So here's the scoop...37 of us swamped the restaurant at 5:30! Why? We were all on 6 day bus (which was great! The name is disguised as "an entry point with a first number") tour starting at Mt. Rushmore with multiple stops in between ending at the Grand Tetons. This was our final ending meal together. First, I know the management prepared for us. We had to select the entrees a couple of days before. Second, we were seated next to the circular wall towards the street, very accommodating. Noise factor was good to excellent because of the high ceilings (the industrial look you know with exposed duct work now popular.) Third, finally the food what you really want to know... All of us had the house salad. It was lightly dressed which I appreciated since some restaurants over dress or use a harsh vinaigrette. I had their beef steaks which the tour written description was a fillet, restaurant menu list as a ribeye. I 'm not going to complain because it was accurately seared. I asked for mine medium and another asked for medium well. Both were slightly under which was good. Presentation was excellent they did change from sweet potatoes to a couscous ( I think) which was a good switch and tasty. My spouse had the rainbow trout and it was amazing! It a good size, as again presentation was great! Tasted good too! Not dry. Another person had the truffle pasta and there was a poached egg on top. What a surprise! They said it tasted good! If you want someone on the other menu section of yelp list just what was offered to us with a detailed description.The dessert was their donut holes (very crispy and tasty) with three dipping sauces. With so many strong restaurants in Jackson, this one didn't stand out as one we would revisit. Our server was lovely--friendly, attentive, and clearly doing their best. Unfortunately, the bar was painfully slow. Our first round of drinks took about 15 minutes, and the second took closer to 30 minutes after ordering. We eventually had to check in to make sure they were even coming. The food was fine, but not something we'd come back for. The elk pasta lacked the depth and richness you expect from a bolognese. The trout--poblano stuffed and curry-prepared--was an interesting idea, but the curry completely overpowered the fish, making the dish feel unbalanced. Gather is one of the hot-spots in Jackson Hole. WY. The chef here has worked at a Michelin star restaurant in the past. The place was hopping and a reservation was seemingly required. Tonight, they were a destination spot for two large bachelor and bachelorette parties. The menu has a good variety of meats, salads and veggies. They are served with an eye on presentation. The staff answered all questions regarding the menu and shared other favored spots in town. We started with the brussel sprouts, pepitos, dried cranberries, shaved pecorino and a balsalmic vinegarette. The flavor profile was good, nicely cooked and well seasoned. The portion was generous. I can't say the same about the beet and blue cheese salad. The arugula, candied pecans, blue cheese, pickled beets, fried beet strings and a vinegarette contained many flavors but the boldness of the blue cheese overwhelmed the small candies pecans. The salad lacked a refined uniformed flavor. There was too much acidity and arugula, I felt like a rabbit eating shoots of grass. After realizing this, we left half of it on the plate. Our entree was the buttermilk fried chicken and peppered honey served over a 3 cheese Mac N cheese and Fresno chilies. The chicken was savory and a perfect crunch. The cheese sauce needed salt and lacked and defining taste. A homemade hot sauce was included. This dish was good just not great. Overall, Gather has a nice setting with windows looking out onto the ski slopes. The service was good and they were engaging. The food was fine, just not "I need to go back feeling". They are doing a good business with a restaurant full of patrons. Perhaps you should give Gather a try and decide for yourself. read more

Simple delicious and unique choices in menu. We started w PORK BUNS; Fresh Housemade Bao Bun, Crispy Braised Pork Belly, Kimchi, Fresno Chiles. Buns came as 3 but since we were 4 on our party, we got 4 so we each had one for ourselves. We also had the CRISPY BRUSSELS; White Balsamic Vinaigrette, Pepitas, Dried Cranberries, Shaved Pecorino. This was perfectly seasoned and very delicious. One of my favorite in the menu as an appetizer. I had the BEET & BLUE SALAD; Arugula, Pickled Braised Beets, Crispy Fried Beet Strings, Blue Cheese Crumbles, Candied Pecans, Blue Cheese Vinaigrette. This is more than enough for one person. This was a very large portion and enough for 4 people to share. My wife also had the soup of the day (corn bean soup w bacon) which was very delicious. Also another one of our favorite. Main meals we shared were SSAMJANG MARINATED RIBEYE; Local Wyoming Ribeye, Beef Tallow Sweet Potato Puree, Korean Spicy Radish Salad, General Tso Steak Sauce, Ramen Spices and the CURRIED RAINBOW TROUT; Poblano and Bamboo Shoot Stuffed Grilled Trout, Green Curry Paste, Jasmine Rice, Thai Red Curry, Napa Kimchi, Smoked Marcona Almonds, Micro Cilantro. Both were very delicious and filling; enough to take home for a good breakfast meal tomorrow. Came here for my husband's birthday dinner over Memorial Day weekend while visiting Jackson