We had…read morewater penetrating from the wall and floor of our garage, and finally decided that it was coming up through the concrete. The garage floor was 80 years old and only an inch thick. I worked with Danny on a scope that addressed the garage floor, the rear concrete deck, the sidewalk, and also provided painting and finishing in the garage. He was very patient while working out the scope and cut back or found much cheaper solutions for parts of the job. As usual, during the work Danny called me every day (how often can you say that about a contractor) to let me know the status or check on decisions. He recommended a more durable screen door replacement and he also replaced an existing light fixture at no charge. We identified some additional drainage problems that contributed to the leakage, and quickly agreed to an expanded scope to cover drain repairs at a reasonable price. His crew were extremely considerate, timely, reliable and knowledgeable. All of his recommendations were solid, and he worked hard to accommodate our budget. Where he couldn't, he was absolutely correct in recommending a slightly more expensive solution to address unexpected conditions and cut back on other parts of the scope. Today we have a watertight garage (which I thought would never be possible) that is clean, painted and useful. We were able to park our car in it, avoiding a major snowstorm, for the first time in ten years. Heavy rainstorms have not produced water inside. Danny is trustworthy and reliable and we are pleased with the work of each member of his team.

He called at 10 to say he was leaving. The broker, my wife, and I stood around till he shows inconveniencing us and the homeowner. He looks it over and also declares that we should use him for painting too as we want to repaint the entire home. In the entire time he took no notes, measurements, etc. We leave with Danny stating that he would be back to us with ideas in a few days. A week later he hasn't called so I email and call. Finally he texts back to say he was away for a few days and that he would call after the weekend. We never heard from him again. Thank goodness we never did business with Danny and Champion!

The Matras was among the very best of the numerous home improvement contractors I have worked with over the years. The planning stage was with Rocco. At my home and at the Estate Cabinetry showroom in Croton, he made great suggestions for materials, designs and colors and was obliging when once-or-twice I changed my mind on a selection or found something I liked online. During the three-week construction period, Anthony was on the job almost every day and Rocco was there often. Both take an old-school pride in their craftsmanship. Their crew was meticulous and the job site was always left neat and clean at the end of the day. The Matras did the entire project: planning, demo, installation, electrical, plumbing, taping, and painting. The only sub-contracting was for the granite countertop, which they handled as well. Frank picked up his phone right away and I sent him a photo of the table so that he was able to provide a quote. He quoted me a fair price and told me he'd be able to come ASAP, so I had him come by today. It took him all of 15 minutes to put it together! I think I spent more time actually cleaning my furniture lol. Frank is very professional and I enjoyed our conversation as he assembled my table. He sent me a text at 2:15PM that he got caught up at another job- although 2+ hours later, I wanted to give him a break as this scenario is very understandable in this field. That being said, I decided to reschedule to give him another shot. I made an appointment for the following Monday at 11:30AM and received a text at 11:30AM that he was in traffic. He asked if 12:00PM would be OK. Of course, no big deal- I'm already home for the appointment regardless. Come 1:00PM (another hour later) and I had both called/texted him and had yet to receive a reply as to whether or not he'd be coming at all. He texted me at 1:15PM saying he was leaving in 10 minutes to come to my house (from a local town). This was a bit frustrating as I had blocked off time from work to be home at 11:30AM, as per the original plan. He quoted us via text and I asked for the information formally (via email) as per my insurance providers request and I never heard back- ever. Maybe he didn't want the job... After a few more quotes I have to admit his was substantially higher (more than double) every other quote we received. Even though he had 1 5 star review, I felt good about giving this contractor a shot. Unfortunately, we wasted 2 afternoons accommodating for his arrival. We will not be trying back in the future.
