Words seriously can not describe how thankful I am with meriwest , Will, cortina. These two beautiful humans seriously gave me the motivation I needed to get back to life. I lost my bestfriend, my big brother, my supporter. He was my everything. With out realizing it I was sinking into depression and I was having a very hard time getting back to life with out him there. I was falling behind on my payments because I seriously could not hold my self together at work. I was starting to become more depressed because I'm never late on bills. Manpreet has me helped over many years, efficiently, with kindness and always ready to go beyond the call of duty as needed. She responds quickly to phone, email and in-person questions in a way that makes you feel as if your questions were her only focus. Went through Meriwest to refinance our existing mortgage and turned out to be a very frustrating experience mainly due to the lack of communication from our Meriwest representative. We had to follow up numerous times and ended up being dragged out over several months. Ended up escalating to a manager who wasn't much help either. We found a lot more information talking directly with the the underwriters. Advice to management: Review your end to end process and communication protocols with mortgage loans. Send out satisfaction surveys. You are losing out on opportunities! read more

I'm writing this review to recommend Creighton Galloway for his outstanding job helping us buy our first home in the San Jose Japantown neighborhood. We were totally clueless about how to get a mortgage and buy a house, and he walked us through every step of the way. We talked many times over more than 6 months as we went from putting out feelers, to getting pre-approved, to eventually getting our offer accepted. By the time we ended up seeing our dream house, all our finances were totally locked down and we felt 100% prepared. I think we ended up moving in like 3 weeks after taking the first tour. Curtis Linville is great however the Customer Service Department is absolutely horrible and predatory. I am currently on CA State Disability for mental illness and requested a short term forbearance until my checks start arriving. CA takes about 2 weeks to issue the first check, after my doctor filled out the necessary forms. I was given a forbearance for 3 days although I requested 3 weeks, 3 days does nothing. They will not assume any responsibility for their error and continually harass my wife and I with threatening 2+ weeks past dated letters (written on 9/12/22 delivered on 9/30/22) and constant phone calls along with almost daily letters sent for a payment that is not even yet in default. However we payed and were caught up on (9/15/2022 & 9/30/2022) and have zero outstanding payments due. My disability causes a great deal of stress mood swings and psychosis. I am in a daily treatment program to address this and working at this time is not an option. This experience has elevated my condition to a point of moving several steps backwards in my treatment. My family and I are now pursuing legal action as they are not following guidelines for ADA. My extended family is very wealthy and are helping us with this. If my condition was due to Covid-19 they would bend over backwards to help because they have to. This company lacks compassion unless they are required to do so by law. I am not looking to get anything for free or get over on them in any way, I was simply in need of a short term forbearance (2-3 weeks) and given 3 days. Being late by 12 days (I paid the mortgage on the month it was due) they threatened Short Sale and Foreclosure. For a payment that is yet to be in default! I know our house is worth 4 times what our loan is so I imagine they want our house badly so they can capitalize on the profits. I am not using my real name because I prefer to keep my condition private. Judging by the other reviews someone will probably contact us not because they want to help, they do not want negative reviews, but I will not change my opinion on this company. By the way as a Merwiest member of of 25 years I expect better service if we are truly owners. But that is just a front they use for their tax purposes. read more

Much props to Curtis for being able to close for us in 24 days! The main reason HKB and I went with them for our home loan is because of the HEART of San Mateo County program works exclusively with them. Due to the short sale nature of our place, we unfortunately had a deadline from the lien holder. We were scared of losing the place or facing per diem fines, but Curtis for worked late hours and pushed other involved parties to complete everything on time for us. The timing was amazing, and even our realtor was impressed by him. He was also pretty patient in explaining things repeatedly to us, since we're first-time homebuyers. Unfortunately, there's not much flexibility in terms of rates or closing costs probably because it's a credit union. read more

John Souza from Meriwest is a rock star. My wife and I found the house of our dreams, but it was just outside of our price range. Rather than give up, our realtor (Denise Padilla from Intero - also a rock star) thought we could potentially get a steal of a deal if our lender could close in less than two weeks, since the seller had already moved out and a major priority of his was to close quickly. Oh, and in addition to this, we also could only afford a 10% down payment, so we were working with a 90% LTV ratio. In our offer, we said that we could lift the financing contingency in less than 2 weeks, and this was key in the seller choosing our offer (which was not the highest offer on the table). This time frame is almost unheard of, but John was able to get us there, and we also got a very attractive interest rate through Meriwest. All the while, John was very professional, and had excellent communication with me throughout the entire process (I'm a needy customer so there was a lot of communication!). Absolutely the worst experience that I have had with a financial institution! To start of I updated my information through them and it was not recorded so all my information was being sent to a old adress. My card was sent to a old adress and was without a card for the better part of a month. The back office always holds my paycheck for over a week so I am unable to have funds available. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If you are smart run away from meriwest they will make your life a living hell. read more

Just getting around to this update. Got to the closing w/ FidelityTitle &amt didn't match the quoted email amt so I walked since they couldn't reach Debra from Meriwest. They finally fixed it, but it was a stressful weekend & required another trip to Fidelity & several more emails. I would never do business w/either of them again. To hide their fees, they get you to request more of a loan. Don't just focus on the rate & monthly amt; be sure you know the APR which tells you what you are really paying. The greater the spread between int rate & APR, the more fees they get! read more

My review is for John Souza at Meriwest mortgage. John is fast fast fast! Even when I didn't need him for my loan 7 months ago, he responded with my emails very quickly. Me and my husband just closed on a home today, and must I say John makes this process a breeze and stress free!! John was able to get our loan fully approved while in contract in 5 days! Keep in mind this is not 5 business days. He started on our loan on a Saturday. So grateful! The market is so competitive now a days... If you are thinking of buying a home, Your offer will look a lot stronger if you can completely remove the loan contingency prior to bidding on a home or have a shorter loan contingency. This makes a huge difference. All the documents I sent him were through the secure website where you have to log in. So he is not only fast but also convenient and secure. Everything he needed from me he would ask me through email me. If it was urgent then he would text me. He delivered on everything he promised. From the low rate, the time it took to remove loan contingency, contacting the title company and home insurance company and all the way to the time of closing. Which is today!
