So excited I was able to visit this store since the one and only location in Hawaii closed. It's a small store tucked on the left side of a huge salon, I was a little confused when I walked in. My go to product is their ultra powder foundation for sure! It's soo good! Usually I have to use a liquid then a powder but with this, it's basically two products in one! Only thing is they don't display prices so be expected to spend a quite a lot. The young lady working let me browse and try things on without pressuring me to hurry or make a sale. I needed all new make up, and had grown up using Merle Norman back in the 70's, when my mom started allowing me to wear make up. I had great memories of using their products, so I decided to seek them out again. I went in and purchased foundation, powder, two eye shadows, some concealer and an eye liner pen. I really wanted to love this stuff but it simply did not work on me. The foundation oxidized within an hour of application, the power had to be reapplied over and over, the eye shadow faded quickly and the eye liner completely changed colors on me. I tried to work with all of the items I purchased for over a week, but it did not get any better. I need at least 8 to 10 hours per day wear from all of the products I use. Merle Norman did not deliver for me. I went in to return the items I had purchased for a refund, per their store policy. What transpired has to be the absolute worst experience I have ever had from a customer service perspective. The owner of the store, Kimberly, became very agitated when she saw I was returning all of the items I had purchased, and showed no interest in understanding my explanation of why I was doing this. She became increasingly angry and rude, ranting on and on about how it was a loss for her store and a waste. She kept mentioning the time she had spent with me with me during a pandemic, allowing me to "try before you buy." I told her that I could not have anticipated in a single application whether or not the make up would wear well, etc. Again, she just kept going on and on about me returning the items. It got so bad that I finally asked her if she berated other customers like she was berating me. She then demanded that I return the gift with purchase that I had received or she wasn't going to refund my purchase. She said it was now her gift and I had to return it. She accused me of buying all of the make up for an event or occasion, using it once and returning it to get my money back after whatever I went to was over. I have never felt so insulted and browbeaten in a store in my life. I was truly shocked at the anger I witnessed during her temper tantrum. I was not rude to her, even though her behavior was very intimidating. She also sells jewelry. I was going to have my husband shop there for some of the beautiful crystal bracelets she sells for me for Christmas, but I will NEVER step foot in her establishment or spend a single penny there again. I am old school and grew up with my Mom back in the 80's when I was a kid we would frequent Merle Norman often for all of her beauty goodies. They have great quality products for face cleansing. As with any other brand the prices have increased over the last 20 years however not so much that it will keep me from buying their products. I miss the old days with my Mom when she would stop by and pick up makeup. They really treated you like a Queen then and really were hands on with demonstrating and selling the products. These days you walk in and pick up what you want and are on your way. The staff does not have the passion, knowledge or motivation to show me new products or demonstrate. I know what I want when I go in as I have been using the same products for years however show me something new rather than point to a display and say that is what is new. My last experience was poor, the employee had no clue about their makeup accessories such as a foundation brush. "She thinks this is the one I want or should have". Don't give me that, when I know more about the products then an employee does it does not make me feel like spending my money and shopping! The employees name is on my receipt however I will keep it to myself rather than name drop. I am disappointed, I don't expect the Outstanding quality of service that was issued back in the 80's however at least fake it til you make it and help a customer. If this type of service continues, then I see in the future Merle Norman being another statistic of going out of business and closing shop all together. Many moons ago my make up of choice decided to discontinue the shade of liquid foundation I used. I was having a hard time finding something else that was close to the color and felt light on my skin. I saw their sign one day after shopping at Smiths and made an appointment for a free make over. They did a great job, and I still use their liquid foundation and blush to this day. Their makeup doesn't feel heavy and it's gentle on my skin. Price is probably on par with most department store cosmetic counters. Their employees are always friendly and helpful. They have my info on file so I don't have to remember the shade that I buy, they look it up for me. It's convenient too, I don't have to worry about going to the mall. They occasionally have specials too, where if you buy 2 products you get a gift. That's always nice! read more

I go here to get my eyebrows waxed with Amy and she does a great job! I also got a facial a couple of months ago and it felt really good. Not sure I'll go back again for a facial, but I highly recommend Amy for waxing. And it's reasonably priced. I also bought a night creme (something with "Luxe" in it) which I loved, but it was a little expensive so I didn't buy it again (I'm a poor student). read more

She takes her time and makes sure you like them before she lets you leave. She is so affordable too. We went for facials and they felt good but not sure I would do it again. The steam didn't seem hot enough. For what was done, I could have done this from home. I will give it 5 stars because the gal who did the facials was very professional and I know she did her best. The owner was extremely sweet, giving us samples while smiling as we walked out the door. I have been going to this location for years.. Girls there are great , know their product and they give excellent service to you. So the company Merle norman has allowed another location to open less then 2 miles from this location , trying to force them out of business. We a lot of regular customers at the flamingo/buffalo location are banning together and will never EVER go to this new location .
