Boise doesn't really warm up until the afternoon but the time enables you to beat the heat and avoid the time when the risk of sunburn is greatest. Plus the wading pool is kept at a comfortable temperature. Admission varies but I paid $6.50 for myself and two children. The wading pool has a mushroom shaped water fountain and a couple of seal statues that "spit" water. It's two feet in the deep end. One of my sons is a total water baby and the other is a land lover, but they both had a blast. It wasn't particularly busy, and I was pleased to see how attentive parents were and how well behaved their children were. Hopefully that's always the case. I've heard that the wading pool at Ivy Wild is even better, and I look forward to taking my boys there soon.

We also signed our waivers online and paid using the Apple Wallet which felt pretty safe. We were greeted by a young lady sitting at the office window. She acknowledged our reservation. We were a bit early and she told us to wait a bit while she made sure things were sanitized and she would give us a tour of the hot tub area shortly. The area was so clean, private and just overall welcoming. If you are in the Boise area you and are looking for something relaxing to do, we recommend this place even though it's approximately an hour away from downtown Boise, Idaho. We paid $22 for 1 hour in the spacious natural hot springs private area. They have a large speaker that you can connect to via Bluetooth. The bathrooms are clean and they provide body wash for the showers.

The slide isn't always staffed, but when it is, it's super fun... even as a grown up :-) They have a rock wall, track for walking/running, and offer fitness classes. My mom likes doing the circuit of machines up in the weight lifting area. There's lots of cardio equipment. I usually prefer the free weights and non-circuit resistance machines for my workouts, and I've found everything I needed at this YMCA. Staff and members are all friendly, and I've never felt uncomfortable working out here. Sometimes you end up weighting for weights or machines, especially during peak times, but that's pretty much how it goes at any gym. Membership is $50/month for one person, or I believe $80/month for two, so a bit of savings. Considering everything you have access to with a membership, it's honestly not a bad deal. I have paid as much or more for gyms with way fewer amenities, let alone for a yoga or pilates studio. Definitely a good option.

I will say it is a bit pricey, but they have financial assistance for people who are needing it, and when I lost my job we paid based on how much we made so cost doesn't have to be a factor preventing you from going to an inclusive community center for all ages. The YMCA in West Boise offers a great experience for any newcomer to the gym or long time veterans who are just coming in to work out.

One thing I really like is a computerized set of weight stations, Egym, where all of the settings are adjusted automatically based on your level and the program you're using. After every six sessions (two rounds on the 11 machines) each machine gives you a strength test to measure your progress. Resistance for your next set of trainings is then adjusted. For someone who once messed around with an old Universal Gym during ju for high but didn't understand how much weight to use, when to increase it and by how much, this makes it much simpler. The cost is a reasonable $10 per month over the normal membership fee. My aging body isn't so limber, so one of the Egym trainers suggested taking a free beginners yoga class she teaches.
