The care team sucks all the way from the er to upstairs. These ppl have nothing but negative things to say they dont hear out the patient and they will redline you simply because you dont want to follow their orders. The run around the hallwall screaming amd laughing at eachothwr most nights. Ive also been told there's nothing this hospital can do for me. The staff at both units provided outstanding competent and compassionate care. My wife has a high deductible, high premium insurance plan. The only thing covered 100% is her annual well-care appointment. She has been in the Mercy system for over 30 years. At her appointment in July of 2024, her doctor informed her that he would be retiring and would schedule her 2025 well-care with another Mercy doctor. Imagine our surprise when after her 2025 visit we received a doctor's bill for $119.89 and a lab bill for her annual blood work for $760.14. Thinking there was a problem with her insurance she called her agent and was assured the policy covered well care 100%. After multiple phone calls and a visit back to the doctor's office she finally was informed the appointment that was made a year in advance by the hospital was NOT A WELL-CARE but a NEW patient appointment. Hence, they claim the charges were appropriate. She has been in the Mercy system her whole life yet she is a NEW patient to a doctor she had no voice in choosing. For a Catholic hospital that is suppose to be "not for profit" they sure seem to be making unreasonable efforts to stockpile earnings. Making matter worse while trying to get a satisfactory explanation, this "charitable" institution have turned the account over to collection. Hi my name is Keena Williams and on 12/26/24 I went to the Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri for high blood pressure and increased swelling. I was six days postpartum from a csection. I brought my son with me as it was late and I thought it would be in and out of the ER. After checking my blood pressure the doctor told me I would most likely be admitted and someone would need to come get my son as I cannot watch him and be treated. It was 2am, no one was able to come get my son, and my mother was on duty at her hospital that was 45 minuets away. I told the doctor this, and he knew I delivered at her place of employment as well. This doctor told me to make a decision, if I left he would act as if he never knew I planned on leaving. He told me "you seem to be a very smart girl, with a level head, I know you will do nothing to put yourself or your son in harms way. If you are more comfortable going to Progress West (O'Fallon) then I suggest you get up and leave. I will act as if we never had this conversation. Just get up and go." I then put my diaper bag in my son's stroller and walked out of the ER as if nothing had happened. The only thing that occured during this visit was looking at my swollen feet, and checking my blood pressure. I am now being charged, and having to dispute a $250 ER visit where I 1. Was not treated 2. Was told to leave by a licensed doctor 3. Received care elsewhere I will not be paying a bill where I received no treatment. read more

I went to the ER in February of 2021. I had had a C section and the wound had torn open and was weeping cups of fluid. A pad bandage would be filled every 30 minutes. I was in and out, dissociating from the pain and the fever. The ER refused to treat, saying this was normal for a Csection. They consulted with the OBGYN on the floor and told me to go home. It does not take a brain surgeon to realize that a wound reopening is a trip to the ER and that it reopening with fluid means there might be an infection. The only reason I am alive is because my other doctor is not affiliated with Mercy Washington hospital, and he immediately admitted to the hospital. I am lucky he had an emergency appointment and I am lucky I am still around for my child. If it had waited another few days, I would be dead. Thank you Mercy Washington for your incompetence and your callousness with lives. I still have issues from the infection that you refused to treat. And if you are pregnant and you find yourself with wounds reopening and liquid pouring out, this is not normal and do not let the doctors and nurses gaslight you like they did me. Type of care, they do not know how to treat veterans and the proper questionsto ask. As well as what to do and not do when we have our service dogs with us. The so called safety officer in the er does not know proper procedures in not speaking to said service dog and when requested not to he copped an attitude with myself and my care giver causing greater stress upon the veteran. In the end mass chaos and rooms not being ready, too many people in a room caused my service dog to get hurt, my care giver to be bitten and immense stress with a 7 day confinement of said service dog on the owner of the service dog. The stress and anxiety that this er has caused me along with the depression of not having my life savingequipment with me has pushed me to counselor and psychologist appointments as well as the cost of taking care of my caregiver. I will never be coming back as a patient to this hospital. I would rather drive the hour to the VA hospital. read more

