The hygienist is so delightful and kind. She was so patient and informative during both of my visits. During my first visit I had my toddler and she was having a fit and one of the hygienist and doctors came out to help soothe her. I thought that was so sweet. During my second visit one of the receptionist charged me without confirming with the hygienist. I had to call her after I left the dentist to confirm again that the procedure was not done. She was also rude over the phone and tried to blame the hygienist when I tried to clarify while I was still at the office. I would give this place 5 stars but one of the receptionist needs to work on her tone when speaking to the patients. Thankfully she is not the first face you see when you enter the building. She is the receptionist at the second entrance. Overall everyone else at this office is genuinely kind and super sweet. I'm glad I found this place for me and my family. read more

I am 81, and of course, have been going to the dentist for decades. The worst treatment I ever got was in the US Army 1955,56,57,58 The dentists in the Amry in those days didn't care. And probably a dozen dentists until I got to Oceanside Family Dental. Everyone there was beyond pleasant, efficient, helpful, and charming. Short wait, explained what my various problems were and the solutions in language that I could understand, and then proceed to correct the problem. From cleaning and exam to repairing crowns and implants the work was of the highest quality. I wouldn't go anywhere else, and have recommended and will continue to do so to everyone I know. Awful service. I was referred to them and went to them for about 4-5 years. Every time my experience got worse. The "billing manager" aka (the heavyset woman who sits in the chair pretending to not listen to everyone's billing questions) is the issue there. Always about the money and the paperwork. NOT YOUR DENTIST EXPERIENCE OR DENTAL CARE. I'm done with that place because of her 95% - but the young new X-ray technician they hired, that I had to literally show how to set the X-ray beside my mouth had no idea WTF she was doing. I honestly felt bad for her, and as a result it took about 45 mins to take my dental X-rays. I assume she's not still there after that, but with that places reputation? She probably is. Very poor and dishonest service! They charged me for 3 fillings that are covered by insurance. When I found out and requested a refund, they lied to me and said they were bondings not fillings. I had to call many times to speak with the dr and sort it out. They finally refunded the money after a month! Had I not find out about it, I would have lost $550! read more

Omg what a horrible experience. I mixed up an appt they rescheduled for earlier time. The office manager treated me like a criminal even though i admitted, apologized and agreed too pay charge. Be careful here, they charge for things that are covered by insurance. In my case I have two insurance plans and they billed both in full plus charged my son. When you finally get a refund it's in the form of a credit. They constantly push services that aren't covered right down to a rinse. It's all about money here. If you keep paying they will love you, question anything and that's when they get rude. They also told my son he had a cavity then when he. Amen back for the filling they decided he didn't have a cavity. My guess is they didn't want to honor the credit they gave. read more

I have been a patient of doctor R (Rosenfeld ) for over 10 years. To say I hate going to the dentist is an understatement. She is so amazing and disarming I have and will continue to refer all my friends and family to her exclusively. I read the previous reviews and they don't accurately depict this practice. I only see doctor R and suggest that's who you ask for. As far as billing the office manager Diane is amazing, she is also who you should ask for in regards to any billing or schedule dispute you may have. Any dental office I've gone to has always offered a travel size tooth brush and small tooth paste after your cleaning or at least will ask. I've come here twice and neither time did they offer. It's the small things that strike an office as exceptional and I just don't feel that way about them. I will continue coming here unless I find another choice. Their front desk is organized and both doctors seem to explain things well. My only few notes are: give your patients a small tooth brush and paste after cleaning. Do not push on the anti-bacterial water with the teeth cleaning because I did not notice any difference with it. It's extra $30 for no reason. I also find it unprofessional of the hygienist to ask as a first question "So what do you do?". Does it matter? read more

I wanted so much to like this place as it is not far from where I live and accepts my insurance. However, I agree with the other review about them pushing services that are out-of-pocket like they are car salesmen. Apparently everyone that walks in there has "periodontal disease" and needs 6 cleanings a year. I knew I was covered for twice/year cleanings but was admittedly unaware that they had to be at least 6 months apart - they scheduled me for a cleaning exactly 5 months after my last one and then told me I owe $130 dollars. Like I said, my fault for not being more aware of the details of my policy - but kind of shady of them if you ask me. I will definitely not be going back to this place. read more

If I could give this place zero (0) star I would. It all started when I began to experience teeth sensitivity. I called Oceanside family dentist and made an appointment and had to take a day off from work to go in because they had no weekday after 5 pm or Saturday availability. When I got to the office I was told that there was no appointment for me, I was upset because I took the day off for that sole purpose, to see the dentist which I conveyed to the receptionist.They managed to squeeze me in. I thought that forgetting to schedule my appointment was the worst thing that this office could do but I was in for a surprise! The dentist had prescribed a paste for my teeth sensitivity which they neglected to call in to the pharmacy even though I reminded them numerous times. Finally, after several calls they called in the prescription but lo and behold when I went to pick it up at the pharmacy the Oceanside Family Dentist had called in Amoxicillin, an antibiotic, for me when I knew the dentist told them to call in a fluoride paste. I called Oceanside Family Dentist and they admitted the wrong prescription was called in. How can one office be so incompetent and mess up so many times with one person. To compound an already bad situation they did not even apologize for their incompetence. I warn everyone be aware of this place their incompetence will put your lives at risk!! read more

