The facility itself is nothing special, comparing to many other private and public hot springs I've been to - a small pool and a dozen of one-person bath tubs in clothing-required area. Very expensive - day use was $40 per person on the weekend day, and it included only 3 hours..... One of 2 gas barbeques in the picnic area was broken... No towels in pool area... And $40 charge?... Horribly unreasonable, rude, unjust, nervous customer service. We had 6 people in our group arrive and register earlier in the day, and 5 more people came 2 hour later. One of the guys in our team who came later had a registered service dog, for mental issues. The dog was small, well-trained and quiet, not producing any sounds. The hot springs employee was VERY rude in notifying us in a impolite manner "no dogs allowed on the property!". And this was when we were standing next to a parked RV where there was another large dog sitting next to it... "Oh, these people live here, so they are allowed to have a dog" - was the employee response. "What tricks is your dog trained to do?? We do not allow service dogs for mental support, as this is a loophole which allows people to bring their dogs wherever they want!!!"... Well, I guess I should be happy for this person to be *that* unfamiliar with the huge problem of mental health issues, affecting too many people nowadays...... "Can we just lock the dog inside the car on the parking lot, for 2 hours, with windows open and a supply of water? We guarantee the dog will be quiet, or will leave the properly if any issues?" - "NO, YOU CANNOT, no dogs anywhere on the property, including inside the car on the parking lot!". The owner of the dog tried reaching out to the resort owners via the phone, no response, so he had to leave the resort. Obviously, they will never get a return business from any of us. read more

We absolutely love this place, we have spent the last 2 years Valentine's weekends here renting the Airstreams for a few days as well as a day pass when we first found out about Mercey. This place is quiet, there are lots of jackrabbits running around and soaking in the mineral baths is soothing and relaxing. I am an astrophotographer and this place is a Bortle 3 dark sky site so bring your telescope and imaging rig. All in all this is a great place to get away from it all. Just remember to bring everything you will need during your stay as there are no stores close by. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! DO NOT GO HERE! DO NOT GO HERE! DO NOT GIVE THESE AWFUL PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS!!! Yes the tubs are nice-ish and the grounds are cool but the owner LARRY is such a horrible, intolerable person that I would NEVER give my business to them again. Additionally, the Einstein that built the RV slots put all the power and electrical on the wrong side so you're literally on top of your neighbors, and backwards! I am in the spa/wellness industry and have been for over fifteen years and I can tell you with the utmost certainty that this business is going to fail, miserably. I teach classes and develop paid workshops on how business's can create loyal customers and five star guest experiences so obviously, I know what I'm talking about! The reason that they are going to fall flat on their faces is that their priority is not customer service nor is it relaxation. It is about adhering to ridiculous "rules" that only apply to some guests, not to others. We have visited Mercey at least five times over the past year and each time LARRY proceeded to behave worse and worse. In fact, with the exception of Estelle (who is awesome) and another young woman who practices massage, we were treated poorly by everyone including LARRY and JERSEY and we finally started to complain. Our complaints were met with "well, some people just shouldn't be working in the office", said LARRY about JERSEY! Really? You don't say!!! We have visited Mercey with friends and on our own. The last time we visited we were with a large group, about ten of us, and in the evening we had very mellow music (seriously, as in Enya type) playing so low that the campers next to us couldn't even hear it (we ASKED THEM)!!! Another group that was dominating the one-and-only grill on site had an iPod docking station on the table and were blaring country music! Additionally, the group that was camping next to us was SO loud that we actually started (jokingly) calling them the "hens" because of the cackling. We never once complained yet Larry had the audacity to come over and ask US to turn of our music not because someone had complained but because he "didn't like it"! He must have LOVED country music because he allowed the group at the BBQ to play it for HOURS! Also he never once asked the very loud campers around us to be quiet or adhere to their "rules", just us! Our group was a mixed bag of race's and sexual orientations and we all came to the conclusion that "red-neck LARRY" was targeting us because he's a racist and a bigot. Who knows if that is really the case but we were treated so poorly, that's sure how he made us feel! Despite all of that, we tried to (quietly) laugh it off and didn't complain, turned off our music and proceeded to be in bed by nine o'clock which we always do when we go to Mercey. LARRY proceeded to act like a drill sergeant all weekend scolding everyone AT Mercey about the noise and preaching about Mercey' relaxation. Hey LARRY, it's relaxing except for your micro-managing, super-negative, domineering attitude! If Mercy is supposed to be a "silent retreat" then specify that so people are clear and will honor your request. There were NUMEROUS children at Mercy screaming, running, laughing, causing a ruckus and yet never once were they asked to monitor their noise level. So, needless to say we were thoroughly un-enchanted with our experience so much to the point that we decided never to return. Then time softened the rough edges and we decided to go back for a lovers weekend because despite LARRY'S horrible attitude, we really enjoy the feel of place. My partner attempted to make a reservation and then was told that they didn't have enough power for our air conditioning to run and that we were forbidden to bring a generator. Being that it was 97 degrees (in the shade) we decided to reschedule for a later date. So my partner canceled our reservation and said that we would reschedule when it was cooler. LARRY hung up on him but we assumed that it was a connection issue and wrote it off. Fast forward two months later and I attempt to make a reservation only to be told that we were "banned" from Mercy because we haven't fully committed to the "rules". ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? We were banned from Mercy because the owner is a narcissistic control freak who gets off on micro-managing his obviously failing business. Oh LARRY.....my branches in the wellness industry are VERY far reaching and I want you to know that you made a critical error in allowing your own personal bias to cloud your professional judgement. We will obviously not be visiting Mercy again nor will any of the 20+ people that we have recommended over the past year. I live in Sunnyvale, and am used to making the 3 hour trek to Orr (Harbin is too noisy and not hot enough for my taste). I was soooo happy to discover another hot spring which is closer (2 hours). I took the day off yesterday and drove down. The drive is easy and beautiful, and went quickly. When I arrived in the middle of nowhere (which Mercey definitely is), I was pleased to see my car was only one of three in the lot. =) Noone was in the office, so I rang the bell as per the instructions outside. Larry, the owner, came down and greeted me. We chatted for a few minutes. He bought the springs in 1995, and it was completely run down at the time- he only had the benefit of the hot water coming out of the ground. 20 years later, this labor of love is shaping up nicely. The facilities are a medium size heated pool (86 degrees), 7-9 tubs in the clothing required section (I confess I didn't count too well as I was only in the clothing required section to look around briefly) and 7 soak tubs in the clothing optional section. Most of the tubs are original, so have some stains from time, but looked quite clean otherwise. All the bathrooms have been redone with Larry overseeing, and I must say that everything I encountered was very nicely put together. The two bathrooms I used had showers in them also, and were decorated with rustic touches. A very nice mosaic of a rainbow lizard makes up the floor of one of the buildings, and the cabins look very cute. I chose a tub in the clothing optional section and turned on the hot faucet, which Larry had told me was the one closest to the fence. After about 10 minutes, I was getting worried because the water was still lukewarm. I heard the reviews in my head that said the water was not hot and I briefly panicked, but then figured the place has been around since the late 1800s, and people wouldn't have come here all that time if the water was cold. I had faith, as Larry had also said, "The longer you run the water, the hotter it gets". He was right. In about 30 minutes, the water got to a good temperature and I filled up the tub. It felt like the hottest it got was about 105, which to me is plenty hot for a long term soak. If you are looking to come out in to nature and party with a bunch of your friends with loud music, this is not the spot. Consider your venue, people. This is a place of refuge, a retreat away from it all, so if you want that, then you are good to go!!! I had the tubs in the clothing optional section all to myself for 3 hours before another person came- a man about my own age who was super respectful and quiet. As we turned off the faucets, the only sound that could be heard was crickets chirping, and the occasional bird hopping along the fence. In short, it was magical. So yeah, my partying bretheren, save the party for the right venue, not awesome quiet retreats away from it all. For those who want solace and mercy for the soul- Mercey has you covered. Stayed here for one night en route from SF to LA. Better than staying at a chain motel but my enthusiasm for Mercey Hot Springs is severely dampened by the unfriendliness of the guy who was running the place. He was very unwelcoming. The mineral bath was nice and the tiny cabin was clean, but the price seemed high for such a funky place. The bathrooms are in a separate building and no coffee or tea, or anything, is offered in the morning. Maybe I wouldn't feel that it was overpriced if the manager was more pleasant. read more

