E X P E R I E N C E Called in on a Mon around 1pm to make an appt as a new patient. Rochelle was v friendly and quick. She put me in and asked me to complete check in paperwork and signed documents online, prior to my arrival. When I went in for my 7am appt, I was 10 mins late (drove past the complex lol) but the front desk lady was gracious about it. My hygienist Tracy was v sweet, talkative and easy to communicate with. My teeth felt v clean and polished, after she cleaned it. She referenced the XRs while she was cleaning. She noted that the WaterPik doesn't replace flossing (which I know but I'm literally the worst. That's just sooo much. First world probs. Ik. just ignore me). So she rec that I do waterpik at night and flossing in the morning. Sigh. I'll do my best.. Dr Sheth came timely to attend to me. She looked thru my XRs briefly, asked me if I had any concerns, then addressed them, specifically, with things I could do. I told her I had some sensitivity in my lower rear molars, on both sides. She said that I should brush my teeth in a circular manner w my electric toothbrush using Sensodyne, rinse with ACT (that she provided in a little take home care pkg), paint my molars with some Sensodyne, then put my retainers on. PS she also complimented me on my "beautiful teeth," and I almost died inside bc yaaass!! whenever someone says smtg, it makes me feel like the time, the money, the frustration, and literally the entire lifetime of orthodontics was worth it (so vain but whatever. fight me). I was told by Tracy that Dr Sheth does prefer a more conservative approach, but is open to my concerns. B E D S I D E M A N N E R My hygienist Tracy was v sweet, personable. We talked about a variety of topics and she was still prompt to do her job. I love that. Fantastic multi tasking skills. Dr Sheth seemed v busy but she did try to connect w me, asking how my day was/my job but I didn't want to take too much of her or the Tracy's time so I kept it short. Lots of eye contact. V caring and seemed quite knowledgeable. The front desk lady, that helped check me out, was v friendly and quick. She confirmed that I had my follow up appt, then told me I'm good to go. L O C A T I O N TIP: this bldg is BEFORE the intersection (so if you pass it (like my unknowing a**, youll have to drive down two blocks, u turn, then drive back 3 blocks, u turn, then turn right into the plaza). When you enter into the complex, Don't turn left (you'll see a set of double doors. This is the main entrance. IGNORE IT)! TIP: when you turn into the complex, drive straight and park on the 'lower level.' (best near the end of the parking lot. Then if you walk in through the 'lower level' set of double doors, you'll see the dentist office to your right. P A R K I N G Ample. I'd say at least 40 some parking spaces? And theyre all v close and wheelchair accessible, to the bldg. I N T E R I O R Interior is clean. Spacious. There is seating inside the office to the right and straight, you'll see the front desk. I didn't quite pay attention to the wall art or anything like that bc I was a little ruffled. I N F E C T I O N P R E V E N T I O N Upon my arrival, they called me to check me in. I waited outside the office before it was my turn to be brought directly into the room. They checked my temperature before I entered. Hand sanitizer was available in the little room I was in. I don't remember if it was available on the front desk. I didn't see them clean any surfaces so I'm not sure if they sanitize all high touch surfaces like computer, light, cabinet doors, etc. But I did see my hygienist open a sterilized package for an item that she ended up needing. They have a cool gadget (idk what its called) but basically its this huge hose that they put next to your face that pulls the aerosolized particles into it and then filters it thru 5 hepa filters (that's what my hygienist told me at least). That's cool. I appreciate that this practice cares. Doesn't hurt to be more safe than sorry right? Also there are clear acrylic barriers placed on the front desk to protect the front desk employees. Love that they care about their employees as well! P R I C E Annual cleaning: included in my insurance. I did not pay anything out of pocket during this visit.

Unfortunately, my most recent visit was nothing like my prior experiences. I arrived early for a routine cleaning and, despite an empty waiting room, wasn't seen until 25 minutes past my scheduled time with no explanation. Instead of receiving my cleaning, I was given an X-ray and abruptly told I needed not one, but two root canals--without a clear explanation. I was addressed dismissively ('hey chief') and left feeling pressured and disrespected. After two hours, I walked out without receiving the cleaning I came for and requested my X-rays to get a second opinion. This office used to be a place I trusted, but based on this experience, I can no longer recommend it. If you do go, I would specifically request Dr. Patel, as she was the one dentist here who always provided excellent care.

Came here over 2 months ago for a Root canal and a swollen mass on my jaw. They gave me a deep cleaning and let me know I needed a root canal to fix the swollen mass and I would be able to keep the tooth. They do the work and load me up on antibiotics. And the lump kinda goes away. Finish out the medication and the lump was still there. I call them back and book an emergency appointment because at this point I'm scared it's something worse... I go into the appointment and the nurse I've been seeing the entire time asked me "why are you here so early your crown isn't in yet"... no you should know I'm here for an emergency appointment and already know why I'm sitting in your chair. They said it was ok and I shouldn't be worried and loaded me up on MORE meds.... I went to a oral surgeon to get a second appointment and they immediately schedule me the next day for an emergency appointment because the mass is infectious and there is no saving the tooth and my bone has started to decay and the medicine is useless at this point. The oral surgeon also stated the tooth has been so far gone they should've never even did a root canal. Now I cannot get ahold of them to cancel my upcoming appointment. I've left voicemail after voicemail and no response. I am not paying $50 for a missed appointment I've been trying to cancel for a week.

