The water and breeze of Redondo Beach Pier is blue medicine. The reason why I describe the pier as…read moresuch is because the tension and stagnant spirit of a person can be lessened (maybe not fully evaporated) by the picturesque ocean nestled below. As we all know, there is a a saying that asks people to stop and smell the flowers. Meaning that each person should stop their steps intentionally to understand the fragrant beauty of a still and small moment, Otherwise we all might lose the meaning of life as we zoom/Zoom. But at the Pier there are no flowers, there are only blue-green waves rolling in a leisurely motion. And I stopped to record the calming waters as they strolled, and in that moment I felt a morsel of serenity for I was one with the elements that constitute a beachside. Of course, not all people go to the Pier for calmness, some people go for boardwalk buzz. And this place has almost that is needed to have a wonderful day. Now this place is not like the Santa Monica Pier, or the Jersey Pier, or the Santa Cruz boardwalk because it does not have rides and bells and whistles. It is mostly a place to stroll and enjoy food, drinks, sights, and churros and crabs. Like when night descends upon the pier it blankets it, there is no human made lights to shoo the darkness away. But that does not make les than the other famous piers just different. And also, during my last visit I saw a bird flying and floating across the water helping me understand the spectacle of nature's freedom in flight. I am sure I could have captured and understood this message in this and other piers because al of them have birds and stretches of ocean that seem to reach a point of both entrance and end. Yesterday,I went to the Pier because they have a free concert series during the summers. People had their chairs out, and towels and enjoyed the Irish melodies. They were not traditional Celtic songs that make people jig and want to wear leprechaun hats, it was modern Irish which was new to me. I also chastised myself for not being the type of person who comes prepared with snacks and chairs to enjoy, not only the musical performance, but the beach elements all around. I do wonder if I had the needed snacks and chairs, will I hate having to walk them from my car to the spot. And then I would likely chastised myself for not being the type of person who can just enjoy the music of band and sea. This pier has a lot to do, for sure. It may not be a tourist destination but it can be. But for now it is regarded as a local treasure by locals. It's parking is like 2 dollars an hour. Buf if you are willing to walk a few blocks, like two, it can be free. But that depends what kind of things you will carry to enjoy your time at the pier and nearby beach.

The shelves are crowded together, making the likelihood of knocking over a shelf very high. As expected from a tourist shop, prices are astronomical. There is a pressed penny machine owned by the shop. It was located near the Zoltar figure outside of the shop in the back area. It had 4 designs: Queen Mary, Shoreline Village, Long Beach, and (I believe) Pirates Cove itself.

I'm not sure where to begin, but the staff I came across while shopping here have all been extremely friendly, welcoming, and inviting. Service: 10/10. What a fantabulous find I explored!!!! My most favorite section of the store would be their stored gem stones section where half of the upper body of the pirate is located right by the cash register. Ambiance has to be 10/10 or 20/20. Even just the name of the store is extremely fitting. If you are into crystals or gem stones, this is the store to be. I will need to leave at least a few hours of shopping time to return here again in the future to stock up on more crystals because the value is just worthwhile. You can't beat $6.99 for a velvet bag full of crystals as long as the bag still closes at check out. Value~10/10. Can't beat the deals here. They offer a variety of souvenir items to purchase including Long Beach, CA. stickers which I also stocked up on top of Long Beach, CA., fridge magnets. I can so live here.