While the springs / grounds are very nice, the facilities quaint and the birding excellent, I and our entire party and sphere of influenece(s) will never ever return. The owner is an absolute abhorrent gentlemen who is aggressive, rude, intimidating and threatening to women. After spending an entire weekend there with a group and spending over $650 on several cabins, we were unceremoniously forced from the premises by this incredibly aggressive, rude person. Our "crime" - we were in the parking lot waiting for our colleagues who were across the highway mountain biking and we stayed on the property after 2:00PM without paying the day use fee on check-out day. Went last week for the first time wasn't disappointed. Funky but clean and the soaking tubs are comfortable to soak for hours in. The clothing optional tubs aren't as comfortable so bring an inflatable bath pillow! I was really happy to have brought mine. It is a non smoking facility which is a minus for me because they don't even have a designated smoking section which would be better and more realistic. I have been to non smoking places and they at least had a section for smokers. Just walk off the property if you are a rule abiding person. Second is no dogs allowed although the owner has one. I noticed there was dog poop around the campsites that wasn't picked up. The campsites are not very private or quiet and look out along the road. There are noisy big trucks rolling by and noise from incoming guests and the pool. E6 is the last car spot and is a group site that is tucked away a little better for privacy so I recommend that spot over any of the others. After spending a few hours soaking and lounging coming back to your tent for a nap is delicious and I felt like i was in my own little world. The water really cleared my head and brought me a lot of peace. The cabins are spendy for what they are so i would just car camp if you aren't fussy. Although coming when its cold at night you may want a room! Biggest downside to Mercey is lack of communal kitchen or refrigeration except in one cabin and the airstreams for rent. This would make it a 5 star venue for me and I would be inclined to stay longer especially in the summer. Being an oasis in the desert there are a lot of critters around that add to the experience and let you know you are in nature and are sharing the land with them. Love all the little bunnies hoppin around and the little birds who flock to the springs especially if you leave a tub full! Be warned you will smell heavy of sulfur after you leave because the showers are mineral water as well. Enjoy Mercey and leave your cares in the desert where they belong. read more

Yes, it's very secluded and the mineral hot spring water is fantastic. But the facilities are tired and not very clean. We were only there for a quick stop over, so we rented private tubs in the bath house for an hour. None of the tubs had cold water, so we couldn't even get in for 20-30 minutes. No refund offered. For a business that needs positive recommendations, they don't make it easy to give them one. read more

Play frisbee golf in the rolling hills behind the property. 25 bucks a night to camp and have unlimited 24 hour use of the pool and the hot spring tubs. 100 bucks a night for the more private cabins. Very nice husband, wife, and son who run the place. I went at the end of spring and the weather was perfect. I bet it gets really hot in the summer though. Great place to go with a group of friends or a lady friend. About 2 hours down the 5 near Fresno. Perfect for a weekend excursion. read more

Heaven on Earth. We happened upon this place about 13 years ago and have been coming here at least 2-3 times a year, but most definitely every New Years Eve. As soon as we set foot on the grounds, a warm blanket of "calm" comes over us and it's THE way to unwind and reset. The place is rustic, yet decadent in its charm. If you want quiet, relaxation time, this is the place for you. This place is phenomenal during a quiet weekend. I stopped in for the night the weekend after July 4th (while everyone was still out of town) and got my pick of the litter. I opted for the airstream (the most expensive accommodation on the property) and I highly recommend for multiple reasons - air conditioning and a full bath being the biggest reason. But really it is a mini apt so you are not quite exactly roughing it. As for the tubs, I loved them. They have knobs and hoses to fill the tub as much or little as you like. The best part is you have the ability to flush out the dirt inside the tub before you fill it. The hoses have power once turned on. The unpleasant part and the reason why I am inclined to give only 3 stars is due to the lack of courtesy for their guests. On the night I arrived, it was super quiet so I drove my car up to the tubs by the cabins rather than walk in darkness with no one around. I figured it would not be a problem since the cabins were vacant. Wrong! I was stopped by either the owner or caretaker. He told me parking beyond him are for the cabin renters only and asked me to go back down to where the campers were. Perhaps he assumed I was camping and not staying in his most expensive cabin 'the airstream' which just happened to be positioned next to the campers. Had I known paying $150 LESS would earn me the privilege to park conveniently next to the baths, I would have just done that. I sensed a bit of discrimination because he thought I was staying in a tent and not in the $150 cabins. I was appalled even though I was not certain that was his intention. I honestly wanted to tell him that I have rented a &%#$ cabin. It is the metal one that cost me nearly $300 for just the one evening. The drive to the hot springs from the freeway is also a trip in its own. I really felt alienated the entire drive. 12 miles. read more

