (haha!) ago. It then opened another location in Mississauga at Erin Mills Town Centre. I have also been to that location. Several months ago, I learned that a third location had opened up in Newmarket. Considering that this store and I are in York region, it is likely the closest one for me to get my cheesecake and cheese tart fixes. My original intent was to drop by this store in February. During the Family Day weekend, I had scheduled a pickup order on Family Day. Due to a glitch in Supermoon's ordering system, it should not have allowed me to place an order that day. All three locations were closed for the holiday. I had two folks from Supermoon promptly contact me to determine whether I wanted to do a different pickup day or cancel. Since I was travelling a few days later, I knew that I couldn't devour all my goodies before I departed, so I cancelled. I already knew that customer service would be stellar. I hadn't even set foot in this store yet! Last month, I finally made the drive up to Newmarket. This store is on the east side of Bayview Avenue at Stonehaven Avenue. It's near a rather new-looking Tim Hortons. I find that you need to pay attention while in the parking lot. There is steady business at the Timmy's, especially at the drive-thru, that you are competing with traffic to park across from it. There are limited spots in front of Supermoon, so parking further away is your better option. I backed into a spot. I also witnessed folks backing out of spots and dealing with Timmy's customers wanting to accelerate out of the plaza as quickly as the caffeine from their drinks was going into their bloodstream. It was interesting, but crazy and a tad scary. I placed an order online for four cheese tarts (two chocolate and two original ones) and a Mr Jigglesworth plushie. He is Supermoon's mascot. I have eyed getting one for a long time. At the store, I had the nicest woman help me with my order. I let her know that I was here for a pickup. Online on Supermoon's site, you specify the time and date when you plan on dropping by. She found my order that was ready in two branded bags. Yay! I paid with a debit card. I tapped and all was great. If you do get a cheesecake, remember to tear off the cardboard moon on the box's lid. If you collect ten of these cardboard moons, you get a free cheesecake. I am still not there yet, but I hope to get a free cheesecake before this decade is over. I love the cheese tarts. You get a lot of the creamy cheese filling. There's a hint of saltiness in the crust that I enjoy. I can't decide whether I like the chocolate or original more, which is why I tend to get both. They are delicious and consistent. Mr Jigglesworth is cute. I love his ears and Supermoon apron. He is a nice addition to my ever-growing plushie collection. I'm so happy that I have a closer Supermoon to visit. I hope to stop by again soon for new cheesecake flavours and more cheese tarts. (122)

This place is located on the east side in a plaza with Tim Hortons and a supermarket called "The Ranch". Opening the door to this place you are instantly lifted away in the distinct aroma of Japanese Cheesecake goodness. The cake baking area is open concept so you can see all the magic happening right before your eyes. There was nothing cooking when I arrived but of course they were well stocked up in their shelves. The flavors on rotation included original, lemon raspberry and mocha and I ended up getting the lemon raspberry cheesecake and also a side of butter cookies. Honestly everything here looked well presented. There is nothing pretentious about this place and is an open book. Good solid Japanese style cheesecake. Which I would like to remind folks that I think this may be the only place in Newmarket that makes this stuff! Though uncle who-su may be one of the O.G Japanese style cheesecake places Supermoon definitely has a spot on my list now. They also have limited time flavors sprinkled through out the year so you should definitely check out their social media as well!

Last Saturday, I was in my car, parked steps away from Zoup! I had placed a dinner order. I looked across the plaza and noticed Paris Baguette (PB). I had visited COBS Bread a couple of hours earlier. Did I need another bakery visit? Yes! I had some time to kill before picking up my dinner. It was raining. I drove over to PB and parked relatively close to the store. I walked in. I felt like I was in heaven. Carb heaven. Where should I start? I got a tray. There were instructions to grab a small piece of paper and lay it on the tray. I got tongs and went to work. I saw palmiers. My mom loves them. I grabbed one with my tongs and broke off a curved section. It was probably a first for me. I ate the broken part and placed the imperfect palmier on my tray. The broken piece was yummy and was perfection. I finally understood why my mom loves palmiers. I hit the croissant section. I got a pain au chocolat, which is probably my favourite type of croissant. I also got a chocolate croissant. A nice, older woman started chatting with me. She was so sweet. She let me know that she frequents this bakery often and loves it. I asked her what items she hasn't had. It was two items, which floored me. She noticed the chausson aux pommes that I had on my tray and said that it was yummy. I got the following items: - Chausson aux pommes - Chocolate croissant - Pineapple brûlée pastry - Palmier - Pastel de nata - Pain au chocolat - Curry croquette The nice woman let me know that Mia, who was the staffer behind the counter, let her know that this bakery has Korean owners. Really? It made sense seeing mochi donuts. We both hit the checkout counter. Mia got her order and said to grab a seat. She'd bring everything to her. This nice woman said that she was shy of being 90 years old. What?! She looked great! I wouldn't have guessed that I was talking to an 89-year-old woman during my entire time here. I hope that when I am her age, I am savouring pastry as often as my new friend. Mia was great. She put all my pastries in a box. She singled out my savoury curry croquette in a paper bag. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I got my receipt, thanked her, grabbed my goodies, wished my new friend a wonderful day, and left. There was a Wild game that night. I had a pastry each period. Three pastries in three hours. They were delicious! I will say that the ones with fresh fruit were the most expensive, just over $6. They were worth it. The chausson aux pommes had the best apple filling. It was flaky and delicious. I absolutely devoured the pineapple brûlée pastry. The pineapple chunks were set in custard and were so naturally sweet. This pastry was superb. The pain au chocolat continues to be my favourite croissant. It was flaky and had the best chocolate in every bite. So good! I had the chocolate croissant and loved it. It was fresh, flaky, and soft. The chocolate drizzle had the right amount of chocolate with the buttery croissant. I was extremely happy with my pastel de nata. The custard had a hint of sweetness. The base of flaky. It could have been torched on top more, but I'd get half a dozen next time. I didn't know what to expect with the curry croquette. It was delicious. It had a crispy exterior, crusted with a mix of white and black sesame seeds. The curry filling was full of good flavour. It had veggies in it. The corn and carrot combination worked nicely. I raved about this place to my friend at work today. There's one at Heartland in Mississauga, which is perfect for us to do a run after work. I had an excellent experience. It was nice meeting a passionate pastry lover while getting her take on what she loves. Everything that I consumed was excellent. I hope to get a drink next time and perhaps sit down to enjoy it. I'll be back. (117)
