3 bland tacos , beans and rice
    George E.

Weekend in Jackson Hole, WY for an escape from the Phoenix heat. Little did I know that today in Jackson, it is blowing and snowing. I thought shoulder season meant milder temperatures, I was wrong. Half the restaurants here are on hiatus during the winter and spring. The pickens are slim and it took us three tries to find a lunch spot today. Merry Piglets Mexican Grill was not on the list but here we are, hungry. The staff was helpful and quickly seated us. The chips and salsa were tasty and quickly consumed. We placed an order of queso and more chips. The queso sauce was thin and lacked any spice. Three tacos: shrimp, el pastor and carne asada with beans and rice were also ordered. The meats and shrimp were good but scant. The tacos were not much more than meat and some onions. I was not left wanting more or satisfied with our selections. Merry Piglets Mexican Grill fills a need in the beautiful town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Of the many Mexican restaurants here, I don't feel the need to recommend or return here. I wish them well and can tell that the locals feel at home at MPMG.

Easy and quick to sit. Good chips and salsa. We shared the fajitas and they were delicious and definitely enough to share within two people. The place was bright and vibrant.

I must qualify. I was the recipe tester and researcher for Robb Walsh's The Tex-Mex Cookbook and I have traveled extensively in Mexico for 60 years, so my comments are from a different perspective than most. The guacamole was very good and I recommend it. The salsa was unmemorable, tasting more of canned diced tomatoes, and my personal preference would have been for roasted tomatoes and onions and garlic, with salt, vinegar and chiles. The tortilla soup was heavily cumin so if you don't like cumin, this is not for you. The recipe they have chosen is for more of a chicken tortilla mush. But it is not unlike others I have had. Ambiance is nice. Everyone super friendly. Great wall decor. I suspect that the recipes they have chosen are designed for clientele from all over but I would say, "Give your chefs an opportunity to offer something off menu as a special option". Some cookbooks to get ideas from are shown in photos.

The food was delicious! We also tried the Twisted Cowgirl Dip, and it was fantastic. The salsa was honestly some of the best I've had at a Mexican restaurant--fresh, flavorful, and addictive. Even though it was busy, there was no wait, and the service was quick and efficient. The atmosphere was fun, upbeat, and welcoming. We had a great experience and would definitely come back!

Was kind of busy when we got here so it took a minute for the server to come to our table. But once he did, he was super nice! So just pack some patience if they are busy. It's right on the tourist area of Jackson hole. On to the to the food - we order a taco plate that came with a selection of two of their tacos and chicken fajitas. Not pictured is the queso we had to return as it was almost a brick. No thanks. The rest of the meal was great. If back visiting, I would return.

There's nothing like a classic fajita!

Mary piglet is still one of our family favorites. It's hard to imagine a trip to Jackson without swinging by. The kids menu offer us a good variety for our little ones. The rest of us enjoy ordering off of the main menu. Warm chips and salsa are delivered within seconds of sitting down. The salsa has just the right kick and it warms us up as we wait for our meals. We tend to try a few different things and share. How can you not enjoy all the goodness and such a wonderful Festive environment.

Fun, Lively Spot for a Solid Mexican Meal Our teenage daughter was craving Mexican food before we hit the road home, so we stopped at Merry Piglets -- and it turned out to be a nice way to wrap up our time in Jackson. The environment is fun, lively, and relaxed -- great for families or a casual night out. The food was solid overall. My husband enjoyed his Taco Grande with beef -- generous and flavorful. I had the veggie bowl, which was good -- not amazing, but satisfying enough. The steak burrito was just okay. Our server, Sienna, was lovely -- warm, attentive, and made us feel welcome. Prices were reasonable, especially for Jackson. Wish I could give it 3.5 stars -- but rounding up for the great service and fun atmosphere. Overall, it's a dependable spot for casual Mexican food that's easygoing and enjoyable.

We stopped by Merry Piglets after walking around Jackson for a few hours. We got there around 4:00 so it was pretty empty. Our server was very attentive. They brought us their free chips and salsa. They also advertise that their food does not contain added seed oil. They fry their own chips each day. Sounds like they use beef tallow. Love that! You don't find many places willing to avoid using seed oils. The portion of the restaurant we sat in had a long skylight above us. Murals on the wall all have pigs in Mexican attire. It's an attractive atmosphere. We ordered the Wild Cowgirl Dip which became a family favorite. We also got the steak burrito, street tacos (kickin chicken and beef burria), and the carne asada burrito bowl. Everything was good. They also make their own sauces. Nice place for a good meal!

