Best.donuts.around! Great selection, great service! We come here at least every couple weeks to pick up a dozen donuts. The donuts are just amazing and the selection is very impressive. The sour cream donuts are absolute fire! Actually, any of the cake donuts are awesome. Every now and then we'll try another donut joint in the lake Norman area, but we always come back to daylight! read more

I stumbled upon this bakery today and it was a pleasant surprise. Small interior and moderately decorated but in a good location. The shop owner wasn't very talkative but she has a variety of baked goods and fresh donuts! If you're in the area and want something sweet come by. They close early (1:00pm) but they beat the traditional chain donut shops by far!! Donuts are fresh and soft and much better than Dunkin and Krispy Kreme. read more

so I've been coming in here off and on for a few years getting the occasional donut or a box of treats for the tire shop folks because, well, you know... everyone there likes donuts (...and I can get me one too) not all donuts are created equal and not all Daylights are either. Dealing with plague protocols or post-plague monotony Mercy's has kept at it... Daylight is my preferred brand and the ladies running the show here make this is the best donuttery around. donuts are light but not too light, soft, moist, and well appointed without getting silly about it. sure, there's enough variety in toppings and glazes and fillings to satisfy the child in all of us but it's donuts not party cakes, a little restraint is called for. yea for also having plain cake donuts! read more

Stopped after shopping at BJ's nearby. Grabbed a cup of coffee and a maple bacon donut. Wife wanted decaf latte but no decaf on the espresso machine. My Coffee was the bottom of the pot and they didn't offer to make a fresh one. Lids don't fit on cups correctly. Spilled in my truck. I should have taken off an additional star for that. I hate that. The donut was fresh and the topping tasted good. Get Decaf and fix the cup cover thing and its five stars. read more

Holy cow this place was good. I looked for donuts for my daughter's 5th birthday and stumbled upon this place in Yelp. So glad I did. We got an assorted dozen and they were gone within a day. In the picture, which is of the display case, it looks like they were low, but they were making fresh new donuts (of all varieties) in the back while I was there. Personal favorite...all of them. Very tasty doughnuts, great friendly service...we had variety : red velvet cake,blueberry cake doughnut, Boston cream, maple bacon iced, maple iced, cinnamon sugar, they even made special one for my husband filled Boston cream with no chocolate icing. Be cautious when visiting this location. I was in there and got a dozen donuts. They split them into two boxes of six. Since they split the order up like that they charged me a higher price by like three dollars. Needless to say I probably wont go back there again and warn others of the trickery that takes place there. read more

This place had great reviews, so I was excited to try it but wasn't impressed. We ordered a glazed donut, bacon maple donut, and fruity rice krispies. We found that they were very dense. It was a very heavy donut and I couldn't appreciate the glaze on it. The bacon maple donut wasn't great either. It was overly sweet and was quite the mouthful with the dense donut. read more

My sister and I went to daylight donuts today and LOVED everything about the experience (and the donuts!). It's a cutesy little donut shop with the kindest most warm woman who is the owner of the shop! We told her it was our first time visiting and she gave us some donut holes as a welcoming gift! Pretty damn good. I got a glazed and strawberry icing. First, the donut itself is a more dense donut than, like a dunkin one, but still super as a pillow. Very fresh flavor!! The strawberry frosted one had a bit too much frosting for me but had a delightful strawberry flavor. Next time I'm driving on 77, I'm stopping for sure! Definitely go try them- very polite and friendly staff! read more

I am a donut eater! The reason this place is called daylight is because you ain't gonna see it no more eating these wonderful pieces of heaven! Too good to write about as my mouth waters just thinking about them. Dang! Well I finally tried it after passing by it for so long and was sadly disappointed. Tried 2 donuts, one was completely undercooked and doughy, un edible. The other was just ok but nothing to write home about. I would consider the Harris teeter donuts better than these and much bigger. they had a nail salon set up when I went in, very awkward, couldn't sit at a table due to employees doing their nails at them. Maybe if you cared as much about your nails than you did about your donuts, they would actually be cooked properly. Also very small selection to choose from. The donuts are amazing and I have to give a huge shout out on the customer service. I called with only 3 hours notice to request birthday donuts spelling out my daughter's somewhat long name. Typically they require 24 hours notice, but the owner was so sweet and rush made them as a birthday surprise for my six year old. Visiting with family and wanted some donuts. Mercy's Daylight Donuts was the closest. Absolutely the best donuts I have ever eaten (and I'm 70 years old). Grew up on Dunkin and Krispy Kreme. I came here today for the first time and was greeted by friendly people! I got half a dozen donuts and after I was rang up the lady said for you I will throw in some extra she gave me a bag full of donut holes plus 2 extra glazed doughnut for free. I thought they were very good and clearly my daughter did too she normally does not like donuts and she downed 2 in seconds! I would for sure suggest checking this place out over Dunkin' Donuts down the road! read more

They came out nice and warm. My favorite was the cinnamon sugar one. I wasn't a fan of the apple cider because it had a fake apple taste. The chocolate one was too bitter I think because they dusted it in cocoa powder. Overall, the donuts were nothing special and they were very overpriced. For tiny bite sized donuts they were 6 for $5. I probably wouldn't get them again.

Somedays they have exactly what you want and others they only have a few sad looking donuts on the shelf. The other issue I have is that I can be a little creative with my orders sometimes and about half the staff is willing to help me out and the other half is not. The notes always say sorry will be here late or sorry we ran out of food or sorry we had better things to do then run our store. In the short amount of time it took me to turn around in the parking lot this morning two other cars pulled in and had to turn around because the store wasn't open. One thing I totally love about this particular place is that they always have my husband's favorite, key lime pie. They seem to make small tarts pretty regularly but it's usually enough. I've also had scones from here and they are my favorite in the area, not dry and tasteless but the perfect consistency and just the right amount of flavor. The staff is always friendly, and I love that they are open on Sunday which is usually a quiet, stroll and town kinda day. I wish I had pictures but the goods always go too fast!
