The staff & nurses are amazing. The food service is at best a 5 out of 10 Worst of all, the room was like an icebox! This was my 4th time there since 2014. EVERY SINGLE TIME we had to call maintenance to try & get the room temperature up... and EVERY SINGLE TIME they were not successful! read more

I had the genuine misfortune of receiving "care" from provider Dr. Swade this past Saturday night. He lacks any desire to help patients in this ER. He refused to exam me until I prompted him, and didn't even place a hand on me, check my glands, or inspect my wounds that I came in complaining about. I tried telling him that that I was sweating, hadn't eaten for days, had stinking pus-leaking sores, and red streaks from my wounds, but he was genuinely not interested in listening. Then, he literally waved the otoscope over my mouth and didn't take any time to actually look at me or exam me. So, I pulled out a mirror and saw that the light on the otoscope was so weak that there was actually no light going to my mouth to give me a proper examination. I pulled out my iPhone flashlight to better show him my complaint. While "examining" my mouth and throat, I saw that his eyes were actually pointed in the opposite direction, looking into the corner of the room. I told him I could see this. He suddenly started talking in a bratty voice like he was 7 years old. "No, I was looking!!" I have great vision. I can see the direction that pupils are looking. I think he was trying to gaslight me? Then, he started waving around the otoscope frantically, saying, "Well, I'm trying to see, and I was looking." I think he was trying to act like I was refusing the exam. He also told me an infected lesion on my mouth was a canker sore, when it's clearly not a canker sore. I will absolutely follow up with the hospital administration and file a formal complaint. I bet he feels like he can get away treating people that are weaker and less vocal than me this way. Horrible provider, should genuinely leave this career. No one forced you to be a doctor. I also can't imaging being so arrogant, but also so incompetent and unsure. That's absolutely stunning. Also, when I came here last year for an accelerated heart rate, it took three or four nurses to draw blood from my arm. One of the nurses actually struck a nerve in my arm! That could have paralyzed me! I've received regular blood draws for 20 years and never had this issue. This ER is absolutely the D -Squad of the Mercy Team. read more

The nighttime ER physician (female) is not nice at all. Very rude. Did not seem to care about my concerns. St Anne's used to be my favorite emergency room to go to but since they switched to Mercy it's not the same. The night shift workers aren't very friendly at all. Day shift workers on the other hand were both caring and nice. I'll never go back to St Anne's unless it's absolutely necessary. I was referred to the emergency room after experiencing dizziness and disorientation after a back adjustment for the 3rd time.. The first thing that doctor asked me is if I was under narcotics. I was not. When he got test results he was completely you condescending. The attendant who took my insurance information used her machine to calculate that my fees would be an excess of $400 after insurance and wanted to know if I was going to pay it that day. I told her no. Then she suggested that I talk to billing to set up payment arrangements. Again I told her no. A week or so letter I began getting calls for a payment that was less than $250. I still hadn't received a formal bill. I've never experienced this at any other ER and I will never return to the St Anne's. read more