Honestly, was kinda disappointed in this place. My friend and his gf came here a day or two before us and said it was the best Mexican they've had. So of course, I love Mexican food so I gotta try it. I ordered the tacos with brisket in it. The brisket was very dry. It had flavor but it was so dry I needed to drink something immediately after every bite. My friend got the taquitos and I tried it. That was the worst taquitos I have ever had. No taste. Very dry. The queso...now I don't know what that was. It kinda reminds me of the stuff you buy in a jar from the store. Maybe because I'm from the south and we do it different, but this queso was not it. It's really cute inside and the drinks are amazing. The staff was okay. Not the best service, but it could have been worse.

My family loves Mexican food, and this one really stacked up! I had a fajita salad, my husband had a steak burrito, my daughter had the tacos, and my son had a birria chimichanga. First, the free chips and salsa were very good. Homemade chips with a very tasty salsa. We also had queso which again was very flavorful. The fajita salad came with lots of grilled vegetables on a nice big salad. I added fajita grilled chicken with that. It was very hearty and I could not finish at all. The kids love anything Birria and the chimichanga and tacos did not disappoint! My husband also thoroughly enjoyed his steak burrito. All the entrées except for my salad came with refried beans and Spanish rice. Our waiter was very attentive and gave good recommendations. While there are a lot of options of restaurants in Jackson, we recommend this one if you are in the mood for Mexican!

Went to this place for dinner on vacation! We got some awesome chips and salsa while we waited for our drinks and food order! The service was excellent the waitress was super friendly! The ambiance was upbeat and lively! I ordered the carne asada enchiladas which were amazing and would definitely get again! Would highly recommend and suggest this place if you're ever in town!!!

This bar is legendary and a staple in Wyoming. The Silver Dollar Bar was country prior to instagram and everyone wearing jeans and boots pretending they lived and worked on a ranch. Watching tourists here is a kick in the pants as they are glued to catching moments of "living western" on their phones. The three elk smashed sliders with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese were accompanied with PERFECT, CRUNCHY, PIPING HOT RINGS. As an aside, an additional order on rings were added because once in a while you must indulge. The sliders were fine and dense but that is elk. The rings were EPIC! This place is attached to the Virginian Lodge complex which is a pretty cool place to stay overall. There's a little gift shop, a burger joint, the saloon, a pool, hot tub, all sorts of little amenities. So this saloon is one part of this whole lodge experience. Immediately, we liked the laid back ambiance with lots of sofas and comfie chairs to hang out with a small group of people. We sat at the bar. For us, the vibe and casual, kickback ambiance was a five star for what we were looking for (which was that). We ordered two appetizers which were maybe about average: the hatch pepper queso was not as good as the Pace queso from the jar that we had just had a week prior. The chicken tenders were typical bar tenders, nothing special. Basic fries. So the food was struggling to score a three star. The thing about the service was that it could have been much better but because of the early hour we seemed to be sort of the warm up customers. One bartender was in training so while he greeted us he was promptly dismissed by the main bartender who alternated between being the best and the worst bartender you might have. When you're two of three people at the bar and there's only five people in the whole place you might expect to get more conversation from the barkeep since we were out of towners and looking forward to hearing about the local scene. Nope. I guess you could say it was mainly our high expectation of having a friendly bartender but ended up feeling sort of like a bar seat. This was at a very low ebb in the season as well as the day so I can't imagine that the experience would improve with more people. As with all things, it's all about expectation. If you don't expect a great bartender, and don't expect great food you might come away pleased with the venue. But no dark on tap so don't expect that either.

The trout with a green curry sauce was good but again, ummmm.... Trout has a subtle flavor. Green curry coconut sauce, and stuffed with another type of Asian something something....might as just as well better to use a neutral tasting fish like a better quality tilapia imho. Let trout taste like trout. Use a different, neutral tasting fish for these kinds of sauces and fillings. Well at least it wasn't covered with a garnish of micro greens lol. Just a little cilantro heh heh heh. I mean don't get me wrong. Both entrees were okay. But a waste of quality fish when a less costly fish would have been fine what with all those other flavors. And the foam and powder embellishments on the steak were barely noticeable. The whole menu reads like a community college cooking school graduate little bit of this little bit of that. When I get home I'm going to have fun writing the different components of all the menu items on index cards, shuffle, and see what combinations come up each time. And I love the idea of a General Tso steak sauce and want to try creating one. And using a packet of Ramen seasoning instead of Cajun seasoning sounds like a fun thing to try. I just won't do it on a fifty dollar piece of meat. If you are counting calories you skip the gross doughnut hole dessert. Dense ball of dough. Gummy.
