I just want to personally acknowledge Shannon Waltermire. I am insured by Mercury and it's a far superior insurance carrier than all others- in my opinion. My family has been in commercial insurance forever. I was advised when I first became a licensed driver to start with Mercury and have never left! Shannon, immediately was professional, very quick to respond, totally on point just after I was side swiped- I was obviously upset about my new car being collided into- Shannon has been sympathetic but not missing a beat! Oh no! What could improve? Is the question that pops up when start to leave a review. Well let's start off with how long it takes to file a claim and how quickly they are to tell you they will do the best possible job to make this as cheap as possible. Excuse me, my house is not cheap and it sure doesn't look like a cheap apartment. Our issues happened Super Bowl Sunday. A flood from our upstairs bathrooms. I contacted a mediation company and got someone here right away. Mediation company kept telling the insurance adjuster that they needed to tear out our floors to make sure that they could dry the subfloors. The insurance insisted on leaving blowers and dehumidifiers for three weeks, even though the mediation company kept on telling them that it was not going to work. Getting mercury to finally agree for the mediation company to do their job was a freaking nightmare. It is April 31 and we are still living in a freaking mess due to the insurance cutting a check with our mortgage company and then our mortgage company endorsing that check to get it back to our bank. Insurance is the biggest fraud their is, they are so quickly to take your money or cancel you if you happen to miss a payment but when it comes to them responding and taking care of a claim, that's when they look for 1001 reasons not to pay out. read more

Worst insurance company. Cancel my plan without telling me. Only found out when I checked for the month. They also took money for a uninsured month. Only reimburse me back when I called and now they are charging me cause I file a reversal with my bank when they fail to notify me and their phone line would not pick up when I called for the last 2 weeks. read more

Terrible Selfish company only out to take your money. They did not renew my homeowners coverage. They wanted me to practically strip my property clear. I trimmed all of my trees up from bottom & thined tops. I have nothing hanging over my house. I have a fire hydrant at the end of my driveway. I have a stream dividing my back property from house. 80% of my house is protected by concrete driveways, walkways and pool decks. My house is stucco. Still not good enough for Mercury. They do not want your business. Do not subject yourself to the pain of eventually being denied renewal. Save your money and build a relationship with a proven quality company willing to actually help their clients. read more

Pick any location they are all terrible as is the actual insurance. My biggest gripe, they say they give you a discount if you have a science degree yet it has to fall under certain criteria. Um if one has a Bachelor of "Science" degree, doesnt that qualify? Apparently not. Waste your money elsewhere. read more

This is a terrible insurance company. They love to drag out paying claims especially homeowners! Worse ever. I cancelled my homeowners policy with them 5/3/2020 and am still waiting for a reimbursement of my unused premiums. They want their money right away but when it comes time to give back they take their sweet time. I called their "Customer Relations" phone number which was a joke and some guy said my refund would hit my account Tuesday. It is now Wednesday. False expectations given as always by Mercury. So glad I am now with State Farm. Yes its more expensive, but you get what you pay for. I want to deal with professionals, not over worked, exhausted adjusters with attitudes. read more

Literally the very worst customer service I have ever encountered, I would give a negative 5 stars if it were possible. After 5 months of coverage I was sent a renewal offer raising my policy rate x 2. I searched and found a better company and cancelled 1 month and 7 days before the renewal was scheduled. I have since then been fighting to get my monthly premium refunded. I was sent a refund check for 10 % of the premium I paid and they refuse to acknowledge their bookkeeping error. Take my advise and look for a company with integrity not these thieves. read more

One of this insurance carriers hit my car dead on t boned me when stopped at a red light. The insurance said it was my fault even tho it clearly wasn't. I am an uber driver full time and have been unable to work due to this, taking thousands from my budget. I am a single mom and now because of their unfair ruling i am unable to take care of my bills and just about ruined the holidays. All because this insurance company would rather save money and ruin lives, rather than doing the right thing. Thanks mercury, if i could i would give them negative stars for ruining our lives. Consumers beware. I had been insured with Mercury for a year since purchasing my new vehicle - or so I thought. Monthly payments auto deducted from my bank account until I switched banks. The company "policy" not allow me to change my automatic withdrawal to my new bank I ended up having to call them every month to make my payments. Over the phone with a live person. Which I did, every month, not missing a month. Until the time of my accident. When all of a sudden I had a lapse in coverage and all those payments were "late." Yeah, your worthless representatives couldn't inform me that because your company refused to switch my auto withdrawal, that I now was subject to an earlier due date? That you were not going to renew my policy automatically as per the previously set precedent? This company is the epitome what is wrong with the insurance companies and corporate entitlement in the US today. Rude and unprofessional claims personnel. I called the number on the insurance card after I was hit by a Mercury insurer. The assigned adjuster did not call me for two days and never picked up the phone when I called, it went straight to voicemail. I finally talked to a man named Mike after I complained to the operator. And he was very rude and he treated me like I was his worst enemy. He was trying to bully me by talking through and over me when I was talking, and said things like... "I don't have to nice to you because you are not my customer." "You may be lying to me" " California law says that we have 40 days to respond" I hope Mercury "customers" get a lot better treatment than me. read more

I had never filed a claim on my insurance for my apartment building before. I was a little nervous about it. The little bit of water damage to my rental turned out to be a big deal. Eddie Chiang was extremely helpful in getting me reimbursement for business income, environmental testing, abatement and also for some of the repairs. Worst insurance ever. When one of Mercury's customers ran a stop sign at 45 miles per hour and totalled my car (in a parking lot) Mercury found one excuse after another to not assist me. After 27 days and I still had not heard from mercury about a rental car a very rude agent named Maya informed me that they only give rental cars for 5 days after the accident. Funny thats not the law. When I informed Maya that Mercury had never called me she replied we didnt have you number (it was on the police report). Maya told me my insurance company would have to pay for my loss due to their client was underinsured. Thier client was driving a 2014 Mercedes how are you underinsured driving a luxury car. When I asked Maya if they were going to take care of my medical cost again she rudly replied "well im sure you just have soft tissue damage". I didnt know that Mercurys Claim Adjusters were also Doctors. By the way due to their client running the stop sign at 45 miles per hour both cars were totalled, we both had to be pried out of our cars by emergency staff and taken to trama hospitals. The emergency staff said it was the worst parking lot accident they have ever seen in a parking lot. Not only did the police name their client at fault but their was a witness that gave a statement and the parking lot camera caught the whole accident on video. Mercury did not even have the decency to get me a rental car. Mercury you deserve all the lawsuits that come your way and having a staff that works for you treat people so disrespectful just makes you a company that people don't want to do business with. I am not one to post but this place is just beyond horrible! My husband's truck broke down yesterday on his way to work. He left his car in a safe location and was picked up and headed to work for the night. I called Mercury and set up to have a tow truck pick him up between 5:00 am - 5:30 am. My husband arrived a bit earlier and called Mercury to have the tow truck arrive earlier. He received a call at about 6:30 am informing him that they had no tow trucks available to pick him up and that they would be subcontracting a company and we would have to cover the cost of JUST $360! Lucky us! He was informed that we would be reimbursed after the fact. To make matters worse, I called to get an update on the tow truck and to speak to a "live agent" and was on hold for 1 hour and 4 minutes and NEVER spoke to anyone! I only hung up because my husband received a text that someone would be arriving within 30 minutes, that would make them ONLY 3 hours LATE! I'm sure my husband who hasn't slept in 24 hours has some choice words for this ridiculous insurance company. I will be discontinuing my home and auto policies with Mercury. read more
