The staff is friendly enough, however, there was only three tables seated in the entire restaurant and it took extremely long to have service, take her drink order, then come back take our food order, then at least another 30 to 45 minutes before we received our food. Then no one came back to check if we needed anything or refills on drinks. The food was average. It wasn't great. Nothing to write home about. I haven't been to a Perkins in awhile but I have fond memories of the food being good. Stayed near this Perkins while on a road trip and grabbed dinner here. Everything was great, better than I remembered! The service was awesome, we were seated quickly, got our drinks quickly, food came out quickly, and our server checked on us multiple times for drink refills and the like. Now Perkins isn't a Michelin star rated place. They serve solid diner food and have good desserts. The food at this Perkins was excellent and exactly what 3 people weary from 10 hours of driving needed. I got a patty melt and it was quite simply the best patty melt I've ever had. Absolutely the worst restaurant from Phoenix to DesMoines. 7 customers in there when we went in and waited 20 minutes for someone to take order then a half hour to get absolute garbage when it finally came. My mom, friend and I were at Perkins last night. We were not greeted when we first walked in. After we were finally taken to our table, we waited 10 minutes before anyone took our drink order. By then we were ready to put our food order in. My mom asked for lemon in her water, but it came with no lemon and no straw. Our friend wanted the turkey meal, but apparently they were out of turkey. He had to choose something else. The menus were sticky and there were at leading 4 tables that weren't cleaned. Once we received our order the waiter never checked in with us. He also never asked us if we wanted dessert. I had to flag him down for ketchup. And my plate kept moving when I was cutting my fish. Very annoying!! Not sure when we'll be back. read more

When we were sat we were told "Val is the only waitress showed up." I had suspicions that the service would be slow and poor. Val quickly eased my mind with quick and friendly service. So we get to Perkins at around 6:20, we don't see our drinks until 7:05 then we order our food, nothing but silence until we decide to leave at 8:10. the waiter then comes out with 2 out of 11 of our orders, we tell her that the service was unacceptable and then we find out they were serving to-go orders as a priority over ours. The manager comes out and calls us a bunch of liars because the server put our order as 7:30. We then start walking out but my grandma was callled over to another table by some guys to explain the situation, the manager then came out speed walking towards my grandma(I thought this 6 foot manager would fight my grandma)and said my grandmother was spreading lies and told her she needed to leave. I love this Perkins. I have been going here since I was in high school and have seen it go through many changes. You cannot expect to get Michelin-star food here, but if you want to go for late night appetizers or breakfast food it's the spot. If you go, please order their Chocolate French Silk Pie. This specific Perkins has some of the best bakery pies hands down. I end up here once a year for breakfast when I'm driving through North Platte (there isn't much else in the area). Not everything I have had has been very good, but this time the waitress recommended the farmers omelet and hash browns. I liked both. I tried the peanut butter silk pie. There's not much in North Platte. There is the biggest hump yard at the railroad, a museum or two, not many hotels at all (I'd recommend Oak Tree Inn with their free big breakfast). Argh! Haven't been to one of these places since I stopped over night in Mason City, Iowa. Oh, wait. I ate breakfast in one of these places this morning. Except it was spelt Village Inn. Marie Calendar's, Village Inn and Perkins are all the same place. Food was good enough that it stays down. That counts for something lately. Why is all Cajun foods "Raging" and why is it always on pasta? It was okay, not exceptional. Service sucked barely within in acceptable limits. AVOID THIS PERKINS! I would like to award negative stars. We walked in and the lobby was packed with travelers. We were sat relatively timely, but it went downhill from there. The tables around us complained to the waitress that their food was taking forever. It was only then that she explained that they were down to one grill and that was the reason for the delay. However, when my food was delayed FOR 45 MINUTES, the waitress said "Oops, I forgot to put your order in." I should have got up and left and this point, but she put a "rush" on the food....it still took another 25 minutes. She did apologize profusely and said the meal would be free or discounted heavily. I guess this translated to the harried and unkempt manager into a measly 20% discount. Whlie we were sitting there for over an hour waiting for food, you could tell the place was DIRTY and gross. We were one of only two tables in the restaurant. It took over 20min to get our food. They charged us for our kids drinks and the food ranged from just above warm to barely warm.