Hole. Made a reservation, which I'd recommend since it filled up fast over the holiday weekend. The space is cozy and a little upscale. Our server was extremely nice and polite and gave us solid recommendations. We did the pork buns (server's suggestion) and brussels sprouts to start, both great, then shared the elk bolognese, truffle pasta, and the trout in a Thai flavor for mains. A thoroughly enjoyable evening and dinner. Possibly the best ribeye I've had in the past 10 years, but the other "foam and powder"aspects of the dish were just silly. The so called General Tso steak sauce was like a thimbleful smear and completely irrelevant. BBQ Ramen seasoning? Not even enough to get a taste profile of it. The trout with a green curry sauce was good but again, ummmm.... Trout has a subtle flavor. Green curry coconut sauce, and stuffed with another type of Asian something something....might as just as well better to use a neutral tasting fish like a better quality tilapia imho. Let trout taste like trout. Use a different, neutral tasting fish for these kinds of sauces and fillings. Well at least it wasn't covered with a garnish of micro greens lol. Just a little cilantro heh heh heh. I mean don't get me wrong. Both entrees were okay. But a waste of quality fish when a less costly fish would have been fine what with all those other flavors. And the foam and powder embellishments on the steak were barely noticeable. The whole menu reads like a community college cooking school graduate little bit of this little bit of that. When I get home I'm going to have fun writing the different components of all the menu items on index cards, shuffle, and see what combinations come up each time. And I love the idea of a General Tso steak sauce and want to try creating one. And using a packet of Ramen seasoning instead of Cajun seasoning sounds like a fun thing to try. I just won't do it on a fifty dollar piece of meat. If you are counting calories you skip the gross doughnut hole dessert. Dense ball of dough. Gummy. Like they used a cake doughnut recipe instead of a yeast doughnut or beignet recipe. But if not counting calories , go for it. It's fun to try the sauces, even if not that great a doughnut. We came because the menu looked good, but had particular interest in the dishes more unique to the area: bison and elk. Our server came to take our order, and after we both ordered the bison brisket, we were informed that this item was not available today. That is fine (I guess), but maybe something you should lead with when you introduce yourself and the menu to your customers before they go to place orders. What we ended up ordering was all good, but not what either of us really went there to order. Additionally, on the bottom of the menu there is a small note to customers that an additional 2% fee is included and split between all kitchen staff. In theory I understand this idea and also want everyone working there to receive proper pay, but it was kind of off putting to us to put that responsibility on the customer. This place's good reviews are well deserved. Highly recommended. My kids got the kids steak plate, chef sent out an initial plate because he felt he overcooked the steak. Then he sent out the actual plates. My kids were so excited and the portions were generous. Our entrees were good too, pork shank and the fish plate. I highly recommend making a reservation online, as the restaurant was quite busy even on a Monday night in June. We waited for approximately ten minutes before being seated. The atmosphere of the restaurant is dim and spacious. We were seated in one of the booths near the bar. I was excited to try the bison, as it is a signature dish in Wyoming. We started our dinner with the crispy brussels, which were excellently prepared with just the right amount of seasoning. The Brussels sprouts were fresh and flavorful. For our mains, we ordered the bison brisket, trout, fried chicken, and salad with shrimp. The bison brisket was paired with elk. Unfortunately, the bison lacked flavor and was overcooked. It tasted like a hard-boiled steak without seasoning. The elk on the side did not taste good either; it reminded me of cafeteria food from high school. The curried rainbow trout also lacked flavor. The fish texture was slightly dry but still acceptable. However, the seasoning and flavor were missing. The menu called out Green Curry Paste and Thai Red Curry, however, it is hardly to taste the favour. If you are expecting a bold curry flavor, such as Thai or Indian curry, this dish will not meet your expectations. Despite the disappointment with the bison and trout, I really enjoyed the fried chicken and seasonal peach and burrtta salad with shrimp, even though I only had a few bites. The fried chicken was juicy and hot, and the sauce could have been a little sweeter to better balance the flavors. The salad was fresh and paired perfectly with the tail-on shrimp. Our server was attentive, checked in with us several times during the meal, and notified us when the food was on the way. We went on New Year's Eve, and while the menu was understandably limited for the holiday, it honestly worked in their favor: each course was better than the last. I commute between my home in DFW and the beautiful Jackson, WY. This was the restaurant my now employer took me to for dinner. They knew exactly what they