I went there because my doctor wanted me to for very bad lab results. They claim they gave me morphine which did zero after two injections in my IV, They claim that my lab work and CT scan were normal when it was impossible so my doctor is redoing everything I got nothing accomplished by going there, also everyone in the emergency room staff act like they were having a party in the emergency room it was so loud and I had a glass door covering my room it was all fun and games for them hurry up and get our patients out. I have been to ER twice and spent ten days inpatient after surgery. This is the best care I have ever received in any hospital in 78 years! I don't understand all the poor reviews! After spending time in a Promedica hospital there is no comparison. St Anne's gave me timely kind and conscientious care 24 hours a day. ER was also kind and swift to assess me after a fall. I have lived super close to St Anne's my entire life. I've had many visits there and maybe three or four of them, were good. One time, I had been sick for all of December and part of January. One night, I had EXCRUCIATING pain in my left chest. Because, and ONLY, because I lived so close to St Anne's, I drove myself there about 3 or 4 in the morning. I no longer could take the pain. They did blood work (came back fine, normal) and they also did an X-ray. The doctor informed me that I had pneumonia in my RIGHT lung and that is why I was having pain in my LEFT lung. Anyone could figure out, that doesn't make sense!!! They gave me some antibiotics and sent me home. I sat on my couch for the next 5-6 hours and cried and cried and cried because I was in SOOOOO much pain. I then had my mother take me to Toledo. As soon as I got there, they rushed me back into a room and they started running many different tests, including a chest X-ray . They were very concerned. A couple hours later, the doctor came in to let me know that I had pneumonia in BOTH lungs and also had pleurisy which is inflammation of the tissues that line the lungs and chest. THIS is why I was in EXCRUCIATING pain!! So, St Anne's sent me home.... And a few hours later, Toledo kept me in the hospital for TEN DAYS!!!! Another time, my grandmother was acting VERY GERY weird. Something wasn't right. But because she lives so close to St Anne's, the ambulance would only take her there Basically, they said she had dementia and kept her there for a few days. What REALLY was going on, was that her sugar was dropping and it was making her act weird. NEVER AGAIN WILL I ALLOW MY GRANDMOTHER TO GO THERE!!! I took my daughter there when she was about 9 months or so. They diagnosed her with bronchitis. NOT ONE TIME, did they give her a breathing treatment or oxygen, they did not even send her home with breathing treatments. None the less, my daughter's pediatrician was NOT happy. The pediatrician actually, personally called over to St Anne's to basically, tell them how she felt because she was NOT happy!!!! Sorry this is long. I have numerous other visits that they misdiagnosed. The staff, for the most part, have always been decent. But being MISDIAGNOSED, is completely UNACCEPTABLE!!!! I wouldn't bring my dog there for anything!!!! Please, do NOT go to this ridiculous hospital!!!! read more

I took my infant son here last night to the er. It's very close to where I live so situationally it was convenient. He had broken out into what I thought could have been chicken pox but I wanted to be sure it wasn't an infection. You can never be to safe with infants. I saw the pa and then the doctor. He sent me on my way and said it was a rash. All day I gave him the benedryl as prescribed. It didn't help. Probably because it's not a rash. It is ring worm. No blood work. Just an Indian guy looking at my son for 10 seconds and making sure his throat wasn't closing. I work hard for my insurance and this hospital WILL NEVER GET ANYTHING FROM ME. If you live in the area. Make the longer drive to flower, Toledo, St Luke's, St V's. The ER doctor either can't distinguish or take the time to determine the difference between ring worm and basic allergic reaction rash. read more

I was admitted into their emergency a few days ago. When i left my home, i had a 103.3 degree fever. They told me when i got there, that i was at 99.9 degrees. Impossible. I was too cold for that. I had white spots on my tonsils that were also super swollen. They did a swab test for strep. It came back negative. They didnt do any further testing. Just send me home with antibiotics that arent helping and ibuprofen 800s that i told them i take 4800 mg of a day just for migraines. They didnt help me and i still feel like crap with even worse looking tonsils now. They people there were so rude to me and after begging them to quiet down with how bad my migraine was from the fever, they didnt stop speaking loudly. Doctors and nurses kept opening my door and then turning to someone and speaking loudly while letting my door slam shut. Worst experience of my life. Im refusing to pay them. read more

I have a lot of medical issues and it's used and I really try to stay clear of emergency rooms but when I had no choice but to go in after 5 days of not having a bowel movement They believe they have a crystal ball all they treat you bad bad when you don't agree with them you tell them you have did everything for 8 years it's nothing has helped then they tell you to drink prune juice and get out of the hospital since you can't have a conversation I have never seen anything or ever experienced a hospital And we'll never go back to that hospital again even if I'm dead read more

Quite possibly the most unprofessional hospital in the state. Unqualified nurses who cannot answer questions articulately or helpfully. Nurses do not answer call buttons and do not listen carefully to doctor orders... could take hours to be administered what the doctor recommended. Wouldn't go here again if it was the closest hospital in a severe emergency. read more