We had to take my husband to the ER at Mercy Hospital, Washington MO this morning. Every one there were kind and compassionate. The Doctor, Dr. Scurrrato asked lots of good questions and listened carefully to my husband. We really appreciated this. The rest of the staff, "K", Maddy, Baily, Tim, Jessi all treated us with great care and considerations. I took a family member who complained of chest pain to the Mercy Hospital Emergency Room in Washington, Mo this morning. After getting out of the car I tripped over a concrete bumper that was partially obscured by a large truck. I fell head first onto the concrete resulting in cuts on my forehead, severe pain in my left wrist and shoulder, abrasion on my knee, pain in my mid back and (later on) pain in my left hip. A security guard who happened to see me fall, was there within a very short time with a wheelchair to take me into the ER. I was put into the waiting area directly across from the reception desk while my family member with chest pain was admitted. The security guard then asked me a few question about how my fall happened and left. A nurse took me into a room, asked me what happened and took my vital signs. I informed her that I had several allergies to medications (something she did not ask me). The Nurse informed me that they were very busy and parked the wheelchair in the waiting area by the entrance. I was still bleeding from my head and an abrasion from my hand. She parked the wheelchair so that it was facing the window instead of the reception desk. Should I have had any kind of medical emergency it would have been impossible for me to get help . The family member was given an EKG and then was also sent to the waiting area. I was taken to a room and a Physician assistant in training came a short time later. He asked what happened and where I hurt. At this time I asked for an update on my family member and was told that someone would be with me shortly. Another Physician assistant came in and asked me the same questions that the first PA had asked me. He told me that they would do an MRI of my head and take X-rays of my arm and knee. Again I asked for an update on my family member. When the PA left, he did not give me a call button and did not ask if I was comfortable. Someone from Radiology came to take me to get the MRI done. She also asked what happened. I was a bit cranky and asked if she didn't read my chart. She said "well, yes i did, but we like to hear it from the Horse's mouth". WTF??? Did she really call me a horse? After the MRI she took me back to the room, again I was not given a call light, but now the sides of the bed were up, so I had to lay there in a very uncomfortable position. I again asked for an update on my family member. I did tell her that now my hip hurt severely. A nurse (I think) came in a while later, gave me an update on my family member. I asked if he looked okay and she said that she hadn't seen him, but had only read his chart. Someone else from Radiology came in asked if I was "Ashley". I told her I wasn't, so she left only to return a minute later telling me that she had mixed up the names and that she always left her notes at the nurse's desk. She told me that she would take X-rays of my arm and knee. When I asked about my hip, she went to talk to the PA. He came in the room, said in the ten minutes he had talked to me earlier I had not said anything about my hip. I told him that it had not hurt earlier but did so now. He then explained that if my hip was broken I would not be able to bear weight on it. Back in my room I was met by my family member. He had signed himself out against medical advice because he was left in the room by himself for over an hour with no way to call for help. He finally crawled (literally) out of the end of the bed and came to find me. Despite the fact that he had asked multiple times nobody had given him an update on my status. About a half hour later a Nurse came in, seemed surprised to see him sitting there with me and told him in a very authoritative tone "You have to go back to your Room." My family member told her he would do no such thing. After he told her how long he had been laying there without any way to call for help and no reaction to him pressing the call button multiple times, the nurse called security. After we informed security that the family member had signed himself out AMA, the security guard left and we waited for the results of my tests. My family member had to release the rails on the sides of the bed so I could at least sit up. I was eventually informed that nothing was broken and that I need to follow up with a doctor that I had never seen before in a week's time. The cuts on my head and the abrasions on my hand were never cleaned or addressed in any way, but I was given a band aid and a splint for my thumb. The splint was so small and compressed my hand in a very uncomfortable way. The uncaring ways of the staff did not make me cared for at all. At all times I felt that they wanted to get rid of me quickly because they were "busy". The irony was in the sign that was put up in my room. The sign said "You deserve excellent care". My fiance is a chronic pain, patient lupus and various other incidents may have landed us an emergency room on multiple accounts. Regardless, Washington hospital is terrible at bedside manner. Terrible at diagnosis and just all around. Not a good facility. Personally, I don't feel like I'm being treated there. I feel like I'm being dismissed there. My friend had surgery today. She asked for pain medication at 5:00 pm and they made her wait until after 10:45 pm to receive any! That is extremely unsatisfactory. It isn't like she was asking for a blanket or pillow!!! read more

I took my 86 year old mother to Mercy Hospital in Washington today for an outpatient proceedure. We were asked to arrive at Noon for a 1:00 proceedure. At 2:00 I stepped out to the nurses station to inquire as to when they would be coming to get her for her proceedure. I was I formed that two patients were late this morning so it would be another hour. We arrived at the time we were told to arrive and were penalized because two earlier paitents could not seem to make it there when they should have. Those tardy individuals should have been RESCHEDULED OR PLACED AT THE END OF THE LINE! So if you have all day to hang around a hospital that does not have ANY REGARD for the value of YOUR time then this is the hospital for you! I did not want to leave a star but I was forced to in order to post this review. I would give negative stars!!!!!!!! read more

