It wasn't super busy and we were able to be seated right away. Our server was great. She kept checking in on us to make sure everything was okay. We each got a root beer, which was amazing. My oldest went with the fish and chips, my youngest went with the nachos and I went with the bison steak. The girls liked their meals, but I absolutely LOVED my meal. I ate the whole thing! Back in Jackson, WY and no longer have young children. Years ago, we waited in line here only to be told an hour later that children were not allowed in a bar. New Day - New Page. This bar is legendary and a staple in Wyoming. The Silver Dollar Bar was country prior to instagram and everyone wearing jeans and boots pretending they lived and worked on a ranch. The decor is nice working ranchers. Boots are working clothes, not a fashion statement. We sat at a window table to enjoy the sun on a blustery, snow showery and passing sun day. Watching tourists here is a kick in the pants as they are glued to catching moments of "living western" on their phones. The three elk smashed sliders with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese were accompanied with PERFECT, CRUNCHY, PIPING HOT RINGS. As an aside, an additional order on rings were added because once in a while you must indulge. The sliders were fine and dense but that is elk. The rings were EPIC! Today was about simple food amongst the locals. We were able to ignore the 8 bachelorettes from back east documenting every drink at the bar. I have to start off by saying atmosphere and food were great! First night in town looking for something fun and easy, before we head to Yellowstone tomorrow am. This place looked cute. Was very busy but they sat us quickly! We received our waters immediately, then it went south. We sat there a good 15 plus minutes with no one coming by. Finally a woman who seemed like a hostess asked if anyone had seen us yet and we said no. She asked us for our drink order and we had not received one so she brought one over. She took our order and came back with the drinks quickly and took our order. We didn't wait too long and got our dinner from another waiter. No one came to check on us over dinner. We had to flag another waiter down for refills. Then we had to flag a gentleman down to ask for dessert menus and again when it was time for the check. It felt like there was no one specifically for our table. We were in the back corner and felt like no one cared to stop over and take our table. That being said when we were helped the staff members were kind. Of the whole meal the desserts were exceptional! Banana Croissant Pudding and Peach and Huckleberry Cobbler! Our party had French onion soup, very good, a burger with steak fries, a club sandwich and a very fresh berry salad with goat cheese! Berries were perfect! So food wise and atmosphere are worth going there! I'll chalk the rest up to an off night. It would have been a solid 4 without this issue. There are so many restaurant in downtown Jackson Hole to explore but I wouldn't write this one off just yet. read more

Drove into town around 9pm on a Thursday night and thought we could find someplace to eat. Struck out at three different places but a quick Yelp search fixed that. Not a lot of options and we chose the busiest place. If you like live music, this IS the place. Great cover band that was awesome. Busy with lots of people at the bars and dance floor. We were here for food and asked the waitress what the favorites were. She said the burger, so, the burger it was. The back bar has tables for dining and a separate bar with lots of TV's with sports on. Decent cocktails but nothing fancy or special. Good wine list and you can buy a bottle and take it out. Burger was ok but I chose Gouda cheese which made a difference. I'm normally not a "bun" guy (cough, cough) but the bun was absolutely delish. I don't know where they get them but it was one of the best. Onion rings and sweet potatoe fries were standard. Waitress was all business but good. She had a lot to cover. read more

The other option of seating were table but it's always more fun seating at the bar and meeting new people. The bartender was very friendly and delivered our drinks with a smile. I ordered a mule and my husband a draft beer. Both were very tasty. The bar top is decorated in sliver dollars thus the name of the bar. A few televisions were playing baseball and soccer games. We decided to order chips and dip. The guac was perfectly made, and the salsa was delicious. The dish was filled with chips so many that we were unable to finish them. Oh my god. Their bison chili with smoked garlic. YUM! The depth of different flavors and the way they combine is simply mouthwatering. The cheese on top helps tone it down but it is also a fantastic addition. We only stopped by for the small soup because it was one of the winners in the chili contest in the past few years and we wanted to give it a try. I'm glad we did. We got a small cup to go, went to the park and relished (read: inhaled) this wonderfully made soup. Would 10/10 recommend the bison chili and I wouldn't say no to the recipe! The signature silver dollars make this bar special. My husband was particularly impressed with the NY Mets game playing on all the televisions. We're eating our way through Jackson Hole. We shared Wildgame meatballs here made with ground bison and elk with balsamic barbecue sauce and white cheddar, delicious! We washed them down with Wind River Blonde local craft beer. This was an ABSOLUTE surprise of the trip for us. We did not know this place existed and the goal was to get bison steaks while we're in Wyoming. The bison steak was about $59 and it was ABSOLUTELY delicious. The elk sliders , the bun was a bit crispy and the elk was tender and juicy. Mac and cheese was delighful. The cheeseboard was way more than we expected. We loved all the cheese there. The whole meal was just delighful and cost each of us about $94 each but it was well worth it. Service was great, we walked around for around 15 mins to find a restaurants but all the ones that are around were booked up and we were so glad to have found this little gem. Server sat us at the table quickly and food was brought out in 10 mins. The bathrooms are super clean. Casual spot downtown Jackson - the food is reasonably priced (compared to most of the city) and the bar service was great. I thought there was live music but the band was only on for about 5 min while I was there. The bar tender was attentive and friendly and the drink pours were great. I got the Buffalo burger and was disappointed- what was supposed to be medium cook was more like well done and it tasted greasy/had a strong aftertaste of being overly cooked. But rather I hope the owner can improve training the staff for a better customer experience because what happened to us was so unprofessional on so many levels when we were nothing but respectful the whole time. My friends and I came here looking for food because we had just flown in and not many places were open late. When we arrived, they needed to check ID even though we weren't planning on drinking, we just wanted food. One of my friends forgot her ID back at our lodging but luckily it was nearby. So we went to grab it and came back. The guy at the front said last call for food was right now so we would have to order now which we were fine with but apparently we couldn't place a food orders through him. He said we needed to find a table and have a waitress come to us. