Idaho is literally a geothermal wonderland. What a delight in the middle of what seems to be a sleepy middle of nowhere tiny town. I think the population of Idaho City is less than 500 people but this gem is smack in the middle and a delight. We reserved online, checked in early, they settled us in early so we had a little extra time to soak which was awesome after a long day on the Payette River rafting. In the private tubs clothing is optional so any services received for food or drink are quietly delivered through a rotating lazy Susan built into the wall for no sight/touch service. We booked a massage and that was amazing! Highly recommend. However, what lowers this review is the private tub we booked. Obviously as a married couple in a clothing optional hot springs we were going to get frisky. A staff member came and said the next tub complained. But we didn't get any complaints for speaking loudly. I'm not sure if anyone else was in the other tubs or not. I did see a speaker box on the wall that had a monitor light lit. My wife and I flew here yesterday for a long weekend vacation in Boise. I knew I wanted to find some hot springs in the area and I did my research before our trip. The Springs are the closest ones I could find and I'm sure they are the best by far. I booked the private tubs for two hours -- these are AMAZING -- well worth the money. Super hot and private (you can regulate the temp with a cold water valve) plus there's a pitcher of ice water set up with cups and a menu to order food and beverages. I got a couple tasty and COLD IPAs and we ordered a big, HOT pretzel for a snack. Long story short, we had a great time! Just do it! read more

Just under an hour outside of Boise, tucked into the mountains, is a beautiful retreat. A family-owned hideaway hot springs to wash away your stress and anxiety. Arrived for my 3 hours session on a Friday afternoon. $25 for a 3-hour session. I was assigned a locker and ushered into the locker room. Entering the pool area there is a large spring fed pool along with a spring fed hot tub area as well. Lounge chairs are plentiful and poolside service staff were attentive to make sure our group had everything to enjoy our restful retreat. Pool noodles provided and a limited drink (mocktails, alcohol, Italian sodas, Irish coffees, etc.) was available. Also, do not miss the food menu. This is a nice and easy 40 min drive from SE Boise. We enjoyed mimosas in a private room on a lovely fall morning and can't wait to come back and try in the winter. The water temperature was nice and toasty and everything was clean. Our mimosas tasted more like orange juice and wish, as a spa, they provided their own robes, slippers, towels and had prettier glasses than solo cups. It's the little things that count. read more

This place was so wonderful for a day date! Staff is friendly and walks you back to the private hot springs soaking tubs. The tub was rock lined and you could add cold or hot water to adjust the temperature. Very relaxing atmosphere. You can order food and drinks and they will bring it to you and spin it around on this lazy Susan type apparatus in the wall in case you don't wear clothes in the hot tub. Our experience at The Springs was incredibly disappointing due to misleading information and poor customer service. The website clearly states that children under 18 are allowed at The Springs on certain days, which is why we booked a family outing. However, it never mentions that kids are not allowed in the private tubs at any time. I learned that crucial detail only appeared in the fine print of a confirmation email after we booked and we were all standing there in the reception area checking in for our fun family outing--and by then, it was non-refundable. We were shocked to arrive and be told that our nearly 17-year-old son couldn't join his mom, aunt, and cousin in the private tubs. Instead, we had to leave him alone in the public pool area. When we expressed our concern, the staff simply said, "Did you read your email?"--which came off as dismissive and unhelpful, especially given the lack of upfront disclosure on their website. This is not how a resort should treat guests, especially families trying to follow the rules and plan in good faith. Due to the lack of transparency and unwillingness to accommodate or take responsibility, we will not be returning--and I would caution others, especially families, to be very wary when booking. read more

This has always been one of my favorite places, but lately, I have been a little disappointed. Yes, the people continue to be lovely, the pool is great and relaxing. I miss the days when you could soak as long as you wanted, and the lovely sauna has been down for so long. No word yet on when a new one will be put in. I've been to The Springs twice, once in the summer and most recently on a snowy day in December. Both times were awesome and worth the drive from Nampa. They are limiting capacity so make reservations early. Or take the chance, as I did, and hope for a last minute cancelation. It's a beautiful location and great way to relax. They have a small menu of snacks. Beer, wine and nonalcoholic drinks available. Poolside iced spring water is available also. Customer service is great! A few years ago I would've given this a 5 