After speaking with the coordinator I stood to serve Thanksgiving dinner. I loved getting to know everyone I came across & more interesting is that these individuals didn't choose to be homeless and not all fell to drugs some have mental illness some lost their jobs because of our economy nonetheless they shouldn't be judged or look down on but to be treated with respect kindness compassion and dignity because after all their human beings too. Thus, repairs, basic, essential services like pest control and plumbing issues routinely took a week to several months to resolve while apparently he negotiated prices for work orders. And they took as much as NINETEEN MONTHS to be fulfilled! Myself having worked in the apartment leasing industry at up to 400 unit complexes, have NEVER seen such lengthy neglect to provide service to the tenants and the physical apartment issues! The rental business is firstly a PEOPLE business, which people pay rent to the landlord in order to lease the unit premises. Further, KM also stole a total of $85,000 from two tenants while I was there or shortly before. They SHOWED me their boxes of many receipts. Each of them and other tenants had pending or considered lawsuits against KM and the property management company and AFH. After I left, one of them sent me several messages in extensive detail articulating that KM quickly threw some things into his pickup and drove away before law enforcement (sheriffs) could arrest him. (Ironically, he had been accepted into the LAPD academy. But I don't think he's there now. Do you? Lol). And he at 6'4", 350-400 lbs. he was an intimidating bully, and yielded his physicality very readily, including an assault upon me, for which I am considering a lawsuit for intentional infliction of emotional distress. However, I do feel sorry for the tenants who remained who may have lost their apartment homes due to the apparently epic shake up after the collapse of the then landlord's ownership. Had I more choices, I would have avoided Casa Paloma Apartments as I was told to do on my third day there by an elderly couple as they exited.

After I have looked more in depth at American family housing I find it there are people who are…read morethankful for them for what they have done for them but these people have dealt with American family housing 3 years ago some longer management has changed the atmosphere amongst the people have changed within the employees and management staff and not for the better. I've spoken with employees who will rename name this for fear of losing their jobs and I have been told that the organization itself was about doing good for those in need helping those get stable housing get their feet back on the ground get gainful employment with a roof over their head but if you notice I had used the word was American family housing was at one point doing all they can for those in need and the key word there is was they are no longer that many families will what come forth and say so as well the living conditions that they are having to live in some said that it's inhabitable but they stay because they have no other options nor the resources for help the funding that these type of places receive is enormous with only about 30% of their funding received as being used for the purpose that's been given for so where does the rest go the other 70% I'll tell you where it goes It goes in the pockets of those in higher positions within American family housing it goes in their bank accounts to their enormous houses luxurious cars very expensive business lunches and so on sooner or later someone will recognize American family housing for what they are and that is selfish greedy and what I would call opportunistic they jump on the opportunity to get funding donations whatever you could think of at the misfortune of those in need and those people who are in need they accept what they're giving because it's more than what they had they don't see the fact that they could be getting so much more to help their daily lives become better so they take what they can get and accept it because they don't want to lose what they have now they don't want every percussion to fall back on them for speaking out the truth on what they deal with with American family housing. I encourage anyone reading this interview and other interviews about American family housing to not take my word for this do not take the word of others who left reviews who have filed complaints who have given negative feedback or even positive in that matter but to look at it yourself and see what is there and what American family housing is really all about I will tell you it's not about the community and those in need it's about the bank accounts of those higher up it's about the bottom dollar.

Kim the director I was fond of at first and then she switched, and called me a bathroom Nazi even though the bathrooms were at first assigned to certain rooms and someone kept wiping feces on the rug and walls, breaking the toilet seat and just not being mindful and I had an issue with it because they assigned me more often than not to clean the restroom nightly for my chore. told me i needed to get used to communal living. Then told me "no wonder why youre family doesnt want you around and why the father of your baby fights with you, you are a problem and no one wants you around. You make the women here uncomfortable." One thats wrong because i have mental health issues and thats discrimination and harmful and harassment. And two i was friends with everyone except for one black woman after she misconstrued my words about me telling her she needed to not tell this one woman what she should be doing with her money because she found it offensive then wanted to talk to house moms about it and asked me to come for moral support and I got bitched at for coming with her and got told to leave. Kept getting "x's" for apparently missing or being late to groups. When i wasnt. Id have to go in circles to have my case manager to look back at cameras and even then the house moms would take days to fix their mistake. That black woman as well kicked me in the back when i was cleaning air vent at bottom of stairs and i told staff (house moms) and they told me "accidents happen" They have on website that they help with transitional housing one in fact, the case manager told me that she could not help me with housing could only recommend places and aside from that they were shitty shelters that she recommended or that wouldn't accept me because of how far along I was in my pregnancy I was about five months at the time. The groups were fantastic though especially the art teacher. And i loved Jules (house mom) she was an angel. As well as Alexis (house mom) and Nurse Keri. One of The House Mom's Jackie walked away from me mid conversation after I was explaining to her that originally she told us that the dinner tour had to be done by 6:30 and then changed it last minute when I was already out out of the house getting pizza from somewhere and she said that she shouted it upstairs That I should've known, even though I wasn't there and it wasn't past curfew and she gave me an X for it. I brought it up to my case manager, and she told me basically that Jackie was pregnant and that I just needed to not mind how she was with her moods. Meanwhile, everybody else in the house was pregnant and not allowed to act like that. They have favorites with some of the women that go into the shelter and then other women they completely disregard and pushed the side and Try to always do things to make them feel less than and not help. Bring them up. You are also not allowed to get a job there until after three months of you being there but after three months, have you been there most of the time they kick you out and you do not get moved over to parenting and again they do not help with transitional housing so you basically have to figure out where to go or you're on the street. Luckily, I had some time to try to figure something out for myself, but aside from that this program is misleading and money hungry do not donate to here and do not go to their thrift store. You're basically funding people to get Harleys And nice clothes and cars, and not actually funding a foundation that is trying to help pregnant homeless women. They would not help me. Being a Non-Profit I feel they should help everyone. I feel they just don't want to deal with all families in need. Picking and choosing to there benefit to make there job easier. Everyone has a different situation . I feel like I've been punished for someone else's actions.

It's always good to give back to a community even though I've never needed their help. I've had the…read morepleasure to work with like minded people in helping out the less fortunate. It's just take a little time and effort and with a community of people you can help many more out there. Today our immediate group put together 2400 boxes to help 2400 families. It's a group effort indeed as different groups help out in different areas. We put together boxes and send them into the production assembly line where others put into the boxes nutritional items and then they are sealed shut and stacked onto pallets which are eventually transported to pantries around the area and or delivered directly to individuals. Elementary students up to adults help out. You can signup your group to take on a weekend for a great cause. You also can do it for student credit for like when colleges want to see how well rounded you are and how you impact your community. It's fun and you meet new people.

I brought my cousin Jason here right after he was released from custody, hoping to get him some…read moresupport, and within just a few hours, he was already getting connected to real help, all completely free. The staff at Project Kinship treated him with dignity and respect from the moment he walked in. They didn't just give him resources, they made him feel human again in a situation that could've felt very shameful and overwhelming. From housing support to wraparound reentry services, they came through in every way. Today, Jason is more stable than he's been in years.
