I've been coming here since I took the 6 week class and been buying the day passes. This place is THE BEST. I like that the day passes give me the flexibility to come whenever I feel like it. They have two shelves for day pass work, so you can leave your work here to dry. The staff is also super friendly. Having the store right next door has been so convenient -- I've bought some of my own tools from there. If you're thinking about coming here, just do it!!! The private lesson, group classes, and day passes are great.

*did a private class* Our instructor was Jenneva and she was so fun! I liked how instructive she was and helpful, she made it effortless and she's overall cute vibes. We did a two person private event/ class and were able to successfully throw 3 cups/bowls and it came out super well! I highly recommend jenneva as a teacher. The 6week classes are hard to get into so if you want to try it out once I would suggest to book it this way. They were also super friendly when it came to making a time slot, they gave us a few choices to pick from and we had booked this class three months ago. Whoever I talked to via email was nice and I liked how simple it was to set up!

I loved everything about this experience. The location, the teacher and I'm obsessed with my little green cup. I'm always looking for new hobbies and ceramics is one that's been on my list for a while. Merritt ceramics was my top choice because of its convenient location. It's close to my house & the lake but I didn't have trouble finding parking. The instructor was really helpful and she emphasized how physical ceramics is so we should rest after. I appreciated that insight a lot because I hadn't considered it. They also offer 1 time classes, 6 week courses, and monthly memberships. I'm still trying to figure out which session I'm going to join I can't wait to go back & thanks for the 5 star service

I started my clay journey with Clay by the bay and was lucky enough to build out my shed to be a working studio.

Unfortunately, our experience was incredibly disappointing from start to finish. We were the first customers to arrive when they opened, yet there was no one at the front desk. We stood there waiting until an employee finally came out. He had us sign a waiver even though we had already completed it online. The first thing we noticed was how dirty the place was. There were used Band-Aids and blood-stained alcohol wipes scattered across the check-in counter. It immediately gave us concerns about the cleanliness of the facility. When it was time for axe throwing, the employee asked if we'd done it before. We told him we hadn't, and he replied that he didn't really know how to do it either. The only instruction he gave was that he thought we should hold the axe at the base and throw it. There was no demonstration, no safety briefing, and no guidance. The axes and throwing knives were extremely dull and rarely stuck in the target. At one point, half of the wooden target wall split in two and fell to the floor, exposing the wall behind it. Despite this obvious safety issue, the employee was nowhere to be found. He disappeared into the back office and never checked on us. About halfway through our session, another group of customers arrived and waited nearly 20 minutes before he finally came out. He simply told them to wait while he prepared their rage room. After we finished axe throwing, we had to go find him so we could start the rage room. He told us to give him a minute to set it up but offered no instructions about what we should do in the meantime. We ended up reading the posted signs ourselves because no one explained the process. The rage room itself was very small and contained only a few bottles, two tires, a printer, and a speaker. Our package was advertised as lasting nearly an hour, but we were completely finished in about 25 minutes because there simply wasn't enough to break. Before leaving, we asked to use the restroom. It was just as dirty as the rest of the facility, with used paper towels all over the floor and more discarded bandages. It was obvious the place hadn't been properly cleaned before opening, or possibly for quite some time. Overall, this was one of the worst entertainment experiences we've ever had. Between the lack of cleanliness, poor customer service, minimal instruction, safety concerns, and the disappointing value for the price, we cannot recommend this place. If I could give it a -10, I would. Save your time and your money and go somewhere else.

Jason is a fantastic instructor -- patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about sharing his craft. We each got to make a vase, a whiskey glass, and an ornament, and if you worked efficiently, there was even time to make a second piece. What made the experience even more memorable was the little touches Jason added -- he brought water, oranges, and chocolates to keep everyone fueled and happy throughout the session. It's the kind of thoughtfulness that shows he genuinely cares about his students having a great time.
