Easy parking in the lot or on the street. Plus, it's right next to a soccer field, baseball field, basketball court, and the Lone Tree Rec Center. Such a convenient spot!

Not even the cold weather keeps them away. I appreciate the mulch instead of gravel: much less serious legs and hand injuries. It's conveniently located near their home and a wonderful location for parties and large gatherings. I like that the park has a trail of sorts that lead to other trails for walks and cycling. The greenery surrounding the play area, and covered picnic areas are very well kept and the trees are beautiful.

Whoa, this place rocks! They have a couple coveted pavilions if you went to sit ( I opted to have lunch here) along with a nice walking trail that will take you over to Lincoln. You can walk to Sprouts, Mad Greens and Schwab and more! Props to having street parking that makes it easy to get in and out! Only bad thing about place? You may get the Mr Belvedere theme song in your head.

My dogs are bigger and need more room to run however. Important things: There are "regulars" (humans) who tend to gather in the middle area to chat which can mean they are not watching their dogs closely. Always pick up your dogs poop! There are plenty of trash cans and poop bags throughout the park. There is a short walk from the parking lot to the park, make sure your a dog is leashed the whole time. Heritage Regional Park is extremely busy in the summer (hundreds of soccer games every weekend) parking lot may be full.

However, it is sadly extremely common for people to bring unneutered and poorly mannered male dogs, who want to hump everything in sight. Since this is my go-to spot when crunched for time, I have seen a tremendous number of nearly-horrible situations, mostly caused by owners who haven't spent the time socializing or training their dogs. There is also an issue of mud. Forget about coming here when the snow is melting or after a rain. It is MUDDY. The dog park is sloped and the entrance is at the bottom of the hill, and so a lot of the water collects there. There is also no grass or gravel. All in all, it's a decent place to go, but I prefer Glendale open space because there is more room for the dogs to spread out, it's normally much drier even after the snow melts, and has a real walking path.