I was surprised at what a gem this place was. Camping here is so peaceful and you have access to the hot springs all night! Our site had a pair of long eared owls living in the trees above us. They were noisy but adorable! The waters are incredibly relaxing, staff friendly but respectful of privacy. We will be back! read more

Came here last year by myself it's out in the middle of nowhere heading to nowhere stinky road to nowhere. Got there had an amazing soak swim n left. The typical things oh yeah I sat in the sauna n left. It's not an all day deal here cuz remember it's in the middle of nowhere. Came back w the hubs after convincing him to go. We purchased a 2 hour ticket got there at 3 closed at 5. Would have stayed longer but the three year olds constant talking pushed us off. Mind you these are bath tub sized and they are close in a row and there are 6 of them or so in the dust apocalypse . So I'd bet we stayed about an hour till we'd had enough. Showered came home having dinner when I pulled out the bill 70.00 for a two hour ticket. It's 285.00 a nite in the dust apocalypse. For all you fancy detoxers out there . read more

We did go back to this place as hubby promised my in-laws visiting from England for a trip to a hot spring. It was a different experience this time, the owner was nice and friendly. He approached us and checked if we were having a great time. We also brought my 7 year old again and he didn't tell her off this time. I guess he was just having a bad day and getting too many complaints. It was a busy day when we went camping there with the kids.. I still think that they shouldn't allow kids and pets at this place. This hot spring is an oasis but there are some caveats. It is a tranquil quiet retreat, not a public swimming pool. The owner has done an amazing job of restoring the place and is very tolerant in general, but he has to deal with the idiotic general public so understandably lost some patience and doesn't tolerate fools gladly. I took a my toddlers recently and they were so excited with the place they were literally jumping up and down and blabering incessantly. He just poked his head into the sauna and politely asked them to stop jumping on the sauna seating. Fair enough. The pool could be a little hotter, but the tubs are always excellent and a late night silent soak without a soul around before good nights sleep cannot be beat. This is a rare gem on I5 and I am really grateful it is there and is run without a lot of formal rules and regs that ruin most public spa/ hot springs experiences. If you are low key and undemanding, you will have a great time here. High maintenance spoiled middle aged women that complain a lot should probably give it a miss. read more

