Tried to place an order over the phone. The woman who answered took my order and then told me my two burgers didn't meet their $20 minimum...the total was $21.60. She then proceeded to repeatedly state I had to place the order online or via Facebook. I would have except I wanted to pay cash and not use a credit card to order. I love Merchants Grill. I have loved it for over 10yrs.+. However, the brunette bar maid is, in my opinion, unprofessional. She shouts profanities loudly across room. Her volume and profanities detracts from the working middle class vibe that I have come to know for decades. It was necessary for me to say it's Taco Tuesday. She said no, but when she checked with the cook it really was Taco Tuesday. The black board was blank. The blackboard always states the days special on food and drinks. Blackboard filled out after she became aware of Taco Tuesday. I wonder, is Merchants Grill under new management? Where is the lovely waitress that greets every one by name. She went to Mexico on vacation and I have not seen her since. I miss coming from a challenging day of work and going into Merchants Grill to unwind before going home. I went to a retirement get together here.. Great upstairs room it was hosted in. They had a bar up there so we didn't have to go up and down the stairs to get drinks. I'm not sure how extensive it was as I was just drinking bottled beer but I was happy with what I had. They had a lineup of nice small plate type food.. pizza, pasta, sausage and peppers.. this wasn't fancy at all but perfect for a fun casual group that was really just looking to socialize and celebrate! I'd consider this for a similar event. Will try dinner downstairs in the Wood paneled dining room.. so warm and inviting with its tall private booths and brass. read more

Nice neighborhood place. Excellent menu and the prices are reasonable. We ordered the fish sandwich and a dozen wings with the country sweet sauce. Was ready in 15 minutes and served hot. Waitress was good but overworked- too many tables for her to cover. Great mix of people the represent all of Rochester. Really nice to see. We will go there again soon. read more

Good bar food and fish fry. Wings are decent and service is very good. Decent draft selection too. Outdoor patio is ok, nothing fancy. Very casual so don't dress up! Plenty of parking across the street and if you get bored you can stop next door to L&M and go bowling! read more

I enjoyed the environment and the food here. I had a burger and lunch at merchants grill and both were really good. Up until the Distillery was may favorite place for wings, now I think I'm leaning more toward merchants grill. I recommend merchants for bar food and drinks. read more

We chose merchant's grill because they serve food later than most places. We arrived about midnight on a Saturday, place was busy but not packed. I ordered nachos with chicken no onions or tomatoes. My friends ordered wings and a quesadilla. We waited an hour for our food and another beer that had been ordered the same time as the food. When my nachos arrived the waitress told me to "be careful" as they were dripping out one side as she serves them over my crossed legs dripping hot juice on to me. My nachos had chili and onions. I pointed this out and as restitution was offered a drink. Nope, just wanted what I ordered. I was not willing to wait another hour for the correct order so I was trying to eat the chips on the side without chili or onions. On about my third chip I was chewing and felt something in my mouth, pulled out a hair. Really, really bad experience. Won't be going back. read more

I like this place. It's cheap, the food's actually pretty decent and there are nice flat screen tvs - perfect for March Madness!

Everything was just okay. The best thing I ordered was the garlic Parmesan wings. I also had the honey Cajun wings but I didn't like them. Overall the wings seemed dry, especially for the time that I had to wait to receive them. Someone who worked there also offered me a drink in the house for the wait which I appreciated which made it just an okay experience. What the hell? SO tired of screwed up to go orders. It is almost like the kitchen or manager sees it is a to go order and screws it up on purpose. NEVER had a problem with food or drink or service in house. But to go orders are obviously not wanted. I guess I need to open and inspect all my containers and check the order before leaving. Among Rochester's Best Wings! Easily in my top 5, and wings I crave to get my hands on. Sometimes service can be a bit slow, however I can wait for good food, and maybe its just me, but its a local bar, so to expect the world is just crazy. Also I have noticed service improvements as well as speed and accuracy improvements over the years. That tells me they want people to come back. They do a great job, lots of regulars, lots of TV's for sports viewing too. read more

The food is ok (the wings are great), the drinks are cheap, and the service is good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but it's in my neighborhood so it's convenient. There is some pretty decent karaoke that goes on, they have a corn hole league (COOL), lots of nice tv screens for the sports fans, and lots of specials through out the week. read more

After seeing many Facebook posts about the wings at Merchants Grill, I suggested to myself, my cousins, and my siblings that we patronize the restaurant for a fix of wings. It was a little late, so we didn't expect regular seating, but we still wanted to eat our wings inside. The bartender was VERY rude did not even greet us when we walked in. Never offered a drink or water, and when it was time to order, she never broke a smile or even started a nice conversation. When she took our orders she made them ALL To-Go...we never said we wanted our food to-go. Once she handed my sister and I our food, it was in to go boxes, we began eating and she immediately snapped at us and told us we could not eat our food at the bar because it was in take out boxes...but we never told her we even wanted our food in the boxes! Everyone in the bar was white, we are Black. No one likes to talk about it but this place is with out a doubt not pleased to serve people of color. Her interactions with us, compared to some white folks that came in shortly after us was completely different. The food was decent, but costumer service means everything! Will not be coming back. I came here for the first time since last year and they wouldn't make my food because I had a balance that I didn't pay because my card got stolen. So I had to pay that balance before I could get my food made and the funny thing is that I came in the next day I order the same fucking thing and paid cash for it.
