Good food but pricy if you ask me. I paid $26 with tip just to feed myself! The biggest problem is the appetizers, which run over $5 a pop. Dessert was about $4 and the main meal was around $12. Granted, it may be my own fault for ordering so much but I like to try new stuff. Food was good. I ordered mini meat pies for appetizer which were honestly my favourite part. The outside of the pies were kind of chewy and the inside was hot and flavourful. The main course did come with a salad which was nice so if you skip extras and just get the main fair price is good. I ordered their speciality Cajun potato which is a baked potato covered in crawfish ettoufette. Good but not near big enough for my taste despite being topped with a single fried shrimp (not a jumbo as advertised if you ask me) and served with a french bread. Overall, it was a good experience and if someone asked me to go back with them I would accept but if I'm the one calling the shots I would prefer to try another place in the historic district. read more

Neat little place. Plenty of room in the dining area but it was already filling up at 1130am on a Saturday morning. Fast, friendly service. Food was good but a little pricey for what you get. That seems to be the norm for restaurants in the area, though. Nothing to write home about, but it is a pretty safe bet if you're in the area. read more

I am a VERY picky person about food! I know when something tastes bad, and when things taste great.... that being said, I cannot state well enough how great the food and service was here! This was our first visit to Merci Beaucoup's restaurant, but will definitely NOT Be our last! It is over an hour drive, but we plan to come back next month! read more

I loved the meat pie!! Crispy, flaky bread with nicely seasoned meat. Crab cake sandwich = tried a bite and it was really good :) shrimp salad was also very good- small shrimp with shredded cheese (surprisingly nice combination), tomatoes, cucumber and romaine lettuce. The dressing I tried was the orange (I think) and Italian, both on the side. The orange was sweet, but I found myself going to that one more often than the Italian. Meh... food was unexceptional. Had their chicken salad sandwich. Croissant was chewy not flaky at all as bad or worse than Walmart bakery. Chicken salad which they are supposedly known for tastes like the canned meat spread with sweet relish my grandmother would serve to her bridge club. Service was good though. read more

I had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful restaurant today for lunch and it was amazing!!! The food arrived in a matter of a few minutes and was absolutely delicious!!! The service was outstanding as well! I want to thank Ms Audrey our waitress again. She treated my buddy and I like royalty. She even took the time to take my leftovers and and prepared them so they would not spoil on my way back home, which was a three and a half hour drive! I will definitely be back!!! read more

The staff gets 5 stars. The menu has not changed in years. We've been traveling to Natchitoches at least twice a year and always eat at Merci Beaucoup once while there. Nothing has changed. There is one lady working there that we absolutely love. She has been there since they opened I think. You feel like you must go there when visiting just to see her. Her name is Audrey. If you go ask for her and get the Oyster Poboy (I wish they would butter and grill their bread like they do in NOLA) OR get their Baked Potato with Crawfish Etouffee on top plus a fried Shrimp. Yummy!!!! The other items on their menu are just good but not excellent. read more

This restaurant was great! The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious! I had the Catfish with Crawfish Étouffée and my guest had the Cajun Potato, both were exactly what we wanted, authentic Louisiana fare. Not to mention, it was served hot and quickly! The only thing they could have done better was dim the lights for a bit more atmosphere and served the bottle of wine we ordered at the table. However, that is definitely not going to stop us from returning in the future! We really enjoyed it and can't wait to go back again! read more

