Writing this review a little late, but Lisa did my make-up for my wedding at the end of October,…read moreand I cannot say enough about how great she was! I really struggled with finding people who were experienced with non-white make-up and hair, and was overjoyed when I found Lisa. She was able to do my make-up (Black/mixed) and my mom (who is white). My mom wanted to try doing her own, and so Lisa worked with her to show her the best ways to do it and gave her pointers along the way (finishing out the parts that my mom wasn't able to do herself). When she arrived at my wedding venue, I was having a mini meltdown because I didn't end up finding anyone to do my hair, and was attempting to do it myself. She was super comforting and reassuring and even helped show my sister a better way to curl my hair. My makeup ended up SO beautiful and I felt amazing. She did such a wonderful job! The makeup wasn't too much or too over the top. I looked like me, but at my best, and it lasted the whole evening. I would absolutely recommend her, and go back to her in the future! Her rates were way more reasonable than artists who market themselves for bridal make up. She even came out to the venue for a reasonable fee. Most other artists were trying to charge hundreds for the make-up and then hundreds more to come out to the venue (or wouldn't come out at all if you didn't have a bridal party, which I did not). Absolutely LOVE Lisa, and would recommend her to anyone who is looking to get glammed for ANY occasion!

I've been a patient at Southwest Michigan Dermatology for many years. My doctor, Dr. Mohney, is…read moreextremely thorough and super nice guy. During my latest skin check visit a few weeks ago, he found a mole that had an odd shape, they took a biopsy, and a week later called and told me it was benign. Thank goodness. I have in the past had precancerous moles removed and Dr. Mohney and staff were professional and treated me with kindness and respect. It can be hard to get an appointment if you are not a current patient, as they are extremely busy and everyone is concerned about skin cancer. But I understand they are hiring new PAs, which will help ease the pressure.

I would never recommend Southwest Michigan Dermatology to anyone. Their office is chaotic. In the…read moreentry lobby, two TV screens going with different information, two sources of different music, as well as a recording of ocean waves playing! (Maybe trying to instill some calm over all of the other stimulation). It just added to the stress vibe. Every 30 seconds assistants call in a patient, two entry doors constantly opening and closing. Obviously, they are moving as many patients as quickly as possible. I was there for a pyogenic granuloma on the sole of my foot - similar to a blood blister but worse. Although the doctor who saw me was efficient, it was a no frills system with no preparation. He looked at my foot, told me what they were going to do - right then and there. He left the room and an assistant came in to numb my foot with Lidocaine injections. I've never experienced this before and there was no warning as to how painful it would be. There was no initial pre-numbing of the surface area, just 5 incredibly painful injections around the site. I've since researched, and there are topical lidocaine options to apply prior to giving the extremely painful injections. Apparently SMD can't waste the time making that an option for patient comfort. The doc came back in and did a curettage and cautery, taking samples for biopsy and I assumed, removing all of the lesion tissue. It all happened very quickly - In spite of the trauma of the experience, I hoped this would at least take care of the issue. It unfortunately did not, as the lesion returned as if nothing happened. Larger and more painful. I knew that I would absolutely not go back to SMD and have instead gone to Forefront Dermatology. Forefront was calm, collected and competent - office environment, staff and medical personnel. They assessed my lesion and told me that due to the fact that the granuloma came back and is so large, I will most likely need plastic surgery to accurately remove all of the tissue.