STAY AWAY!!!! They missed an obvious defect in my 5 year old's enamel when he got his first check-up in the winter. Over the past four days he had a major infection that almost hospitalized him, had to be put under general anesthesia, and needed two extractions, two root canals and crowns, and another four fillings. And four different medical professionals all agreed the damage started a year prior, and was attributed to a condition he was born with which should have been easily identified by Oceanside Family Dental. Instead they said he had "Excellent Oral Hygeine" and "whatever you're doing, keep doing it!" He should have been on prescription mouthwash and toothpaste this entire time, and because he wasn't, we've all gone through hell, especially him. And worse still, when I went in to collect his records and told the staff this is what was happening, the dentist was too busy to face me! They didn't even call to ask if he was okay!! Totally heartless!!! DO NOT TRUST THIS PRACTICE, ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN!!!! THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!!! read more

The work they do is just fine, it's the billing that's an issue. Whenever you question a charge they get loud and if you know what you are talking about they get louder and tell you you need to speak with an office manager that is never in the office. If you do not understand your dental insurance proceed with caution and call your insurance company to verify your co-payment and coverage before paying this office a dime. They do not do refunds. Don't allow them to pressure into work that they say is "not covered", explore your options first. read more

OMG...okay so everyone hates going to the dentist, but we all have to go regardless. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this practice. Dr. Melissa is just a fresh of breath air in a field that is associated with weird drilling noises and lots of anxiety, she is gentle, kind, caring, and even has laughing gas for those of us who need a little something. Her staff, you know the apple doesn't fall to far from the tree line, well they are all so attentive. Everything from when you walk in to when you leave make the experience a great one. In the office there are adorable plaques on the wall with inspiration sayings, they offer you headphones if the noise from the drills upsets you, my goodness they even offer you a blanket if you feel a chill. I know that to earn a degree in dentistry you have to work hard, but to be able to make your office feel so comfy and make each patient feel like an old friend....well that you cannot be taught. I could not have been happier, except of course if I were on a beach someplace warm. Highly recommend this practice! read more

Awful office! My family has been coming here for awhile and I have never felt comfortable with them but due to insurance I didn't have a choice. A few months ago my then 6 year old had to have a few fillings. They gave him laughing gas, after I said I didn't think it was necessary. He had a bad reaction. He got abit nuts and jumped out of the chair and was not easily calmed down. They suggested a pediatric dentist. (Gee..thought this was a "Family" dentist's office). Unfortunetly our insurance doesn't cover pediatric dentists. Well yesterday (Father's Day) my now 7 year old woke up with a very bad toothache. His tooth looked like there was a hole. We tried giving him tynelol and putting orajel on the tooth but that did not help. I called Oceanside Family Dental. Of course they were closed, but I left a message on their emergency line. Half an hour later, still no call back. I called again. Waited 45 minutes. My husband suggested we call an oral surgeon whom we were referred to but have never been to. I called them and left them a message. Now I called Oceanside Family Dental for the 3rd time! I did get a call back....from the oral surgeon we have never been to. He was concerned about my son having an infection. I explained everything to him and he wanted him on an antibiotic just in case and wanted us to take him to Oceanside Family Dental the next day. Kept giving our son tynelol, orajel and then the antibiotic. My husband called Oceanside Family Dental the next day to make an appointment. They did. Within an hour they called my husband back and said they refused to see him because of the reaction he had the last time he was there! (the laughing gas incident...)!!! Are you kidding me? I called the office and had an argument with the receptionist, Dr. Rosenfeld would not get on the phone with me. This was completely unprofessional. What happened to caring about patients? What if my son had an infection? I was very upset to say the least. I ended up taking him to another dentist entirely, I called this Dentist, told them the situation and they said to bring him in right then and there. My son did have an infected and decayed tooth! He had a great experience with this new dentist. They were so kind and treated him like a 7 year old. Unfortunetly he doesn't take my insurance but I will be going there from now on! So upset with Oceaside Family Dental. Do yourself a favor and don't go there. They are more worried about making money with unnecessary procedures and products than they are about the well being of their patients. read more

So, nobody likes going to the dentist BUT this place is unlike any other office I have ever been to. From the moment you walk in, you feel so at ease. The staff is very warm and the office actually runs pretty much on schedule. There are tv's in every single room so that makes the time go by quickly and each room has these serene calming sayings on the wall. While waiting to be seen, one might actually feel like he is sitting and relaxing as that is the environment they have worked hard to create. Aside from this, how about the fantastic dental treatment and cleaning and restorative things they do. My goodness, you can even have Dr. Rosenfeld give you a shot of botox if you need a bit of tightening. She is really amazing. Her knowledge is boundless and she makes you feel like you are the only patient. She always has time to answer your questions. As I said, nobody likes the dentist but we all have to go. This office is a ten out of ten and I would recommend that anyone who has a dentist they are not happy with or needs a new dentist give them a call. Thanks Doc! read more