Day trip to the oldest city in LA! Spotted this establishment on Yelp and based on the rave reviews we took the plunge. Weekday lunch. Seated immediately. Friendly and attentive staff. Bright interior with lots of painted wood. Although all ages were represented on our visit it had a geriatric atmosphere/feel to it; you know, the place your parents/grand parents want to go every time you want to take them out to lunch/dinner (not a slam; just an observation). Ordered the chicken amulet with side salad and grilled shrimp po'boy. Chicken was tasty but on the dry side, and dirty rice was OK. Side salad was good and bread was delicious. Po'boy was yummy. My wife & I had occasion, on the way to a central Louisiana wedding, to stop & have our lunch in Natchitoches. This restaurant comes recommended by other Yelp!ers for its meat pies & bread pudding, two things that will never fail to capture our attention - anywhere. However, especially so in Natchitoches, known widely for its meat pies & classic Louisiana-style cooking. We were delighted to find this fine restaurant located on a lovely riverfront street, where the buildings look reminiscent of New Orleans' French Quarter - with second-story balconies decorated with wrought-iron filigree & wide, gated alleys in the middle of each block. The whole New Orleans effect was further enhanced today by colorful Mardi Gras decorations tastefully accenting the antique architecture. We found Merci Beaucoup tucked away on a side street, about a block off the river. We were met by a friendly hostess who escorted us immediately to a cozy table, in a windowed corner giving us a perfect view of the picturesque street. We noticed that the tables were covered in real linen cloths, and the dining room was clean & classy. Ingrid ordered the Meat Pie Plate & I had Chicken Amulet. Each came with Dirty Rice & an Iceberg salad. Her plate came with 2 meat pies, moist inside with a light, flaky crust outside - finely crafted & delicious! Chicken Amulet is a chicken breast, sliced open laterally & stuffed with jalapeno pepper slices. Both our entrees were tastefully seasoned & made for a very satisfying lunch. Our waiter was extremely professional, which is to say he was very unobtrusive & perhaps a bit too austere. He could lighten up & liven up a bit, but service was fast & reasonably attentive. Of course, we could not eat here without having Bread Pudding, which came "swimming" in a pool of rum sauce - an interesting variant we've not often seen. It was moist, hot, and the custard mixture was even & consistent throughout. Thankfully, it was also not too sweet - always a danger when we have dessert - and there was plenty to satisfy both of us. Considering atmosphere, service, and food quality, our overall impression is consistent with that of those fine, casual cafes of New Orleans' French Quarter. If Merci Beaucoup is a reasonable indicator of food & hospitality in Natchitoches, we should take a vacation here as soon as possible.. read more

Food is pretty good but nothing to write home about, no pun intended. However it is very easy for your bill to skyrocket. Almost the entire menu is a la carte, with a few exceptions. Coffee and iced teas are charged per cup, no bottomless cups for those caffeine addicts. Don't go there expecting multiple courses for under 10 bucks. However they make some wonderful soups but again for a good amount of money. read more

I found Merci Beaucoup when looking for a Cajun restaurant, driving from New Orleans to Dallas. This was a great find. The mini meat pies were flaky and spicy, an appetizer I'd definitely recommend. We got the chicken and sausage gumbo, which was really fresh and far superior to the slimy stuff we get in Dallas. Served with crusty buttered bread, it is a simple gumbo with smoked chicken chunks that just fall apart, and a slightly spicy sausage. And you must get the bread pudding other reviewers recommend. It's $4 well spent. We sat out on the patio on a sunny 80 degree day. Courtney, our server, had a big warm smile and was really friendly and helpful. This is a quaint place to enjoy a meal, just 5 minutes or so off the highway. read more

A quiet little gem off of Front Street. We had lunch on the patio, which was quaint and lovely. I had the jambalaya and it was different than what I expected. It was okay - but not the best. This was my second favorite place to eat at when I lived in Natchitoches. We could actually recommend it to people who visited, and the food was consistent everytime we went. Service was slow most of the time. It also seemed like a place where if you were not a regular, you were looked down on. Their hours could have been better. It seemed they were always closed when we wanted to go. There is not one dish I would recommend you have to try, but they did not destroy LA cusine like many places in the area did. A warm, friendly place for us on a cold, wet night. Food was passable, not great. Fruit plate was served with cream cheese finger sandwiches so sweet it could have passed for cake frosting. Crawfish étouffée was large with plentiful crawfish but sauce was bland and thick. Reuben had spicy horseradish brown mustard my wife enjoyed. Apple dumpling for dessert was WONDERFUL! Had mother-in-law with us, who is very picky and won't eat anything spicy. We appreciated the variety here; places like the landing have fewer choices for older folks. read more