This was the 3rd of 4 dentists I visited for "smile consultations". I had braces when I was in high…read moreschool but was never really good about using my retainers so my teeth are only mostly straight. Since then, I've also had 2 professional bleachings (3 years apart) and more recently, a deep cleaning for gum issues that are starting to become a problem. My point is, my teeth look fine and no one would ever have anything bad to say about them, but they certainly aren't Hollywood perfect either. I've always been intrigued by veneers and the way they can improve a B- smile to an A++ smile so after thinking about them, and saving up, for the last 6 years or so (I had heard that veneers were approx $1k each), I finally decided this would be the year to start seriously considering getting veneers and Googled my way to 4 cosmetic dentists with fantastic reviews. NOTE: I automatically crossed off the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry because I knew it would be insanely expensive simply because it's a "name" everyone knows and thinks of first when it comes to veneers. Below, I'm going to review THIS particular practice for the most part and link you to the other dentists so I can keep these reviews as relevant as possible. Also, keep in mind that I'm reviewing these practices for COSMETIC dentistry only. If I were to guess, all 4 of these would be great choices for general dentistry. Dentist #1: Dr. Boulden (http://www.yelp.com/biz/atlanta-dental-spa-roswell) + spent 90% of my appointment talking to the Dr. - $1700 per veneer Dentist #2: Dr. Giesler (http://www.yelp.com/biz/dina-j-giesler-dds-magd-and-associates-atlanta) + spent 85% of my appointment talking to the Dr. + quoted me $1500 total for bleaching & bonding to achieve the look I wanted without veneers + $1500 per veneer if I really want to go that route Dentist #3: Dr. Patel - My appt was for 2PM but I showed up at 1:30 to fill out paperwork, only to discover that the entire office takes lunch from 1-2 daily. A hygienist who wondered to the front desk saw me & attempted to locate the new patient forms without luck so she suggested that I go to Starbucks. I thought it was a bit strange of a suggestion coming from a dentist's office but took her up on it anyway and went next door to stain my teeth for a half hour. + The waiting area is small, but comfortable. There's a big TV playing Planet Earth (yes!) and a smaller TV showing before & after photos of Dr. Patel's patients (kinda gross sometimes) and a chimp getting fillings (??) - Instead of "smile books" like the other offices I've been in, the table here had mostly pageantry and Jezebel magazines. This made sense later on when I learned that Dr. Patel did Miss Georgia's veneers. - At 2PM, Christina, the "new patient concierge" who used to work at "The Center [for Cosmetic Dentistry]", took me to a small office that seemingly had no other purpose except to host consultations. This was unexpected as I had gotten to sit in the usual reclining dental chairs at both Dr. Boulden's and Dr. Giesler's offices. And as the change in setting indicated, I did not actually get my teeth examined at Dr. Patel's (which, in my mind, equals a less accurate assessment of what my needs are). - Similarly, Christina only took 2 pictures of my teeth whereas Dr. Giesler's office got at least 4 and Dr. Boulden's office got at least 10. - I told Christina that I've been really bad with using my retainers so I would like my teeth to be whiter and straighter in general. She recommended that I look into Invisalign for $5500 + bleaching instead of veneers. Umm,...I really appreciate that you're providing me with an alternative to consider but did I not just say that I'm bad with retainers? If I can't even keep those in for more than 24 hours/week, does she seriously think I can deal with Invisalign's 24 hours/day for the next 365 days routine?! If I really had that kind of discipline, I would just use my current retainers for free and get the same results in a year... + Finally, Dr. Patel made his appearance and looked at my teeth pics on the big screen. From talking to him, he seemed very knowledgeable and I got the sense that he is very good at what he does. He said he didn't really think I need veneers but that he would do them if that's what I really wanted (this is a plus in my book because I tend to get riled up when people try to tell me what to do or what not to do). He also said I wouldn't be the youngest person he's ever done veneers on...as a matter of fact, I would be the same age as when Miss Georgia got hers. - I only got to spend 50% of my appointment talking to the Dr. and I found him to be overly nice and a bit fake (we just didn't click). - $2000 per veneer SUMMARY: Very good doctor overall, but I would personally choose Dr. Boulden for veneers based on his expertise, past patient photos, and price. Dentist #4: Dr. Flax (http://www.yelp.com/biz/flax-dental-atlanta-2)

I asked about it, since I am in network and didn't have ant deductible. This charge was for unexpected charges. I thought, what is that, insurance will pay for my visit. I guess the doctor brought a new car, and this fee was helping to pay for it, since I never got a reason what the charge is for. I told them that this charge was not told to me on any of my phone calls, and it was a little unethical. I was going to still keep my appointment, but I wanted to check with insurance, in case there were other charges that were not covered. They gave me a bunch of codes, and told me to call my dental insurance company. I sat down and started to call, and dr Klein came out and said he didn't want to see me as a patient! Left the office, went home and called my insurance to question the codes I was given. Code # 0431 and not sure if this was the correct code of 0750 was not covered. The charge is up to whatever Dr Klein wanted to charge for that service, which was for a pre-diagnostic test. I think it had to do with checking for oral cancer, not sure exactly what is involved with that procedure. He may be a great dentist, I never got the chance to find out.