One day while heading from San Francisco to Los Angeles in no particular hurry on the 5, about an hour south of a bowl of Andersen's pea soup in Santa Nella, I turned off at a sign saying Mercey Hot Springs next exit. Just curiosity you understand. Shields Avenue became Little Panoche Road which led me through an almond grove fully blossomed and headily fragrant, then vaguely south and west into the rolling, treeless Panoche Hills. There was no traffic on the narrow two lane road. Cows watched me closely as I passed. They are always so intent. I think they must be planning something. Finally I came to a ramshackle pair of outbuildings set in a grove of pepper trees and salt cedar. A tattered old sign pointed down a short dirt road which led me to a small adobe mission style office building set at the end of a long ranch house. Up a short incline was a fenced in wooden deck outfitted with cast iron tubs plumbed with hot spring water, a standing fireplace and a shower with a head big as a sunflower. The deck was clothing optional so I drew a tub, doffed my traveling clothes and watched the sun go down and the stars come out up to my neck in hot spring water. That was my first experience at Mercey in the early aughties. Over the years I have made it a regular stop, a rejuvenating way station between the Bay Area 3 hours north and LA, 4 1/2 hours south. The facilities I first saw, including a bath house decoratively tiled by hand and containing not one but two of the world's great showers, has grown since in the industrious hands of the owners, Larry and Grazyna. 30 amp electrical power and sewer connections have been added to the water already plumbed in at the RV/camping area. Artisanal stonemasons have built a large deck surrounding a spring heated pool kept around 85 degrees and nine hot spring fiberglas tubs set in stone for soaking in the 105 degrees mineral water. A beautiful new bath house with a dry sauna overlooks the pool. Swimsuits are required in this area, though the top deck of 7 cast iron enameled tubs is still clothing optional. More rustic cabins have been added, including one with a gas fireplace, one with a kitchenette and one with a private fenced in deck. The newest addition is an 800 square foot family vacation module called "Walkabout" that has all the amenities of a condo, sleeps seven and rents for $400 a night. Construction is underway on a communal kitchen and the master plan calls for the restoration of one of the ramshackle out buildings I first saw to include food service. Mercey Hot Springs is quiet. Long-eared owls, doves and frogs make the most noise here. Nighttime skies are bursting with stars, far from the light pollution most of us live under. Animal trails abound in the surrounding hills, inviting hikers. A nine hole disc golf course challenges discers. Mercey is perfect for a day of rest and relaxation, for a rejuvenating overnight or for a longer stay. Some food and water are available at the office, but it's wise to bring your own supplies. The closest stores are in Los Baños, 35 miles northwest. Children and leashed pets are welcomed. Loud, obnoxious people are not. Woot!! I love this place. My boyfriend and I arrived and picked a camping site. Initially, there wasn't a fire pit, I mentioned this to Larry the owner and within minutes, a bulldozer with stone arrived and they created the perfect stone fire pit!!! After setting up our tent, we dipped into the 80 degree pool and then submerged ourselves in the 104 degree roman tubs and stargazed for hours!! Then we hit the sauna and then the Phoenix room, where there was a warm and toasty fireplace and plenty of boardgames, cards, books, etc. After we made buffalo chicken and corn on the cob over our fire we continued star gazing and listen to owls hooting!! It was amazing. In the morning, we hit the tubs and sauna again and then toured the disc golf course and owl spotted!! Larry and Joe were amazing hosts and we can't wait to come back!!!! We paid about $60 total for the best 24 hours!!! I have been to this place several times and it never fails- Larry is so helpful and accommodating!!! read more

I hadn't been to Mercey Hot Springs in about 6 years, so after reading some reviews and seeing pictures of the place since it's been renovated, I decided to go for a day trip. Since for me, it's all about getting there in addition to the destination, I planned a round-about way to get there and back from my home in the East Bay. I drove down to Hollister, then took Highway 25 toward Pinnacles. At Paicines, I turned left at County Highway J1 (Panoche Road) and headed east through some beautiful, dry, hilly country. After about 35 miles, the road exited a canyon and entered a wide-open valley, the Panoche Valley. At Little Panoche Road, I turned left (north). At the intersection, there's a sign informing me that Mercey Hot Springs was 8 miles away. I drove through the Panoche Valley, which was a beautiful golden brown. The landscape reminded me somewhat of Death Valley, except there was dry grass everywhere, instead of rocks and sand. The road exited the valley at its northern end, wound through some dry hills and entered another dry valley where Mercey Hot Springs was located. The renovations to Mercey Hot Springs were a welcome addition. There's a paving-stone patio surrounding the pool and adjacent to the pool was a patio that featured about 8-10 tubs that you could fill up. The water wasn't too hot, probably about 80-90 degrees and was pleasant. There are cabins for rent, along with tree-covered campsites. Up near the cabins was a clothing-optional area with another set of tubs to soak in. I definitely want to return in the spring when the hills are blooming with wildflowers. I imagine that, due to the resort's remote location away from city lights, the night skies are memorable. Going home, I decided to take another scenic route home. At Patterson, I turned off Interstate 5 at Sperry Ave., turned west and took Del Puerto Canyon Road through the hills. After about 40 miles, you end up at an intersection. Turn right, it's Mines Road, which is 40 miles to Livermore. Turn left, it's San Antonio Valley Road, which takes you about 50 miles through scenic territory to San Jose via the top of Mt. Hamilton. I opted for the route over Mt. Hamilton. Mercey Hot Springs is definitely worth the trip, especially if you plan to stay overnight to enjoy the night skies. The drive out to the resort is half the fun, too! If you go through Hollister, there's a Safeway on the south side to town where you can pick up provisions for your stay, which is necessary, because there are no facilities nearby. Went here for a one year anniversary with my wife. The facility is super relaxing, the water is perfect temperature to soak in or swim in the pool. Two different sets of tubs to soak at, one is clothing optional and the other is big enough for someone over six foot and half tall! Make sure to bring food and water with you. We basked in a sunset swim and soak. We were invigorated by an early morning soak. We soaked in the rays of a midday soak and swim. While you do need to bring in your own food/water/etc., there are some provisions that can be bought at the main reception. We stayed in a super tiny Cottage. Because there are no lights you can see all of the stars and the constellations. There are quiet hours that need to be observed but if you are respectful, I'm guessing you could go for a midnight, star soak. We fell asleep early because it was so resoundingly peaceful. read more