The night shift treated me terrible. Had a great pre op and register staff. But never spent the night here. Omg, they had no bed ext, knew I was tall so they knew I'd need one 2 wks before surgery. It was a terrible night. The nurses didn't believe I had numb hands. Oh he's just calling us, we'll no I needed to move and needed meds. Finally I broke down and cried the rest of the night. Just wanted to go home. Was suppose to be 2 .days stay. I begged dr.to discharge me that morning. I couldn't get out soon enough. I will never walk thru their doors again. Have had tests done there, cause is close to where I live. Generally they get testing results to my pcp in timely manor, However, I was being worked up for possible heart related issues, to which I did have symptoms. 3 weeks later, no reports sent to my PCP! Tried to call myself to talk to someone in file room...phone rings & rings...no answer. My PCP is not a Mercy physician, so does not have access to their system. Friendly staff, but I think they've made too many cut backs to follow through. read more

Today is my last day dealing with Mercy Health. I was scheduled for a procedure at St Anne hospital with a 7:30am check in time. I called yesterday to verify that there is valet service and it is open that early. I arrived at the main entrance at 7am. Big sign says "Valet open 6am - 5pm". But no valet. No valet stand. No valet activity. I waited 10 minutes before calling the hospital main number. I explained that I was scheduled for a procedure, am not physically able to walk from the parking area and I had been waiting for the valet for 10 minutes. The woman that answered responded "I don't think it's open this early". "No, maam", I responded, "the sign says valet is open at 6am. It is now after 7." She puts me on hold and returns to say maybe he is parking a car. Ten MORE minutes later there is still no valet! I called again. The response I got this time was "I don't know what to tell you." I replied, "Well, ma'am, if there is supposed to be an employee out here to valet cars and I'm telling you I have been sitting here for more than 20 minutes and there is no one here ... you might want to check on his safety!" "Ok," she says, "I will alert security". Seven minutes later I see a security guard wander up to the window, peer out for a few seconds, then turn and walk away. I waited for 32 minutes for a hospital advertised service that I required in order to access health care. Not only does St Anne's not care about their patients, apparently they don't care about their employees either! I sincerely hope that the valet employee just took an extra long break and isn't injured or worse. Unfortunately, your employer doesn't care either way. read more

I've been here 3 times because it is close to my job and each time I've been they got me in fast left me alone in a room for HOURS waiting for results just for them to tell me they don't know and send me home. No exaggeration the shortest amount of time I've ever spent waiting here was 4 hours. That's the SHORTEST amount of time. 2 of the times I went were for pregnancy issues and all they did was take a pee sample and not much more OH but they did make sure I paid them 300 cash upfront last time while waiting for them to tell me something. (Stupid on my behalf because at the time they scared me into paying and I wasn't aware that they couldn't deny me help wether I paid them upfront or not) JUST DONT COME HERE UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO read more

I cut my finger to the point I could not get the bleeding to stop. I went to ER on 4-1 around 12:30. The staff was so friendly & caring. I needed 4 stitches. I totally and heartily disagree with Taylor D's review! It is unfortunate that Taylor had this experience, but believe me--it is NOT the norm here! My husband and I have lived near St. Anne's for nearly 9 years, and over the years we've had diagnostic procedures, I've had my yearly mammogram there, and my husband was hospitalized there a few years ago for several days. Not only are the nurses/doctors knowledgeable, but everyone there is so friendly and attentive, and I am more than happy to recommend St. Anne's to anyone! read more

I recently went in to er saturday for major pain in my groin and back area they got me right in cat scan by janet my nurse was logan! They hooked me up with pain meds! I never had to wait they were right on it the whole time! The er doctor was awesome! read more

