I was referred to Merrick Oral Surgery by Kane Dental of Hempstead, I have an abscessed tooth & I'm in a lot of pain. I called them immediately after my Dentist appointment & explained to them that I couldn't eat & was in constant, excruciating pain. They told me they couldn't see me that day or the next but that I would have to come in the day after that. So I took the appointment & prepared to endure the next day & a half drinking my meals & taking Ibuprofen. It's Wednesday & my appointment was at 9am. I arrived early & as soon as I gave my name at the front desk the nasty receptionist says "You know it's only a consultation, right?" I told her of course I didn't know that, I expected them to remove my tooth & end my pain...why wouldn't they tell me that on the phone when I made my appointment? I asked to see the Dr. to see if it was possible for him to do my surgery today & the nasty receptionist told me I couldn't even speak to the Dr. until I filled out about 6 forms, back & front. I explained that I didn't see the point in filling out the paperwork if they weren't going to do the surgery today, I took today off from work to get this done. I couldn't believe it when she insisted & told me if I was going somewhere else to go somewhere else. That's when it dawned on me why they were so insistent I fill out the paperwork, they were determined to get paid for a consultation whether I used them for the work or not. when I made the appointment with them they should've made it clear my first visit was a "consultation" they duped me into coming there & they were determined to dupe me into paying them for a consultation I didn't need, want or was made aware of. Who does this? Who disregards the suffering of their fellow man in favor of the almighty dollar? MERRICK ORAL SURGERY DOES!! Do not park under the building!!! There were multiple signs around the building before you enter that say do not park under the building because it's for reserved tenants. Park next to the building in the parking lot, it's a bit tricky to find parking but hopefully after circling around 10-20 mins you should be fine. Located on the 4th floor, there are signs leading you to the right direction. A bit sketchy looking but what can I say. Came in for a 11:30am appointment for a consult on my wisdom teeth. Was taken in at 12:15pm. Be prepared to wait. First, I did an X-ray which only took a few minutes. Following that, I met Dr. Soh. Dr. Soh explained to me what procedure I needed to have done for my teeth and why I needed it. He briefly checked my teeth and told me that it was the perfect time to get it out. Place is trash everyone is rude and am banned because I was in pain and over reacted when I was told they wouldn't do surgery under sedation when they had sedAted me in the past .. then was made to feel like I was drug seeking because I wanted to be sedated for the extraction due to a very real fear of the dentist.. if you have to get a tooth extracted go to Nassau University Medical Center... tooth extraction is only like 165 dollars as opposed to starting at 350 at Merrick oral surgery.. wasn't even sedated was just given laughing gas and extra novacain and was one of the best dentist experiences I've ever had.. save yourself the time and money especially if you are self pay!! I would give Merrick oral surgery 0 stars if I could and only reason I had even went there in the past was because they used to be in network for me. I had 2 wisdom teeth removed and it was my first time being put under anesthesia and Dr.Soh and his staff were amazing and the kindest people ever. The receptionists were super accommodating and the MA's in the Room were so sweet and very attentive my favorite was Rebecca so professional and patient as i explained I was nervous she helped reassure me, the kindest human ever!! The room where I got my procedure was spotless and super clean and tools were properly sterilized and sealed properly. It's been 2 weeks since my removal and I've healed up perfectly fine! Was made a night guard for my teeth grinding in October 2020. The dentist had told me that the night guard is good for two years when I was fitting the night guard at the office. Now, it's April 30,2021 and it has a hole.So angry that the night guard did not last. The night guard was poorly made if it has a hole by now. Plus, it shows that the dentist underestimated the severity and frequency of my teeth grinding habit to give me this kind of night guard. It's a shame. I will never come back here.I thought this night guard was going to last for two years that the dentist mentioned. Worst dental office I have ever been to and it's not even for me. My sister had an appointment for oral surgery. I had to take off of work to pick her up after the surgery. Well, they demanded that I be present in the office DURING the procedure. This was never disclosed prior to my sister's arrival. I have never heard of such a thing. I've had office procedures before and never had to have anyone present during the procedure. Only upon picking up the patient does the driver ever have to be present. I asked to leave to move my car because i had to illegally park under the building and I was basically held hostage. Told procedure for my sister would cease if I left. Utterly ridiculous!!!!! Told them they would get tow bill if I got towed. Still didn't matter. Unprofessional, rude and unhelpful staff. Never again! The building is nothing to brag about but office was ok. I went in for a consultation with DR. Steven D'Abundo and the patient rooms are very nice with up to date equipment. I really like the x-ray machine! You just rest your chin in place while standing up then the machine goes around you. I hate getting x-rays when an office uses bulky plastic or cardboard that you have to bite down on. A month later I went back to get the 5 teeth that I needed extracted and it turned out to be the best experience I ever had with a dentist/oral surgeon. DO NOT GO HERE! I made an appointment for a consultation. I noticed I would be five minutes late and tried calling to let them know their phone said the office was closed. When I got there there's nothing in front that says their name so I tried calling again because I was lost. When I finally figured it out and got inside it was 1:10. My best friend had to get 3 of her wisdom teeth removed and asked if I could take her to her appointment since she was going to have to be sedated. We had a 9:30am appointment and were taking only a few minutes after. The entire procedure was probably a good 45 minutes. Dr. Rivera performed the procedure and was very patient with me as I asked her many questions in regards to what she did and instructions for my best friend to recover properly. The nurse who was taking care of us was also very attentative with us and also answered my questions as I thought of them. We had a great visit and will monitor the recovery process. read more