i was just there for halloween with 17 good friends and we all enjoyed it very much. the newly done pool and tubs were great to lounge in. the campsites are very close together and small, so if you are going to camp i would try to get site 5 as it is the furthest away from everything else and therefore the quietest. the cabins are pricey but the one i saw was cute and nicely detached from the others, which is good for privacy. this place is off the beaten trail and the road off the 5 is a fantastic visual feast of moon-like landscape. getting there is half the fun! you can also stay the day, but overnighting it for me is where it's at. and yes, per the other astute yelpers, bring yer own water!! read more

This is a great place to go if you're looking for a simple, quiet, peaceful, rural setting where you can soak in your own individual tub filled with hot springs water, take a leisurely, easy hike through grassy hillsides dotted with wildflowers, and be serenaded by birds during the day and frogs at night. The approximately dozen other people visiting while I was there this past weekend were friendly and respectful, observing the nighttime quiet hours to allow for uninterrupted sleep. Soaking while stargazing at night was a real treat. The disc golf course circling the main property provides a fun diversion, though the course is not well marked, and we couldn't find all of the "holes." My only criticism of the place is that the sauna took hours to heat up to a mere 140 degrees (at ceiling level, not at bench level) and didn't seem capable of exceeding that temperature, which, in my experience, is on the low side. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I had doubts about the grounds because it's off the five, but it's beautiful out there. The buildings also fit the site with a rustic down to earth feeling. This place is gorgeous, but the one staff I had an interaction with was gruff and super unpleasant. that would only be minus one star, but I caught some sort of fungus on my leg from one of their tubs. EEEeeeeewwwww. The doc said it was a fungus similar to athletes foot Obviously they do not clean their tubs enough, so avoid unless you want some awful skin rash from them read more

Its been a few years since I've been out here for a soak, the last time I believe was when the only soaking tubs were in the bathhouse. Yesterday we made the trip out there and it was a great decision! I think the day use fee for 4 hours of facilities usage is quite a bargain! We are very lucky to be located so close to such this place and I will make a point to frequent it more often. After just returning from a trip to Hot Springs, AR I was once again craving a soak in hot mineral waters. This place fits the bill. I like all of the improvements that have been made out here in the last 5/7 years. The strict policy of being quiet on the grounds is very much needed and appreciated as this is a place that you truely want to be able to relax in. I would say if you want to party and be loud, this is not the place for you. The water is just right as far as temp, I dont like boillng-your-skin-off hot and thats not considered therapeutic anyway. The addition of a hot rock sauna is a nice place to take a break between soaking. I did not use the pool but seeing how many folks were in it on a Jan. afternoon, I would guess that it was pretty pleasant as well. I wish the cabins were more in my budget /price range, they are a bit pricey, but it's a short trip from home anyway. We may try the campground some time soon. If you enjoy water therapy, quiet time all in a natural setting, this place is for you. read more

My second visit to Mercey topped the first . Have now stayed in both a cabin and one of the new Airstreams. Loved both. The service is outstanding, the accommodations clean and comfortable and this has to be one of the most peaceful places on earth. read more