but the last few experiences I've had have been less than wonderful with a common theme being "snippy" staff. It is a bummer that you can only soak for 2 1/2 hours now, yet the prices have increased over double - But hey, I understand that many businesses learned some things during Covid that make them more money; they aren't going back and I can appreciate that. The 65 person limit doesn't hurt my feelings, nor do the limited hours for children. BUT. They are militant about you getting out of the pool on time (the way they announce it, and patrol you, even if you're the last soak of the day is very militant and not relaxing at all) yet the last two times I've been there. My entry has been almost 20 minutes late, which is annoying, to say the least. I feel like they focus on *their rules* more than guest experience and, in fact, last visit allowed a group of people to enter with their "companion dog". This dog was not wearing a vest, spent a lot of time barking and yelping while the owner loudly scolded her from across the pool. Meanwhile timing the people Next to us and making them wait for SIX minutes before they allowed them to order another drink, also making them feel uncomfortable. That focus was wayyy off. They have ceased providing towels, no longer have basic toiletries (I always told everyone how awesome it was that they had q-tips lol) and I don't see any progress with the steam room repair - a sauna has been lacking since the beginning - and on several occasions I've been *required* to share a locker with with my friend, when clearly there were tons of open lockers. I mean , me saying no I'd really rather not and them insisting and basically saying I had no choice. Since they enter in groups now the locker rooms are inundated with people, all rushing to get outside, many choosing to change in the bathroom stalls (despite signs asking them not to) while those of us following the rules are elbowing each other in the back corner trying to dress and waiting for long periods to use the toilets. Their food offerings have remained super limited since Covid (to be fair, they are well portioned and fairly priced). I'd love to see them using some of their increased revenue to provide a better experience. I feel like they take their booked out business for granted now that they are so busy. It's still a lovely place to visit, and I'm glad to see some expanded some hours but I think they've gotten a little too big for their britches and if they are going to feign a higher end experience, they should provide one. If they read this, I hope they take it at face value as I have been a steady patron and referred a lot of people to visit them, and will continue to do so. I want them to be successful, but hope they consider walking their talk on creating a nurturing and relaxing environment for patrons. read more

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOUR VISITING!! I flew in from LA for a quick weekend to visit my parents, who just moved to Boise, and we decided to treat ourselves to a relaxing day at this hot spring. While the actual springs and our wait staff were lovely--super kind and helpful--the rest of the experience left a sour taste. When we arrived, we were each having a single half-glass of champagne, and were immediately told we were banned from drinking for the next hour. The manager (or owner?) treated us like we were a problem, not guests. We were ignored, given dirty looks, and could clearly hear the front desk staff whispering about us. Not exactly the welcoming vibe you'd expect at a place meant for relaxation. My dad spent money at the gift shop--surprise, suddenly the staff warmed up to him. Meanwhile, my mom and I continued to be met with rude stares and cold silence, even when I said thank you and tried to be polite at the end. I got a look up and down with no response. It's unfortunate because the setting is beautiful and the service in the springs was great, but the hostile treatment at the front totally ruined the experience. Love the springs! I booked a private tub for my husbands birthday about 4 months in advance. We drove up on Saturday and didn't think of any implications the on and off storms would have. We arrived and were told that if lightning was within 10 miles we would need to evacuate. We decided to go for it anyways since it was 20 miles out and we only had the tub for an hour. We were in private tub 4 and ordered a huckleberry lemonade and IPA to enjoy while soaking. The tubs are truly private and so beautiful! We unfortunately had to evacuate after 30 mins but were given a weather discount and even though it was cut short the experience was so worth it! I definitely want to plan to come back next winter in the snow! The region boasts a fair number of commercial hot springs, but so many of these facilities fail to meet even the most basic expectations. I was, therefore, happy to find The Springs. The Springs isn't a posh spa experience, so don't expect Evian and facials. The facility does a great job catering to a mid-range clientele consisting of road-weary travelers, families, and local folks looking for inexpensive relaxation. The prices are excellent, the water is a perfect temperature, the staff are super friendly and helpful. The facility offers basic massage packages, an adequate food and beverage menu, as well as private pools for relaxing in solitude. Plus, The Springs is in a beautiful rural setting with forest and mountain views. Located only 45 minutes outside Boise, this hot spring makes a perfect day trip out in the country. It's a clean facility offering basic services for not too much money. Who doesn't love that? Check out Neighboring Idaho City for some fun antique shops and a taste of the local vibe. Things to consider: 1. The Springs limits alcohol consumption to one drink per hour. It seems like a strange regulation, but it's well-posted and very strongly enforced. 