We made reservations for Friday night, we arrived on time and were seated immediately. We chose the "back room" which is a little quieter than the front. It was very nice; we were able to have a decent conversation with dinner and that made for a wonderful experience. The service was prompt but unobtrusive. Portions are sized well but not huge. I did see some people taking home some white boxes. We shared our starter, entrée and dessert and finished it all. We started with Smoked Trout Dip served with house made potato chips. The ratio of chips to dip looked off but it was perfect. Personally, I thought the dip was under seasoned and light on the trout. The Chef came to our table to discuss his cuisine and we both left with our own opinions intact. The Featured - Friday Fish was the best Bouillabaisse I have tasted in years. It was the Friday Special and it was indeed special. The Bourbon Apple Crisp was to die for. If I had known, it was so good we would have ordered two portions instead of splitting one. The order taker was nice but wasn't involved in serving / food delivery - this is often a mistake and clearly impacted quality & experience. We ordered two starters to share - smoked trout spread & billionaire bacon, the flavor of the smoked trout was odd (some spice/herb was off putting, the bacon never showed - must have been delivered to a billionaire - so we canceled it since we were so done with the bad food and service). Crisp has been on our list to visit for a year. We snagged an early reservation and enjoyed dinner. The atmosphere is welcoming and executed with attention to detail. The owners were there helping customers and staff which is really nice to see. I'm GF and they were very accommodating with a good selection of GF and V options on the menu. We shared The South Wedge salad ( enough for 4 people) and it was delicious ! Our table enjoyed the Braised Beef and Carrots (GF) and the Fried Chicken Sandwich. We went to lunch at Crisp on a Friday afternoon when they first opened at 11:30 AM. We were instantly greeted by the friendly staff and seated. Everyone was very helpful with suggestions. We both ordered cocktails and lunch. The cocktails were okay and so was the food. I guess I had higher expectations. And maybe it's what I ordered. ‍ I would be willing to try it again, selecting a different option. I ordered the chicken and churros. The chicken wasn't very flavorful and seemed dry. My churros were still raw inside. I ate a few then realized it was more than just soft, it was raw batter. Not sure how that happened. Maybe an easy mistake. CRISP is my new favorite spot in town! I've been here twice and both the time the food was delicious! The first time I came here for lunch and had a salad. It was absolutely delicious!! The next time around, I was here for Sunday brunch and got the chicken and the churros - fantastic! The service is good as well. I came to Crisp for a Sunday brunch. I found the decor to be enjoyable, everyone to be friendly, and the service excellent. Brunch offerings included a nice mix of traditional options and interesting takes on others. The one that caught my eye was the chicken and biscuit Benedict. It substituted gravy for Hollandaise sauce, which worked well, and of course the eggs were perfectly prepared. Benedicts come with a side of "fry tots" (my term), which were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, I enjoyed them more with the hot sauce provided rather than ketchup. The only thing that could have made it better would have been the option to substitute other things for the fries. Music was familiar favorites from past decades. Crisp does have a very small parking lot, which can accommodate about 3 vehicles plus one additional handicap space. To start, parking can be tricky if you're on the street. I parked on one side and midway through dinner had to switch my car over and park very far away. They do have their own lot but I think it was only 4-5 spaces. We had a party of 9 but we were served drinks, apps and entrees pretty quickly. I had the deviled egg app to start. It was good! The flavors of the egg filling were light, probably lighter than I prefer but it was overall tasty. I did have to squish the filling down because it was piled so high there's no way to take a bite. I especially liked the fried jalapeño slice on top. For my entree I got the fish tacos. I opted to get the fish broiled instead of fried. They were very good and the fillings inside the flour tortilla were piled high so it did make it for a messy meal. I especially loved the creamy sauce on it. The salsa that came with the chips on the side was not good. I think it had too much lime because it was very bitter. At the end of the meal, our party of 9 was informed that we were unable to split checks and if we wanted to use more than one card, we could only use up to 3. Oof. Overall we all had a nice time though. The food was good and our server was nice. read more