They took very good care of my Grandmother during the last days of her life. And they went above & beyond taking care of my family & I while we were spending time with her before she passed. The nurse I met (Kayla) was wonderful & friendly.....even tho she never brought me the Tequila I asked for. (insider) The Chaplin was so amazing & comforted my family & I as my Grandmother's life was slipping away. Hello! I was just seen and turned away for treatment of broken back by Dr. Joshua Leffler at mercy hospital er! At about 3 am i woke in terrible pain from 4 broken lumbar vertebrae i received from a seizure a week and a half ago! I rushed to the er in Washington, Mo seeking immediate relief because of the terrible pain i was in. I was treated like a drug addict and was denied any real form of pain relief from this terrible e.r. doctor Leffler M.D. the funny thing is i haven't been to a doctor for years because i wasn't in need of 1 after enduring a coma and possibly the worst tbi a human can live through.( even though I wasn't supposed to live) . I worked hard putting my life together after my terrible experience and was completely successful for many years! Then out of the blue! I started recently having severe seizures again! I was in between doctor visits and testing during this experience so i was out of any pain meds so i couldn't treat myself. I was given 1 of the weakest pain killers on the market. Told that ibuprofen was sufficient for treatment of 4 broken lumbar vertebrae and a huge herniated disk between S5 and L1. Dr. Joshua Leffler has no business working as a emergency room doctor what so ever. His level of care is neil and his commitment to treatment of human being's in pain non existent. I recommend driving out of the way to avoid mercy hospitals completely! Not to mention its also the same hospital who installed a defective acrylic plastic plate in my head in 2006 which caused my seizures to begin with! (Dr. Picker). Then when i went to collect compensation for the deterioration of the plate that also caused a infection in my brain; i was completely railroaded and literally pushed out the door 2 days after brain surgery that almost killed me. The hospital employs a large portion of very bad physicians. If you go to mercy hospital in the st.louis and surrounding areas be very aware and cautious! The doctor ratings the hospital has for its physicians are manipulated by the hospital administration and do not reflect the truth of the level of health care provided. Go to Mercy at your own risk! My 4 year old daughter choked on coins. Was able to get them unlodged from her throat but wanted to be sure they weren't in her chest. I took her to the ER and the staff was amazing from the front desk to the X-Ray techs, to the nurses and the doctor. Luckily the coins passed to her stomach, otherwise we would be at St. Louis Children's having them surgically removed. The wait in the waiting room was slim-to-none, as it always is. If I could give a no star review I would!! My 90 year old Grandmother fell and broke her hip and was taken there. The ER doctors let her sit the for 24 hours with a internal bleeding in her leg before they did surgery!! The risk of infection could have set in and we could have lost her. This hospital is the worst one ever ,always has been and always will be. Please do not take anyone you love or hate here. Its just so sad that this place hasn't changed!! read more

Honestly, This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. If I could negatively rate this disgusting excuse of a hospital I would. After sharing my personal experience, if you're expecting or know somebody who is save them the stress and disappointment and let them have a good experience elsewhere. After my cousin had delivered months early to a stillborn baby, they told us we could have unlimited visitors to grieve the death of our newborn baby to our family. After driving TWO HOURS after asking I arrive to be told she "changed her mind" and the boyfriend was her only visitor upon them begging me to come up to say goodbye. Heather from the L&D floor is beyond unprofessional and I hope nobody has to experience the heartbreak she has put my family through not getting to say our goodbyes. How disgusting. How many bad reviews do you need before you make a change around this place? read more

I'd like to say that when a person goes to the ER for a kidney stone, you should make them aware that they have multiple stones. Don't send them on there way and not make them aware of that important fact. Especially when the Urologist can't see the patient for three weeks. I will NEVER go back to Washington ER - IF I have an emergency and can make it, we will ALWAYS got to St Clair Hospital near Pacific. Too many cases where Washington ER misdiagnosed me, or a family member and caused us much suffering. I went there after passing out and they sent me home, only to find out I had a major spinal tear and lost ALL of my Spinal fluid - but they sent me a really nice bill anyway. read more