2. Make a reservation online if you can. 3. They have child-free days several days a week, so keep that in mind if you want to bring the kiddos. I've seen some angry folks get turned away. read more

I am sad to leave this review, as we have frequently visited over the years with friends and family. We have never had such a bad experience as we did yesterday. It was my friends 44th birthday, and a groups of us who work together as elementary school teachers went out to celebrate at The Springs and have dinner after. We were very excited and happy to be there, and apparently our enthusiasm for the day offended the elderly lady with glasses who checked us in. We asked if we could have wrist bands, so we could enjoy some drinks poolside. She asked our party, "have you been drinking before?" I said yes, because I thought she asked, "have you drank HERE before?" Then, my friend said "no" having heard her correctly. The lady looked up at me and said, "we'll she just admitted to you all drinking." I said, "admitted to what?" She repeated her original question, and I told her that's not what I thought she said and confirmed we had not been drinking and we're just excited to be out for the day. Immediately, she responded with, "well, you all seem really elevated, so we'll have to watch and asses you all and maybe in an hour you can have a wristband." We we're so taken back by the harsh judgement when we were completely sober and out to celebrate our friends 44th birthday. We went to the lockers to change and continued to talk about our shocking encounter to make sure we all experienced what she said correctly, so confused. We went to the pool and ordered drinks to which the waitress asked where our wristbands were. I explained the situations, and asked if they treat all their guests who are happy as if they're drunk. After some tears from the birthday girl (having felt unfairly judged), the waitress went inside to get wristbands and was great about the situation. The lady who checked us was seen standing inside at the window just watching us. Treating us as children. She told us we were being "assessed." While we were there we only had 2 of our 5 in the party even order ONE drink. Nobody was there to get drunk, but wanted to be treated as adults. Upon check out, the same lady was very rude and told me she wouldn't give me my credit card back until our entire party paid individually-as if we were going to run out without paying? I took my card back and told her I would wait in the lobby until everyone paid. No apology, but very rude looks we're given to us. Only when one person from our party said they didn't drink, did she treat them kindly. After we went to dinner, and told our waiter the story. He said he went often and knew what lady we were talking about. He said one time he tripped on something out by the pool, and slipped because the floor was wet, and the same lady cut him off and accused him of being drunk when he didn't have a drink that day. I understand making sure people are safe, but to go around accusing grown adults of being trashed and monitoring their alcohol upon arrival was a huge judgement call that was made in error. People should not be accused of or treated in this manor. I'm not sure that I will ever go back, and all my friends and family will hear of this treatment. I hope she gets fired. She ruined a perfectly nice day-and birthday. Oh, AND as we changed, employees asked us to move, so they could clean the lockers. read more

The Springs was a beautiful and relaxing day for us. Just an one hour drive from Boise. Initially we were hesitant about the price but after our lovely, peaceful day in hot springs surrounded by forest, we felt the experience was well worth the price. We reserved the private soak pool which was such a treat! If you reserve the private pool, the hot springs general admission is decreased to $8/person. We relaxed in the large hot springs pool, went into the sauna a couple times, and spent an hour in the private tub (where food and drinks ordered during check-in were ready for us). Then, we checked out of the springs, did a quick hike in the Boise National Forest, returned to shower and enjoy the springs and sauna a bit more. It was a wonderful day! Absolute worst experience ever! Some teacher friends and I (40 year old church-going moms) were heading to the springs for a relaxing soak after teaching all day. We were told at check-in that we would not be given wristbands for drinks because we were "obviously drunk." My friends and I had not had a drink for MONTHS as we were all working toward health and wellness goals. We were going to have our first drink in months to celebrate a