What an amazing Zydeco brunch!! The food was amazing. My favorite the grits!! Biscuit and the bread pudding! Had the Philly cheesesteak omelette and not one thing wrong. Service was so great we had triple service winding up with double bloody Mary's. Those were perfectly mixed up. Ambiance was perfect creole for the zydeco Music. Will be back!! Just a drive

I am almost 70 and this was the WORST dining experience I have ever had. First of all, we were forced to eat outside. There were 11 of us. The organizer of our group made reservations and followed up confirming multiple times. During none of these conversations was she told that we must be seated outdoors with a group this size, nor was she told that 4 was the minimum number to be on a single check. Do you know how many people no longer carry cash. This caused much confusion. We nicely talked to the manager, Alexis, and asked her to make an exception as we were not aware and many in the group intended on paying with a credit card. She told us she was the one responsible for that rule and she wasn't changing it. As my hands were already bloody from swatting mosquitos before we ordered, I only ordered a bowl of gumbo so my hands would not be touching anything going in my mouth. In Louisiana, you should be able to get a good bowl of gumbo everywhere. Gumbo is made with Rue. Rue is brown. This had a reddish cast to it. I put my spoon in it and there was only about 1/2" of liquid in the bowl. I had 1 sliver of sausage. I pulled the spoon to the edge of the bowl and there was only enough chicken and rice to fill the spoon. There was less than a tablespoon of chicken and rice. I asked another at our table if I was being too picky or should I send it back or just let it be and her reply was "Hell No". We had to ask 2 different waitresses to get our server. She did not come out for about 10 minutes. She offered to get me another bowl, but at that time, the others in our party were well into their meals. I did not eat. When she brought the checks, I needed to pay with a card. We waited, and waited, and waited. Finally, everyone in our party could not get devoured by the mosquitos a minute longer. They had no mosquito control at all. I put the passengers riding with me in the car and went in the restaurant to retrieve my card. Our server said she handed it to me. I told her she did not and she raised her voice to me. I raised my voice to her and told her she did not. She cursed me and with a raised voice told me I took it out of her hand. At this point, I raised my voice and told her she did not. The entire restaurant was aware of the situation now. I told her to find my credit card or I was calling the police. She was adamant that she was correct. If she had a different attitude and said, she was fairly sure she handed it to me or might she have accidentally given it to another in our party, I might not be posting this review. The bartender asked me my name and said my card had gotten put behind the bar with a bar tab. Nobody at our table had anything from the bar. When we were first talking to the manager about splitting the bills, I asked her if she understood how important a good online reputation is these days for any business. This can make our break a business. Her response was that she really didn't care. This establishment has a no smoking or va ping policy. Be aware this only applies to guests. I saw multiple employees vaping and a waitress vaping delivering food to a table. I was not the only person in our party with food that was inedible. Save yourself the drive, the risk of West Nile or other mosquito transmitted disease, the disappointment of bad food, and eat in town.

Fantastic atmosphere - an old rustic building, lots of local decor, very friendly table service, and a full bar. Menu has several Cajun and Creole classics you don't see often (alligator sausage po-boy, duck tenderloins) and local Natchitoches meat pies. The Creole sampler is a nice way to try a variety. Beware - it is deceptively large. Looks like a few small samples but it'll stuff your gut before you know what happened The jambalaya is a nice, proper Cajun version with no seafood or tomatoes, but very salty. And the rice is a bit over cooked (gummy). Salty enough to make me think it's a box version. Maybe, maybe not. The Creamy Creole Pasta was very good, with lots of shrimp and sausage on an Alfredo type sauce and not too spicy. The meat pie was a good, traditional Natchitoches pie and not at all spicy. Firecracker shrimp is good, but not super spicy/hot (not what "firecracker" might lead you to think). Takes a few bites for the heat to kick in. The Fries are perfectly golden and crispy, and the corn maque choux is fantastic- great red bell pepper flavor. Overall, the food could use a few (minor) improvements, but the atmosphere is perfect and it is definitely worth the few minutes drive from town. You'll be glad you checked it out.

Driving through Louisiana and found the cane river commissary for dinner. What a delicious surprise. The restaurant is quaint and charming. The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing. I had the combo plate with creole pasta, jambalaya and a meat pie. It was fantastic. Not too spicy and more than enough food for me to share. If you are passing through Natchitoches you should definitely stop!

We finally decided to check this place out after seeing it on yelp for sometime. It's well off the beaten path so I was worried about whether or not it would be worth the drive. The establishment itself is a very quaint and cute building and has a charming atmosphere. My wife ordered the creole sampler which featured jambalaya, a meat pie, and Cajun pasta. All of it was delicious. I ordered the artichoke wontons and the dirty cheese fries and they both were delicious. For cocktails we ordered an old fashion and the Rougarou (their version of a Hurricane) well... we had a few of them. For dessert we finished it out with beignet sticks! Everything was great! This place is definitely worth the drive!

This place is worth the drive. A mere 20 minutes from Natchitoches we got lucky to get a table for dinner. The service was friendly and fast and the drinks tasty and strong. We ordered food, lots of food and all of it was delicious. The jambalaya was by far some of the best I've ever had. The meat pies were stuffed so much I was full after two bites. If you find you're self in this area (and I hope you do), make sure to stop in to check it out.

    Deep fried duck.

A cool little Gem off the beaten path. I had the deep fried duck and it was tender and had a great flavor. The gumbo was good as well. Nice smoky sausage. Worth the drive.

We stumbled on this place, and let's just say we were not disappointed at all! Our waitress name was trinity, she was amazing 10/10. She greeted us with a warm welcome and a southern hello. Asked for our drinks and within minutes returned with our drinks and started helping us decided on an appetizer we had the seashell platter(not the actually name) it came with mini meat pies, fried cheese, and spinach artichoke wontons( it was delish, especially the fire cracker sauce!!). For the meal wife had the Cajun Pasta, wasn't too impressed it was slightly bland and the shrimp, sausage, and chicken was very scarce/dry not worth the 18$ but it was the end of the day so I'll give them a pass on that one. Now we also order Bacon Wrapped Pork Tenderloin, this was amazing I opted out in the corn kept the delishes potatoes casserole and added a side of jambalaya it was delicious my brother had the exact same thing but he ordered the regular with a side of jambalaya delish, no complaints NOT one. Another ordered the duck tenders, another delicious menus item. We also order the hot molten chocolate cake.

On our last visit, everything was pretty salty. I ordered the prime rib melt, but was very disappointed. Even the gator bites didn't taste like how I remembered them. The boudin balls were the saving grace. They were large (in comparison to the other boudin balls I've previously had) and very tasty. The sweet potato waffle fries weren't bad either. The health inspector must not pay attention during inspections. After walking past the kitchen and seeing a bucket of food that appeared to be etouffe sitting on the floor with no lid on it, a cardboard box of baked potatoes next to it, and see the waitresses spend more time circling up to gossip than actually paying attention to their tables..... I will never waste my money in this establishment again. Go try Big Thickett BBQ or another local spot in town. Watching the unsanitary practices by a waitress named Kaitlyn, who seemed to be in charge, and the laziness of majority of the group gave me enough reason to never waste my time having a meal here again.