For a last minute dinner post-graduation, this restaurant exceeded my expectations with their customer service and accommodations during a busy Friday night. I strayed from my typical sushi dinner and decided on a crispy chicken and churros mix while my brother got the braised beef brisket with masked potatoes, carrots and zucchini. I'd say portion was appropriate, although it was on the pricier side. The chicken was crispy, and churros were soft, neither stood out too much from your ordinary fried chicken. Crisp made my birthday dinner feel special. I started with the wedge salad (w/o onions), and it was outstanding. The lettuce was incredibly fresh and crisp, the bacon was perfectly crunchy, and the tomatoes, mgt cheese and balsamic glaze all worked beautifully together. I could have used a little more blue cheese, but that's a minor detail because the portion was huge and very satisfying. My entree was the cheesy grits with blackened tiger shrimp and Cajun sauce, and WOW-this was comfort food at its finest. I had had this dish in Savannah, GA for the first time and have been trying to find a place that replicated or came close....and Crisp matched it. The sauce had wondered New Orleans flavors and paired perfectly with the shrimp and grits. I couldn't finish it because I was already full from the salad, but I was thrilled to take some home. The only miss for me was the rose', which was darker and stronger than what I typically enjoy. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the staff (our servers were Cameron and Ryan), and the table spacing was perfect--not crowded or cramped. Even the bathrooms deserve a mention: spotless, unisex, and stocked with thoughtful extras like individually wrapped toothpicks and mouthwash cups (my personal favorite). The drinks were French 75, Farmer's Daughter Cocktails and Pinot Noir Wine. Billionaire Bacon to much with the drinks. For our meal Mac & Cheese, Baked Brie, Goat Cheese & Jam Casserole, Devil Eggs, Chicken & Churros. All delicious. Mac & Cheese was a favorite. I loved the Cheese Casserole. The food is undeniably the star of the show. We ordered the halloumi sticks, crispy tofu, honey truffle chicken, braised beef with carrots, and the grain bowl. While the grain bowl didn't quite stand out for me, everything else was exceptional; easily a 10/10. The Lemon Cake drink was a standout in its own right. Superb, and remarkably true to its name. It genuinely tasted like lemon cake, which was a delightful surprise. Overall, I left thoroughly impressed and genuinely satisfied with the experience. Would I return? Absolutely. And I have to emphasize--the crispy tofu was flawless. Easily the best I've ever had. I also appreciated the thoughtful variety of vegetarian and vegan options. There was some effort into seasoning it and making it like a real taco. I dont think its worth $18 though. Its not even meat lol. I wanted to try the red snapper but that was not available. The catfish sandwich was ehh. That definitely needed more seasoning or different seasoning? Something was off. Fries were yum. For drinks, fyi the vodka lemonade (?) comes in a can. This was my first time here and I'm actually looking forward to the Yelp Elite event here Monday evening. Parking is limited, as it's on a busy street corner. We were seated at a high top near the bar and Bella was our server. She was professional and very attentive. The menu was fantastic and has something for everyone! The atmosphere was very relaxed and we loved the music playing. We couldn't decide so chose our two favorites and shared. We tried the fried chicken sandwich with fries and the catfish po boy with homemade chips. Those chips were amazing. We each had to use the restroom and chose a different one. They were a whole vibe! You may see it on the menu as avocado toast, but I'm here to warn you. It's actually thinly spread guacamole on bread with some raw onions and a side of berries stuffed into a jar. They unbelievably charge $16 and then when I asked for a side of avocado, he brought me guacamole from a bag. Either change the price or change the name of the dish on the menu. In town for parents weekend and made a reservation for dinner. Our second time here, first time was about two years ago-we all thought the food was very good. The table had Caesar salad to start, with mains being shrimp and grits, a snapper special and the heavenly bowl (pasta dish). Echoing what others have said, the pacing of the food could use a little improvement. The Caesar took a good 15 minutes to come out. The mains maybe another 15 minutes after we were done. The biggest issue however, was that two dishes came out and the third one didn't come out for several minutes later. Not a huge deal, just needs a little improvement. We would recommend Crisp for dinner. read more

I have to admit I was a little thrown off by the name, especially as someone who is trying to eat healthier and avoid fried food. Crisp is known for good vegan options, so we gave them a chance and were very glad we did. I was leery of the "crispy vegan burrito," fearing that it was going to be somehow deep fried, but our waitress explained that it's so named because the vegetables inside are crunchy. Lol. I ended up LOVING the burrito. It's a great healthier option (just bursting with vegetables), and I loved that they swapped out the tortilla chips for green beans. My husband got the vegan meatloaf because who can pass up vegan meatloaf? We were warned that the portion is on the smaller side, and it is only a small slice of meatloaf, but it comes with a ton of green beans and a bed of carrot mash, so it ends up being filling. The meatloaf is delicious - chewy and hearty and fresh. We were also extremely impressed with the vegan charcuterie board, made with meats from Grass Fed (epic small batch seitan) and cheese from Spirit and Abundance. It was beautifully assembled and all the meats, cheeses, and accompaniments were tasty. We were so pleased with our meal here. We were glad we got past the weird name and generic aesthetic and gave them a chance. We will definitely be back! read more

Great first experience at Crisp. We were a party of 3 on a weeknight, no reservations. We walked in and were able to get seated quickly. The menu was filled with tons of great options making it hard to choose, and we had to ask our server for more time with the menu twice. In the end we ordered: --The popcorn chicken starter - none of us really wanted 'fried chicken' per se, but since there was so much fried chicken featured on the menu, we decided to get an order for the table; we were all surprised at how light, crispy and flavorful the breading/coating was, and also how delicious the sauce was; we needed two more containers of sauce... --The Korean Pork Rib starter - 4 meaty ribs glazed in a soy ginger glaze - enough for a meal, and one person in our group just ate this as their meal --The South Wedge salad - fresh, crispy iceberg lettuce, lots of crumbled and creamy blue cheese, and amazing bacon bits - I would make this a must-have at the table for all to share --The Clinton Ave tacos with Baja Fish - the order came with 3 tacos, chips, guac and salsa on the side, and each taco was stuffed with fish Overall, we found the food balanced and tasty, and the presentation nicely done. Our server was also friendly and the ambiance was very nice. We ended up staying until closing time, and were grateful they allowed us to sit and enjoy the dregs of our meal without hurrying us to leave. Next time we would order differently to try more of the menu. Now that the kinks have settled this is a stellar place. Nice service and great owners. Brunch is lovely and dinner too. Anything you order you will not be disappointed even the specials. The espresso martini and other cocktails are well made and pack a punch. You can. Ring a bottle of something but there is a corkage fee it's minimal though. I've also been here for a few coursed dinners in the back. It's usually done quite well except that certain courses are a complete misstep. They need to get the timing right on that.
