We went to Randy after our previous CPA of many years retired. He did our taxes for a few years…read moreand, not paying much attention (busy professionals as we are), we later found out that many of the deductions we should have been taking were not being applied to our taxes. This year we spoke with several other CPAs, all of whom confirmed this for us. We decided to pay a second CPA to prepare our taxes this year after asking Randy if he could apply the deductions for us. Although the cost of paying two CPAs was not insignificant, our savings still exceeded the added expense. Nevertheless, Randy was surprisingly angry and rude when we gently told him we would be using a different tax preparer. Later, his online payment system went down. He notified us that we would have to pay him with a paper check this year. And so we wrote and mailed the check to him. Very shortly thereafter, apparently not having received the check, Randy went straight to threatening us with small claims court over the "late payment". In our process of asking around about tax advice we heard from a number of people that they too had either directly or indirectly found Randy to be angry, vindictive, and to have been inflexible with their tax preparation. Ordinarily, we would not wish to spread negative vibes on the internet, but having received numerous threatening communications from someone we have paid to do work we ended up not using, we felt we should caution others in our community.
