Nurse Lydia acted far outside her role and authority, inserting herself into matters that were not hers to manage and attempting to interfere with decisions involving my patient by going directly to my supervisor. This behavior was inappropriate, unethical, and demonstrated a serious lack of professional judgment. she should be fired and never be able to work in this building again.

Our nurses were so patient and clear with what they were doing and explained why if I asked, the anesthesiologist hooked me up to the epidural so expertly I barely felt it going in, felt like two bee stings if that. Even though it wore off before pushing, everything went smoothly and went very well, I couldn't have asked for better people! We had the option to leave the day of, but we were so comfortable we stayed an extra day, and thank goodness we did because they gave us so much useful information we didn't even think to ask. I was there for 7 and a half hours and ordered a CT with no additional treatment. He referred me to the Iowa Clinic ENT and never sent the referral so I had to calll for follow up. It was an additional 4 days before getting seen. Worst experience ever!!

I told them I had the same symptoms as I did before that surgery. After waiting 4 hours where at one point there were only 3 other people, I finally left without being seen. One couple was still waiting and they had been there 6 hours. Another woman had been there about the same amount of time. She was very concerned about getting home because she came by ambulance and was in a non-folding wheelchair. One nurse was extremely rude to her and said the place they use to give patients rides home in a case like this was closed and asked if her family could get her. She said no. She was shaking and panicking. I tried to find a business that was still open and had no luck. I then asked on Facebook if anyone could help. A very nice woman agreed to drive from Ankeny to give her a ride! I went to the nurse and told her I found her a ride only to be told they had one for her since she had finally been taken to a room. Why this wasn't explained to us is beyond me. It would have saved this woman from panicking and me from spending an hour looking for a ride for her.

After completing an in home sleep test ordered by my primary Doctor, I was referred to Iowa Clinic…read morepulmonary in Ankeny. Iowa Clinic ordered a second more extensive in home sleep study. Both tests revealed I had sleep apnea. Iowa Clinic ordered me to do an in lab sleep study. Would not fill CPAP rx without it. My primary did not support need for in-lab. After pre-authorization I was told my out of pocket would be $156. I attempted the study but could not sleep. Subsequently insurance denied claim, reason was the study was not necessary. Stating an automatic machine could have been used. Iowa Clinic then filled the rx for the CPAP. I received a bill from Iowa Clinic for the failed sleep study for $2100.00. I tried to get an answer from IC as to why the sleep study was necessary and why a failed study would cost $2100.00. The only answer I received was they did everything they could with the insurance co. and I owed the money. I appealed the denial and it upheld it was unnecessary. I requested a third party review through the state and again, ruled unnecessary. I will never step foot in an Iowa Clinic again. I have changed to a different provider to monitor my sleep apnea.

To make matters worse, they seem more focused on overcharging than actually helping patients. There was little to no effort to work with insurance, which feels intentional and predatory. If you value your time, money, and basic respect, go anywhere else. This clinic does not deserve your business.