were doing. If I wasn't sold enough on the job this was the nudge over to yes. The folks here were as nice as the rest of the folks in Jackson. The restaurant is well decorated and makes you feel right at home. I am not always a fish guy unless it is fresh. I took a gamble today. They had a trout dish with some curry. Now, I can take curry or leave it. I am glad I didn't leave it this time. The trout was beautifully prepared and tasted like it jumped from the stream right onto my plate. Love this place and it is the very first place I dined with my family when they came up. My husband and I were at Jackson Hole for the first time, and I wanted to make sure that we hit up the best foodie spots. While doing my research on YouTube, Gather popped up on a few videos. Bonus points for the restaurant being a 3-minute walk from hotel. I made a reservation for 5pm on a Saturday. This was the restaurant's opening time, so it wasn't super busy. We sat at a table by the bar and had a fantastic server. He was friendly, attentive, and a great conversationalist. We ordered a couple of cocktails. I got the Sno-groni, and my husband got the Blood Orange Smash. Both were well crafted, but I loved the Blood Orange Smash more. In general, I enjoyed the food we ate. We got the Elk Chorizo Hash with the fried duck egg to share. It's actually one of the sides, but we got it as a starter. I've never had elk before, so it was a unique way to try the meat. My husband got the pork "ribeye." I don't eat pork, but he thought his dish was wonderfully different from any pork chop he's ever had. He's never had anything like it - in a good way. I did try his couscous side though, which I though was good. I'm not the biggest fan of couscous, but they cooked it al dente with a creamy sauce so it had some bite to it. This was a terribly disappointing experience. We went here for my husband's birthday and the service and the food were both mediocre at best. And we spent a lot for that mediocrity! We ordered a burger, a peach burrata salad, bison brisket, and elk bolognese. The only dish that was even remotely worth it was the bolognese! The salads were tiny and tasteless. The rest of the food was forgettable. Here's the weirdest part: when we made a reservation, we told them it was my husband's birthday. When we arrived our server told us they had a special treat in store! They then changed us for a dessert we didn't order! The brisket itself was dry and lacked any flavor. The elk hash that it came on top of was delicious - I wish I had ordered that off the sides menu and ordered another entrée instead. The curried trout was one of the most creative preparations of trout I have seen. It comes stuffed with greens and served over a bed of rice and curry sauce. The flavors of the fish and the curry were unique and very tasty. Drinks: We ordered several cocktails, including the blood orange smash and the apple cider margarita. The blood orange tended to mask the whiskey, but was still flavorful. The apple cider margarita tasted like a nice fall drink - would have been interesting to try this in a warm cocktail. There were several other interesting options as well. Service: Our server was very attentive, friendly, and helpful. Everything out very quickly, and we had multiple people come and check in on us throughout our meal. We were often given the option to modify our dishes (such as adding extra bao buns or changing the flavor of cocktails) that made it feel like they really cared about our experience. Value: Purely on price, most things here are quite expensive. The bison brisket was $40, the trout was $38, and the bao buns were $17. Cocktails were $15-16 each. They did use some premium ingredients and the portions were large, but not the most bang for your buck. Atmosphere: The restaurant is warm and inviting, which was especially nice given the frigid temperatures outside. There's plenty of space to feel like you're not right up against any other tables. Walking in, I think a manager was at the host stand and he seated us right away (we had a reservation), while making sure to greet us with a kind "Happy Anniversary!" We were seated at a two top between two large banquettes that seemed like they could fit 6 people. I loved the cozy nature of it and my husband and I spoke about how smart the use of space was. The decoration on the wall was more art that you could purchase, which I think is really fun and gives a community vibe. Our server was lovely, making sure to check on us regularly. She also gave us good recommendations. The food here is outstanding. Like stellar! We got the wagyu tartare (which I agree with others, needed more bread to start, 3 pieces is not enough but a lot of places do this) and it was excellent. That beet mustard? Get out of here!!! The brussels sprouts were so freaking good and the portion was very large. That could have fed 6 people. LOL! We also shared the house salad and the bison brisket. Both very good. Made reservations on a Friday night at 6:30. We were seated right away and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Ordered the Beet and Blue salad that was big enough for 2 people. It was very salt forward and sounded better than it was. For an entree, I ordered the Truffle Pasta which was made with fresh pasta. The pasta was perfectly al dente but the sauce wasn't anything special.