Refuse to refer to this as a hospital because they are an embarrassment to the medical community.I have had several frustrating experiences here with family members o er the yearsand yesterday was the last. I drove my adult son to the er because he was I believed suffering from a anal abscess. I know gross. I would have made a longer drive elsewhere but he could not sit without extreme pain. The doctor there, i think he was a doctor said it could not be drained because it was on the inside. Gave him a script for antibiotics and said go to work the next day. REALLY! Job is all day standing. Long story short took him to a real doctor who took care of problem and said this should have done in the first place. Their incompetence is astounding. read more

In August of 2018, I had back surgery at St. Anne's hospital, Toledo. Somehow the drainage tube, in my back was dislodged, when I was transferred from the recovery room to my patient room. From 4 pm to 8 or 9 pm, I was having extreme pain and a feeling of pressure around the surgery site. I keep telling my nurse something was wrong! The nurse ignored what I was telling her and kept giving me more morphine to shut me up! She must have thought I was just a whiney patient. Finally after 4 or 5 hours, every nerve in my body exploded with pain, from the top of my head to my toes, I felt like I was being electrocuted, and curled up in a fetal ball, crying out! Only then did the nurse call my surgeon, and I was rushed to X-Ray for an MRI. A huge blood clot had formed over the surgical site and I was taken back to surgery. Since the floor nurses had ignored me for so long, a lot of damage was done. I woke up from my second surgery, paralyzed from the waist down. None of this was my surgeons fault, it was all due to poor nursing care!!! I worked 40 years in healthcare and I Never ignored what my patients were telling me! Instead of going home the next day, I spent over 2 months in rehab, and then finally returned home in a wheelchair. It took over a year and a half of rehab to be able to walk again without support. I have told everyone I can, don't go to St. Anne's! read more

I was seen in the ER on sat 2/6/2016 and was treated terrible. I arrived with c/o dizziness and possible UTI, while waiting to be seen I had some chest discomfort. Well, the charge nurse was then called who did and EKG.(appropriate) he appeared to be irritated, and probably assumed I was faking as he snapped "it looks fine" as he yanked the machine and left the room. The urine sample that I was asked to give sat at my bedside for about 90 minutes before it was taken for processing. No one did orthostatic blood pressures, which I believe is a universal standard. The labs showed that I was "dry" and get this, the IV ran for maybe 45 minutes total during my 7 hour stay in the ER. What is most disturbing, is while waiting, I could hear the nursing staff mock patient's and display the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL behavior I have seen here. One nurse was making fun of a patient who was overweight, this patient was said to have fallen while getting an x-ray (they were upset that they had to go "get her up") one nurse shouts "is she big" the other replied "yes". They were also noted discussing an almost $5,000 bill that a patient had racked up and stated what this person did for a living. I have been a nurse for almost 17 years, ( they didn't know this) but never should any health care professional behave this way in front of other patients. I admit, there are times of maybe frustration that we have to vent to one another on our healthcare team, but never should it be done in view or ear shot of other patients. (The nurse who gave me my nausea medicine was nice) Then when I was ready for discharge, the same charge nurse (Rob) came in to speed up my exit as then needed the bed for another patient. He offered me a wheel chair, I told him I would be fine with out it. I then went to use the restroom and who was waiting for me outside the restroom door. Mr. Impatient charge nurse!!! I had my nursing clinical rotation at St. Anne and I actually enjoyed it. The nurses on the floor were wonderful and helpful. Not sure what happen to the ER staff. I guess I picked the wrong day to get sick!!! read more

The nurses are fantastic at St. Anne's. They are willing to get you anything, explain anything.. teach you things that you want to know. Amazing. Some of the friendliest people are there at that hospital including the nurses but everyone else. My husband likes their food. He has been there many times due to a chronic illness. read more

Had back surgery on 12-12-16 at St Anne's. Surgery team was fantastic. Recovery personnel was great. Watch out if you have to spend any more time there. Spent 3 days after surgery due to complications. First 2 shifts of nurses were good, but after that it was down hill. Was made to feel like I was an inconvenience if I requested water. Physical therapy showed up when and if they wanted to. ( guess they never wanted to ). Respiratory therapist showed up . But I almost had to go to them. I was having trouble breathing one night and to the RN on duty and she checked me and said that I could use a treatment, they showed up about 5 hours later. So if you have outpatient services done go to St Anne's. Anything requiring a stay, I would look at other0 options. read more