teacher's birthday. Our entire visit, we were misjudged, treated so rudely, and were supervised from a window. When we went to check out, the receptionist refused to give our credit cards back to us, saying no one could have their cards back until every one of us had paid. Not a place for kids, not even during all ages swim. My kids were reprimanded twice for horsing around, even though no one was in our area and all they did was splash each other. We were surprised and would have left, but they charge so much we stayed and finished our time. When we were going to leave it felt rushed. My wife was changing in the locker room and an employee came in and started cleaning the locker next to her, forcing her to move out of the way. The natural hot springs at The Springs were undeniably lovely. Relaxing in the warm water was a perfect way to unwind. However, the experience was significantly marred by the unprofessional and frankly rude behavior of the male front desk staff. Upon arrival, my friend (who was visiting for the first time) and we were met with hostility. We simply brought a cup inside to dispose of it in the trash can, and we were immediately reprimanded for having it. The staff member's tone was accusatory and made us feel unwelcome from the start. This put a damper on the entire visit, especially for my friend's first impression. While the springs themselves were enjoyable, the unpleasant interaction lingered. Unfortunately, upon leaving, we encountered the same negative attitude from the male front desk staff again. This left us feeling uneasy as we were "cheap" with our tip being left - mind you the drinks were poured from a can and the staff wasn't even the ones pouring. The male front staff should understand he started the evening terribly with his accusations to a well over the age adult at 7:30pm in the evening. It's a shame that such a beautiful natural attraction tarnished by poor customer service. If you're looking for a relaxing and welcoming hot springs experience, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Unfortunately the staff doesn't understand that as the place is always a constant flow of people that create an entitlement that they are use to. We were here from California getting our son settled into his dorm at Boise State University. We knew we'd have a day to ourselves so decided to check the Springs out. There were no spots available so my husband put us on the waiting list. He got an E-mail less than a day later about a cancellation so we got a spot. We were very pleasantly surprised. By reservations being required there was plenty of room in the main pool, hot tub & lounge chairs. It did not seem overly crowded or loud. There were no lifeguards so no "whistles." The locker rooms were very well kept & clean. TMI, but they had feminine hygiene products in the bathroom stalls which I know would be helpful in some situations! Once out in the main pool area they had sunscreen stations as well as ice cold water stations around the pool. You could either bring your own empty bottle or they provided plastic water cups. They had a laminated menu with plenty of appetizers & drinks. Good beer for $5 & mixed drinks for less than $10. Good selection of non alcoholic drinks as well. Your drinks were brought poolside in red solo cups so you could drink while in the pool or in a lounge chair. We ordered a charcuterie plate & it was loaded with different stuff. No scimping. Staff was very attentive & friendly. We will definitely be making this a regular stop when visiting the kids. I can't wait to come back in the winter! read more

Family Review We love this place! Clean, classy and well served. We tend to go in Sunday's, which is family day. They have tons of floaties and often extra goggles for the kids. Babies and tots need disposable diapers, but they do sell them there. You need a reservation a month in advance, at least during winter. With your admission you get a towel, a locker with a key, as well as pool side self service water and coffee/tea upon departure. You can order drinks (beer and wine too) and food right from the pool via servers and they will charge it to your card. The Mediterranean plate is amazing and huge, order it! Updating this review because I came here a week ago with my mom, and it is well-deserving of 5 stars! When we arrived and put a card on file, my mom was shocked that it was only $17 per person for the day. She kept referencing a place local to her in California that charges $50 for the same sort of experience. Not only is the price fabulous for what is provided, the customer service we experienced was phenomenal. The gal who assisted us at the front desk was so attentive, kind, and helpful. When we needed an extra towel or three, she gave them to us, no problem. She also thoroughly explained all of the commodities and gave us the sort of customer service you'd want to experience for a relaxing day-- there was no rushing us, and no treating us just like another customer to help. She was present and made an effort to make sure our experience was wonderful! Aside from this, I ordered lunch off their menu and it was actually delicious. I got a turkey panini on GF bread with a side, and I think it came out to $10, if that. It came out not too long after ordering and was