They both state that they really enjoy the meals and the dining facilities, also the opportunities to socialize with others in a variety of dining options. I am unable to address the costs with any accuracy so I will say I only understand that fees are 'hefty'. But that includes all expenses. The family members support each them with frequent visits and supplement anything they need. At times, the staff is not 100% on the ball and require that we keep check on doctor's orders. It is important to do this since health issues are involved.  There are a variety of activities offered and many residents take advantage of the offerings and state that the choices are outstanding. These activities offer so much, friendships, socialization, enjoyment and much more. The programs are high quality and open to all. So far, the individual apartments are pretty basic. The windows are large and open onto lovely landscaping. Moving in required that each family member had to leave much behind and only bring in a few treasured items to fit into the small apartments. For our family members it is important that we 'supplement' their lives with our support. We do so with love and affection.

Every time I visit the Ida Culver house, I am just so impressed with the quality of the staff. One of the places where the staff has an opportunity to really shine is in the dining room. Every time I am there, I am just so impressed with how the staff handles their roles, how kind and engaging they are with the residents. At the end of pretty much every meal, "someone" seems to always mentions how great the staff is.

Security is solid--you check in at the front desk and get a visitor badge--and there's plenty of parking. The party was held in the game room downstairs, with a huge spread of food: chicken wings, pizza, cold cuts, veggies, chips and dips, popcorn, mozzarella sticks, desserts, cookies, plus beer and soda. A big‑screen TV made watching the game easy, and lots of residents were there with their families. Both the game room and dining area have a beautiful view of Lake Washington, which made the whole event feel even nicer.

Parkshore Retirement community is a CCRC (continuing care retirement community) and follows strict…read moreguidelines laid out for CCRC's. Once accepted a CCRC essentially pledges to look after you for life. My wife and I have considered numerous CCRC's to move to and feel Parkshore is one of the best. It's in a great Madison Park village just 4 miles from downtown Seattle...quiet, safe, great area restaurants and a wonderful local (Bert's Red Apple) grocery store, and lots of active young and old people coexisting very nicely together. Parkshore is a 15-story 50-year old high rise built right on, and OUT over, Lake Washington. Million dollar views (OK those views cost MORE these days but the point is they're right there) are outside every resident's window. They're going through a massive multi million dollar upgrade to the property and, when finished, it will be outstanding. We've found the staff, starting with Ann Vey, to be simply exceptional! I don't know what the one YELP reviewer found to the contrary but believe Parkshore will do its best to be just that...the best! We love where we've lived, Friday Harbor, WA, for the past 8+ years and believe we will be equally pleased to call Parkshore...home!

I'm very concerned about their treatment of customers and patients. My sister was banned as a…read morepatient, my employee was banned as a visitor. A freind was continually not allowed to discuss care with the manager. I had an unpleasant experience while checking in my mother, they did not want me in the waiting room. So I placed my mother in a different place at less than 1/3 the cost with superior care. I simply don't understand anything about their operation. Now, possibly the people associated with me are trouble, right? But none of us are banned anywhere else! Literally people outside the doors of the place whisper to me, don't bring your mother here!

That being said, I was not impressed with their decision to tell my mother to leave once it became clear that she was going to be difficult (and expensive) to care for. HH advertises itself as providing the whole range of life care from supported living to nursing and dementia care. I think for anyone in independent living, it is a wonderful and vibrant community. But once you need more support, you will either need to be wealthy enough to hire outside caregivers, or move to a different facility. An update: After HH decided they wanted to kick my mother out, they reported her to the state's Adult Protective Services for "self-neglect" and me for "neglect." They said that they asked her to move to another facility and we "didn't follow through." Note that: my mother chose to pay a substantial nonrefundable sum to live at HH because she understood that as a continuing care facility they would take care of her until the end of her life; we asked about temporary or permanent supported living arrangements at HH and were rebuffed because they didn't want to deal with the liability and expense of managing her; and as a result we were, in fact, in the process of finding another placement for her outside of HH at our own expense.

My mother moved to Queen Anne Manor from out of state, and has thrived. She is very involved with…read morethe residents, loves the outdoor terrace and her designated little raised bed to work in. With the stability and regular routine her health has improved to the point where she is walking around the block in the lovely Queen Anne neighborhood. The staff obviously care about the residents and a highlight for my mother are the activities and planned bus rides all over the Seattle area. It is the highlight of her week!