Worst Place ever!!!!! Very disrespectful. Would give zero stars if I could. My husband went into the ER SOB and weak and he is young, nonsmoker. He couldn't even stand. In the ED they wouldn't put oxygen on him. The doctor said his oxygen sat was fine. I am a nurse myself and told the doctor you can put oxygen on someone for comfort if they feel like they cannot breath. They put the cannula on him and then didn't turn the oxygen on!!! They came to get him for an xray with a wheelchair. Considering that it took 3 people to help him onto the ER stretcher, I asked if they should not just take him on the stretcher. The tech insisted so it took both myself and the tech to flop (literally) my husband into the wheelchair. The tech then left the room for a moment and apparently went and got the physician who came in and said in a haughty tone "I hear we are having trouble getting him to xray" and started wheeling him out she then held up a finger and told me in a nasty tone without looking at me "You can stay here". My husband came back from the xray and said they tried to make him stand for it and he almost fell to the floor and that the tech had to catch him. Finally the ER doc comes in and her tone completely changed, "ummm your husband is in Rhabdomylosis" (muscle injury that can cause the kidneys to fail due to release of protein build up in the blood) I was like yeah he wasn't faking it!!! They admitted him and we were doing the admission and they had him having a medical history that was completely wrong. They said he had hypothyroidism and a prolapsed mitral valve in his heart. I told the nurse he better not have because no one ever disclosed or treated him for it!!! The nurse he had, had the personality of a wet washcloth. The lung doctor they consulted, was a joke. I asked him to explain what he felt about the CT scan they did on him, he printed out the results, handed them to me then walked out of the room. I had to get a physician I knew from work who happened to be there permission to look in the chart to tell me what was going on because the nurse wouldn't update me. Then we found they ordered him medications for his hypothyroidism that he doesn't have. To add insult to injury St. Anne's is now charging $27K for the ONE night stay for IV fluids and antibiotics. Claiming he was in the ICU when he was on the med/surg unit. Conveniently they waited to send me the bill until after my 6 month window to appeal it with the insurance company (6 months from approval date for inpatient stay). This is a hospital stay from 2014!!!!!! At least I had insurance coverage, but still. I had to call the insurance and ask them how this charge did not raise a red flag? Surgeries with multiple day stays don't cost $27 K!! NEVER AGAIN will I EVER take ANYONE to this hospital!!!! read more

I took my daughter to the ER on W. Sylvania in the early morning hours. The staff was good with her. I didn't have any complaints with the care but I just received a collection notice from Riverwood Emergency Services. Not only did they not bill my insurance, they never sent me a bill but they did send me to collections! After two hours of phone calls (not to Mercy directly because it's not Mercy billing) I finally found Riverwood Emergency Services that REFUSED to take my bill out of collections even though they are responsible for not billing my insurance or sending me a bill. Lesson learned....make sure they take your insurance information!!!! read more

Wow, what a great experience! I was a patient at St Anne's in late December 2009, for a hip replacement. Private room (isn't it a pain when you're sick or in pain to have to share with a stranger?). The care was great-starting with all the pre-registration business, which they made almost fun. The RN's that took care of me were among the best I've EVER had, and all of the other folks there:Physical thera[py, Occupational therapy, Food service...were so good as to amaze me! I wouldn't want to go anywhere else after my visit. read more

This hospital placed my very ill 87 year old mother who had serious surgery on "observation status" which caused her to not be able to get medicare benefits for the follow up skilled nursing care she required. They utilize an outside agency to classify patients and do not care what the admitting doctor believes is right for the patient. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Sherrod Brown has legislation proposed to stop this type of behavior. Wish I knew all of this BEFORE my mom's surgery. read more