the perfect mid-day pick me up. Last, the locker rooms are well kept and provide a great space for you to freshen up before you head back home. Their showers have hot water and come equipped with shampoo, conditioner, and soap. They also have hair tools in the bathroom to finish getting ready, and lady products in the bathroom stalls, should you need them. Very disappointed with the staff on Sunday February 9th. Had my sister in law make a reservation for 4 people and night prior experienced heath issue to which she wasn't able to attend. Staff was made aware to which they said we will let you know when you leave what we can do. Then upon exit say "there's nothing to do, you have to pay it" they were unconcerned and dismissive. "We could have sold it to someone else" If you want to feel racially profiled and talked down to feel free to go here and interact with the staff of The Springs. From passive aggressive servers to unprofessional front desk staff this was a horrible experience. Not to mention the uncleanliness of the lockers and the sauna being broken for the last 3 months. And as another review stated an employee in the locker while they changed I also experienced the worker in there "cleaning" however there was trash all over the bench before we came in and after we changed and left. Had a very poor time. Went for a relaxing morning and it was literally a hotel pool. Crowded, kids playing ball, families yelling at each other, and unflavorful food. No staff kept the area in ordinance as kids were jumping constantly in and out of the pool splashing everywhere. I have been visiting The Springs for a few years now and love introducing people who have never been. It's a quick drive from Boise and the closest thing I've found to a "spa experience" in the are. Yesterday we played hooky from work and took a ladies trip to celebrate a friend's birthday. The drive up this time of year is GORGEOUS with all of the changing colors! We arrived shortly after our reservation time and check in went very smooth. Each person was able to open their own tab and was provided with a key, locker, towel, etc... We quickly made our way to the large pool and ordered a round of drinks. **NOTE** ONLY 1 ALCOHOL BEVERAGE PER PERSON PER HOUR. This is not something I remember from previous visits but I'm not a big drinker and may not have noticed; however, they are very strict on this policy due to the effects of alcohol in the heat of the water. I ordered a bottle of wine to share and it was brought out in a carafe with a bucket of ice. The bottles of wine are reasonably priced ($22) and I love that they serve you in the water. After enjoying the pool for about and hour and a half we decided to order lunch. We ordered a Fresh Roasted Turkey Panini (to share) along with a Cheese Plate and a Mediterranean Mixed Plate. I would never order the panini again because I wasn't a fan what appeared to be packaged turkey lunch meat. However, I did enjoy the cheese and Mediterranean plates as they paired perfectly with my wine. The service was definitely a little on the slow side but when our server forgot my coke refill she brought me another one complimentary. Usually I enjoy visiting in cool weather but yesterday was a little on the warm side making the smaller/hotter pool nearly unbearable (for me). We went during adult hours and it was nice and quiet for the most part. The dressing room definitely gets packed if/when groups of people come or go but for the most part there wasn't a very long wait for the restroom or shower. Came here a few years ago during the summer and it was hot to sit in one of the circle pool. The rectangle pool you can swim in and isn't that hot. They also have a steam room. There's locker rooms for you to change in. The views are beautiful her. I recommend coming when it's abit chilly outside. The road getting up here is kinda tight so might be hard coming when there's snow. read more

We love this place! I almost hate to review it so people don't find out about it, haha. It's perfectly tucked into the mountains but also conveniently near the road. It's only $20 a person to use the main pool, hot tub and sauna! They also have private tubs, but I have not experienced those yet. They have pool side drink service (only three max per person) and food to order as well. We like to go on Fridays since it's adults only day, if you have kids they have family days as well. We have been coming here since they opened. We used to love the spa like atmosphere. It also used to feel more upscale. However, things have changed. This is our first time being here since they reopened after the pandemic. They no longer provide towels, extra toiletries (ie: combs, hair ties, etc), they slightly changed the lobby and it doesn't look as pretty. They charge the same amount for a swim, yet took away those things and you now can only swim with a set amount of time instead of the whole day. I just feel like it has lost some of its luster. I will say, every staff member we encountered was amazing. I even saw a staff member offer an extra hand to a gentleman with disabilities walk to the pool and offer a special floatation device on her own accord. And who doesn't enjoy a white claw and an IPA in the pool? I would just like the upscale, spa feeling back! read more
