First off there are people who are…read moreway under 55+ years old that live there that are at all levels of dysfunction and management doesn't have to disclose that to you at all. The management will do nothing for you. After months of bringing to their attention about noise complains which they did nothing whatsoever about. My spouse and I were attacked at our front door from the people who were causing all the problems. We complained in person, by, phone, then weeks later after they requested, we do it by email. They still did nothing. Too top it off they made us move. Once you get past the front gate you see it all especially after the office closes. Junkies using drugs passed out in the stairwells and garbage rooms. Nut jobs running around screaming yelling vandalizing private property and the community. You get to walk through human/ animal urine, feces, vomit, garbage. The gate was broken 8 months or missing at times. Cars were stolen and broken into. It's nightmare. I'm still dealing with the aftereffects of this horribly managed property, and I am a severely handicapped senior. Save you time, money, energy, safety, and your sanity RUN!!!!!!!!

I don't even know where to start…read more The gates keeping the elderly members have both been broken for months, allowing weirdos, drug addicts, and other unsafe/transient individuals into the property constantly. Today, there were two people just hanging out in the stair well in my mom's building, telling us some story about how their house had just been "raided by the police" and going off on some odd story. We said "sorry we can't help you" and continued along on our way. They continued to linger and try to talk to people for the next few hours. The man even yelled at me as I went to my car to get something I left down there. ' Almost NIGHTLY, there are random people showing up at the units next to and across from my mom's unit. Tonight, it's a guy just BANGING on the door, incessantly, and it's been 15 minutes. I popped my head out and said "Dude. Nobody is home. Please stop" ( in safer neighborhoods this would not happen). He yelled back "YES he IS HOME!!!" and he's still out there knocking like a mental patient. WTF Last December (2023) we had the giant ice storm on the 23rd. I was visiting my mom with my kids for Christmas, and wanted to run down to my car to get my wrapping paper so I could wrap some gifts. Once on the first floor, I walked out of the elevator and about 15 feet away (the ground was covered there, and looked wet), I slipped on SOLID ICE, so hard that I LANDED ON THE BACK OF MY HEAD. I blacked out for a minute. When I came to, My ears were wringing, my hands were NUMB, and the back of my head felt split open. I felt the cold ice under me, and remember trying to yell "Help!!!" A neighbor came out to check because she literally heard my skull crack against the ground, and that was what made her come outside. 911 was called and the paramedics checked me out. I suffered a terrible concussion, but they couldn't get me in to the hospital that night due to icy roads, and told me to go in as soon as possible for a CAT scan. My POINT is- NOBODY at the property put up "warning- icy ground/roads" signs. NOBODY put salt down to de-ice the walkways. The didn't do ANYTHING to prevent someone from slipping in the walkway- a part of the building that residents should feel is safe to walk on. I'm glad it was me that fell, and not one of the elderly residents- someone older could have died with a fall like that. (It was legit like a cartoon where the legs go straight out and up, and you land back on your head. Just awful.) In addition, there used to be carts in every building, so the residents can cart their loads of groceries and things up to their homes in the elevators. In the past 2 years, homeless people have stolen ALL of the carts, and the property managers have not replaced them. WHY? Why would you offer housing, and not take proper care of your tenants? I don't understand. Oh, and the icing on the cake: I was here about 3 weeks ago visiting my mom. We were headed down to the car to go run errands. From the walkway we saw a man outside of the rear gate trying to gesture at us. My mom said "Just ignore him" and I said "Yeah, obviously." So we rushed to the car and hopped in. As soon as I had my door closed and my mom had gotten in, this guy had slid through the opening in the gate, and busted ass over to my car- he was right outside my window, and when I looked- HE FLASHED ME. I saw his P***s. I was NOT expecting it, especially so close to my car at eye level. I screamed and honked my horn for a long time, and turned on the engine and drove away. My mom wanted to stop at the office to notify the office workers. I was told they haven't done anything to prevent creeps from just wandering into the property. I called the police to report it, but sadly in Burien, a guy flashing people does NOT take priority. This has been a sampling of my experiences visiting my mother who lives here. I really don't recommend living here. If you need to find affordable housing, try a neighborhood that doesn't have such high crime rates. If you can.

I don't typically leave reviews but each time I've visited, there has been some kind of event happening. One time there was a live high school jazz band, another time it was happy hour for the residents, another time there was music piping in and the residents were just randomly dancing. My biggest prayer for my mom, is that she experiences this kind of joy in her sunset years. Thanks to Richard, John, Mallory and all the staff at El Dorado that work to provide this experience for our loved ones.

I vetted many assisted living facilities, with the help of a place for mom, and independently searched others on my own, all doing tours and serious meetings. My father is very critical and I knew in order for this to work I would have to find the right spot. Immediately I know this was the spot after touring many. The staff have helped me and my father so much, from my emotional downs, to all the logistics of this change. He uses both their physical therapy and their assisted living that is available. All have been great! Because it is independent the cost is so much more affordable but still it offers everything an assisted living facility offers. The place really is a gem and you must stop in before you make any decisions for your loved one. They do it right. One thing I found when touring is I paid very close attention to the residents, where they happy, these residence are very happy, the other day they where dancing during the Friday happy hour with a live singer songwriter they had for the social hour. It is such a sweet community. Also I would notice if the staff were happy and proud of where they worked, immensely, and they help so much. To sum up my review, which I don't review typically, but have so much gratitude for my dads new home I had to, the one thing my Dad has praised me on since this life change for him is, "You really found me a good spot to live." So thank you to the staff and to this community for being a haven for us during this time. So much gratitude.

Daniela comes off as sweet as can be and can be very convincing of all that they do and how they care for everyone. And in fact, my Dad passed shortly after that because he developed pneumonia because he was unable to move. He was sent to the hospital on the 2nd day of the month, never returning to the home. Not only did they not care properly form my Dad they refused to refund any $$$ even though he only spend 1 day in the home and I paid them on the 4th of the month...while he was in the hospital. At our initial visit to the home, owner Daniela…read moremade 3 promises (menu planning/food options, transportation provided for medical appts. and staffing increasing based on needs), only to backpedal on all three later. These lies were some of the deciding factors as we searched for the right home for our father with dementia. Since moving in, staff turnover has been consistently frequentFor example, just in 2020 at least 8 caregivers were brought in and left, leaving more gaps in knowledge and more unknowns for us, unable to visit because of Covid 19. A house manager who lied to us about multiple issues and showed unprofessional behavior toward residents, staff and our family was fired, only to stay living in the upstairs of the house and come back into employment at this house and others within AFH. We have dealt with major gaps in communication and follow through with the main office. We have stayed positive. We have watched my father and others in the home have their social and movement needs ignored while staff sit on their phone. It has been very difficult to advocate for his care with AFH. Perhaps all adult family homes come with sacrifices in care levels and expectations. I can speak only to our experience here. But the work it takes merely to stay abreast of the changes in the home and advocate for my dad's care needs (which have never been fully met until now when he is under hospice care) has been exhaustive and heartbreaking.