There were two sets of places to enjoy the hot spring water. One of the sets of hot spring tubs were pretty nice. The water heated up very quickly and it was very clean. The regular swimming pool was heated and spacious to swim in. They told me they had a sauna too but I never went in. However, the other set of hot spring tubs were DISGUSTING. The tubs were all rusty and looked like it hasn't been cleaned for a million years. There were spiders in there too! EW. And the water smelled sooo bad that it made me throw up. The water didn't heat up very well at all in this one. The public set of hot springs is nice but don't go to the other one. It's really gross. There is really nothing to do other than hot spring. If you come as a group maybe you can play some kind of sports together and barbecue. It's in the middle of the dessert so yea... It's nice to enjoy the hot spring at night since you can see the stars well and enjoy the moon light. But come with someone else because it's really scary there at night. All the bathroom/shower are separated from your cabins so you have to do you business outside in a shared bathroom. If you suddenly feel like going to the bathroom at midnight, it's extremely scary to go out. The cabins and the atmosphere at night is just.... right out of a horror film. I stayed in cabin number 5, the only one with a kitchen. It was enjoyable. clean enough. they had all the cooking equipment there for us, a stove, microwave, even an oven. There was a heater too although it was a bit loud it worked. it's nice for maybe 2days 1 night. or just 1 day. But not longer than that. read more

We had a relaxing time, I've always wanted to go, and I was not disappointed! Very quiet, relaxing. Our cabin was very quaint and clean. Bathrooms were clean, showers were hot (takes a minute to get over the sulfur smell!). We will definitely return! The whole experience was so relaxing! I would give the facilities a five star rating- its rustic but very charming! the baths seem a bit magical (and I never say that about hot springs) and I feel very lucky to have spent time substantively relaxing in wonderful waters and below brilliant starts. I was surprised at how much I liked the individual tubs - such a pleasure to soak in hot, effervescent waters and look at the milky way.... the cabin was nice (basic: bed and heater), the shared showers/restrooms impeccably clean, and the two outdoor tub areas (one with a pool) - just lovely. Based on the facilities I would go back immediately and tell everyone I know to do so as well... However, the service- not so great except for a truly charming guy (sorry I forgot his name) who has recently started working there who hails from Berkeley. Clearly, customer service is not the calling or passion of the guy who "helped" me and I use that term quite loosely. However, that said- I would, and will, happily return to unwind and relax at Mercey Hotsprings again. The area is beautiful, the waters healing, and the spot one of those magical places to spend time. read more

I just went for the first time this month, and I absolutely loved it. It's not a luxury place, for sure, but it was clean, comfortable, quiet, and welcoming. The individual tubs were lovely, and I really appreciated the nice touches, like the cute tile work and the chairs and shade umbrellas next to each tub. Soaking under the stars was a highlight for me, and I also enjoyed a short walk into the hills surrounding the hot springs. The staff were friendly, and the other guests were very low-key. I spent the last week-end at Mercey Hot Springs and enjoyed many aspects of that experience: OWNERS - I really appreciated the way the owners care for the place - I especially honor the vision they hold and how much investment has gone into continually caring for this project. - the sense I got from the owners was they continue to go the extra mile to accommodate their guests, and yet know where to draw the line and enforce guidelines that are there to protect those guests that appreciate the peaceful and serene vibration of the place BATHS-WATER - the waters felt silky, and the pools and tubs were clean - being allergic to chlorine, I especially appreciated the fact that they used a system that allows for very low chlorine levels in the pool, as the water keeps being renewed continually with fresh water being pumped in, so the main chlorination is scheduled to take place at night ACCOMMODATION - clean, practical, comfortable - both campsites and cabins offer unique, serene spaces LOCATION - the place feels like an oasis or island out in an abundance of "empty space", which gives it that special touch of "breathing room" CONCLUSION I am hesitant to continue writing up all these things out of concern that more and more people would come out there. While I am sure the increasing occupancy rates are welcomed for economic reasons, I truly hope that the place can retain that relaxed and serene atmosphere I enjoyed so much. Conversations with Larry confirmed for me his commitment to maintain the quiet touch of this place, which clearly had a rejuvenating and soothing effect on me. read more