ICU took excellent care of my son and our family while he was on life support. They were very accommodating to all friends and family of ours, and there was a lot. They never said one word about the comings and goings after hours. I cannot praise enough for the exceptional staff and DR. This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I hope people read my review to save them the same struggles I went through when I went here. I came into the ER thinking I was having a miscarriage because I had been bleeding for 3 months straight and in the worst imaginable pain I cant even describe. After hours of sitting in the waiting room being patient even tho I was scared and in pain they finally took me back. But after getting blood taken, the doctor said I was not dying and to take some Tylenol and go home. I begged him is there anything he could do to give me answers or help with the pain. But all he said was that he could do some ultrasounds but it would be a complete waste of his time and referred me to an obgyn. I ended up finding my own and figured things out with them. They ended up charging me $1,000 for the visit. When I went to complain saying I wasn't even treat and the terrible care I had gotten I was told they would review it and now it's been 2 months, I can't pay it, and they won't get back to me at all. I wish I knew of more places to write a review because I want to help save all woman and of course everyone from having to have this same issue. Please if you are a woman, go somewhere else they have no idea what to do when it came to me. My obgyn said if I waited any longer it could have gotten really bad. My Husband went to St. Johns Mercy Hospital earlier this morning for a tooth infection that's been keeping him up for nights, and preventing him from eating. We went to St. john's expecting quality treatment, However when my husband informed the doctor that Ibuprofen would be Insufficient the Doctor blatantly refused to treat him with something more effective. My husband hasn't had repeat visits for tooth infection's in the past. There is no reason for the Doctor to assume that he was there for any other reason beside's treatment. We feel there was discrimination involved preventing proper treatment because of my husband's psychical appearance, (long hair & Tattoo's). We will never visit St. Johns again. My wife and I have had both of our baby boys at St. John's Mercy and all I can say is that the staff that took care of us BOTH times (5 years apart) were SO awesome. They were quick to help and happy to serve and make sure my wife (and 5 year old and myself) were all taken care of everytime they checked on us. Not too Crazy about ER! Woman Dr. Misdiagnosed me! I thought I was having a Heart Attack on the way! I was supposed to go to St. Luke's Hospital, where I had Back Surgery, about a week before. Couldn't make it! Heaviness on my Chest, Left Arm Numb, fingers Tingling, I couldn't talk, Hard to get my breath! I thought I was going to die! Finally, I said Mercy! I was taken there. Blood Work done, Chest X - Ray. Later, when I could talk, I told Dr. to check for Blood Clots, I just had Back Surg. She said I didn't have Blood Clots & Blood Work Fine! No Fluids given. She Kept saying it was Anxiety! I told her I Never get like this! My Dad had said the same thing! 2 Days later, my Prim. Care Dr. had to Call Ambulance to take me from the Office. Pulse 124 resting in Office. She asked if CT was done on my Lungs. I said No. She said due to Blood Test being High, Indicated a Blood Clot in the Lungs! I was Severely Dehydrated! Paramedic & EMT Questioned Drs. Orders & asked if I wanted to go Home, instead of Hospital. I saw my Dr.'s Face & Nurse's & I said take me to ER! He laughed & joked, like it was no big deal. Union Ambulance! My Dr. had Called ER & told them what test to do & to Admit me from ER, until they found what was wrong! Large Blood Clot in Left Upper Lung. Dr. said, When I thought I was having a Heart Attack, that's when Clot went through my Heart to my Left Lung! I was put on Blood Thinners, maybe for Life! He said at least You are Alive! It could have stopped in your Heart & You'd be Dead! I could have died when 1st ER Visit, I was sent home Severely Dehydrated, No Checking of Blood Clots, No Blood Thinner, Lied about Blood Tests being Good! Just Anxiety! If I Listened to Union Amb. & went Home, I was told I'd been dead! I had tried to walk each Hr. but I couldn't get my air, I would slump over my walker. My Pulse was 135 laying down, never below 114. I knew something was wrong! I worked in Trauma Hospital in CA, the Heart Floor & Lab! I knew how Important it is to walk! I would, but couldn't breathe. I had to sit down. It was God & Prayers, that I am Alive! My Family & I had Problems with Staff before in other Visits! Once, my Dad was real bad, he had had Prostrate Cancer, and unable to urinate. Tried to put a Cath. in him, couldn't do it. They kept trying & Blood went Everywhere. They were Laughing, and one said it looked like OJ had been there & another said a Hog was Slaughtered! Several times, Treatment wasn't the Best! The Out Patient Surgery is the Best! Also, Nurses on the Floors when Admitted, was Wonderful! It's just the ER! I have heard So Many Complaints about ER! This Will Hurt the Hospital! My Sister will Never Visit the Big Mercy - Misdiagnosed her 9 yr. old Son. Told Dr. to check for Bacterial Meningitis, the School Dist. had Several deaths or Strokes. He kept saying, the Flu. But, he had never been sick. Started hurting in abdomen at school & Low grade Fever. Paramedics thought Appendicitis! Mercy ruled it out & kept him, due to my Sister Persisting! That night Everything changed. He turned Purple all over his body & he said, Mommy, what's wrong with me, are they going to fix me? Hooked up to Everything! Put into a Medically Induced Coma! Trying all kinds of Antibiotics & finally said he was Critical but Stable. But, he Spoke & said, Dear God, Jesus is Coming! That's All he said & it scared them, but they were told to rest & right after they stepped out his Heart Stopped. They used the Paddles, but Nothing Worked. The Nurse came to the Funeral & said He Actually saw Jesus Coming! No Child would Scream that out, unless he saw Something & then his Heart Stopped! His Younger Sister, has felt Cheated from Not knowing her Big Brother! He Always wanted to go to Heaven to see Jesus! He was deaf in one Ear, but he wanted his Sister to be Healed, rather than him, because she couldn't hear at all! If Only the Dr. had done what my Sister Requested. Blood Work was one of the Worst Bacteria he'd seen! read more
