H and M is a Paving and Sealcoating company , that did not do work for us, but rather our neighbors…read more( driveway paved) . They left pieces of asphalt and stone base all over a portion of our front yard. They also directed traffic off the street and over a portion of the front of our yard leaving behind significant tracks and almost damaging several sprinkler heads. I called them on it and the owner stated that if they had damaged the irrigation system it would have put him out of business. I assured him the heads were ok. He said he would stop by and clean up and tamp down the tracks. He did stop by and picked up some asphalt , but missed most of the stone, Said he would be by and tamp down the tracks. A week later, has done neither. While away my wife went out and did the work herself. No respect for other people's property.

Shattuck, OTOH, measured it precisely, quoted a price that was less than 70% of the other guy's, made sure to be clear on what was needed (remove anything that could interfere with the coating beforehand), did their own cleaning once they arrived (a very thorough one) and then treated the entire driveway promptly and to a high standard of quality. It's been a week, the driveway looks great and I couldn't be more pleased.

Working with him, however, was a completely different story. He was rude, righteous and phenomenally disrespectful. When I spoke with our contractor about the experience, he said Bill has a reputation for demeaning women and that his (the contractor's) wife, who manages their business, refuses to work with him directly due to chronic mistreatment. While the rest of the world is living in the 21st century, this particular engineer is stuck in a time warp where women don't have the right to vote, never mind own property. Holy smokes. Buyer beware.