Then they said my tooth was too close to a nerve so I need to go to a hospital to take it out... the hospital will NOT make it safer to take out a tooth close to a nerve, it will be inexperienced residents performing the treatment, how is that supposed to make it safer?! I went to this surgeon Years ago. Now many years later they came up with a bill for me. They didn't do any work but rather only did a consulte which was over a $100. I had Dental insurance and they never did x-rays because I brought my own from the referring Dentist. It is a very small office and unprofessional. I have been having a lot of pain on my molar for a while. I went to dentist last week and made an appt. to get it pulled today. I went in at 2pm and was out the door minus one tooth 20 mins later. The people that work here were so kind and nice to me cause i was alone and crying and they made a painful experience much better. Response from Merrick Oral Surgery. During COVID times have changed. Appts and drs can only see so many patients in a day. We did not close 1 day during COVID. The waiting room must remain empty. New times. New rules only to protect the pts. Pre covid, appts were available same week. We had 3 drs working at one time , now we can't have that capacity in our office. In the last complaint, the appt was changed from 3:30 to. 12:30 on the same day. The dr was willing to work through lunch and the Pt was not happy but the dr cannot physically be in the office that day at that time. Sometimes there is nothing to make a patient happy but we do our best to serve the community. There is no reason for anyone to be rude unless we are spoken to in that tone. Went to have a consultation and experienced the worst service EVER. The staff member at the front desk is incredibly rude, disrespectful and loud. I overheard her mentioning other patients' personal information and yells at patients if the happen to make a mistake with the forms. When you get called in the rear rooms the girls in the back were making comments of patients' physical appearance and then engaging in their cellphone usage. I have never seen any supervision or anyone to correct the staffing behavior issues. This is the most unprofessional environment for such serious dental matters. If i could give no stars I would. As most people do, my brother has a fear of dentists. We had a 4:30 appt. in which they informed us that I had to wait for the entirety of the appointment since I was his ride home. Fine. Then it was 5:30 and we still had not been called in, but they told us only another ten minutes. 6pm we get called in, sit in the chair, a nurse came in. I have never heard such a condescending attitude. She had no clue why we were there. We at this point are frustrated. In which she says "your here for a consultation right?" I had a back tooth pulled. The Novocain they used did not last, I told the dentist, and she started pulling my tooth anyway. WTH! I felt everything. The pain was unbelievable! ! wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. I was shaking and crying. I told her I could feel it, her answer to me was it's just pressure. Excuse the hell out of me but, I'm pretty damn sure I know the difference between pressure and pain. My god that was just horrible, and to think she will be getting paid for this. My 87 year old mother was referred to this office for tooth extraction by her dentist. The dentist took the X-rays AND identified the teeth needed to be extradited. I called the office and specifically said I'm scheduling an extraction for my mom. Once at the office the receptionist gave her the new patient paperwork. The receptionist then took the referral from the dentist. They took additional X-rays and told my mom that today's appointment was a "consultation" since she was a "new patient". Plus the fee was $500. My mom called me over and I explained that I called for an extraction appoint AND their confirmation call said someone needed to be with her for the extraction. The receptionist said they don't have the X-rays. I said everything is digital and they can get it from the dentist. I mentioned the dentist has identified the teeth to be extracted on the referral as well. She went to speak to the surgeon and returned saying the fee is $600 for the extraction. After the procedure they tell my mom the prescription will be sent to her pharmacy. We arrive at the pharmacy 10-15 minutes later. No prescription can be found. We ""assumed" it didn't transmit any wait another 15 minutes. Still no prescription sent. I call and the office says they are sending over a good 20 minutes after her procedure. A shame and shameful treatment of our elderly. Please accompany your senior relatives to advocate on their behalf. read more

Dr. Steven D'Abundo. If I could give YOU zero stars I would. Took my daughter for an extraction. The IV sedation didn't work at all. Then came the shot that he literally just stabbed in her mouth. Immediately after that he started pulling the tooth. I heard her screaming like she was being murdered from the waiting room. I asked them if this was normal and they said yes. Its NOT normal. I had my upper right eye tooth pulled there 2 years ago with only 2 shots of Novocain and had no problem. I went back Mon. (11/27/17) to have my upper left eye tooth pulled and had the most awful time of my life. After giving me 4 shots of Novocain he pulled it and I felt everything! Needless to say I was screaming my head off. I heard screams coming from the other examining rooms also. By the time I got to my car I was not numb at all. i was sent there on a Monday by my dentist for surgery there were two woman at the front desk the one who took care of me was very rude, and was wearing her mask as a chin strap. the woman who took me in for xrays and the dentist I seen were professional, as luck had it they could not due the surgery that day having to stop one of my meds for 48 hours before. they would not give me a appointment until a letter was sent to them from my doctor. I called later that afternoon to see if the had it was told that they would call me when it was faxed over, I never received the call by Tuesday afternoon, I checked with my doctors office was told it was sent the day before. I called Merrick Oral the woman i spoke to had to look for the fax found it and gave me appointment for Friday morning I arrived a few minutes early sign in and began my wait, after about forty minutes waiting and seeing three other people arrive between 20 to 30 minutes after me i went to front desk spoke to the woman with her mask on her chin if she had any idea when i was going to see dentist, I was told when he could fit me in, I could understand if that happened on the Monday when I first went in, this visit I made a appointment and was told what time they had openings. i can not say good or bad about doctors in this office, the staff members that I had were ill-mannered and abrupt. i rate then one star because I can not give them zero star read more
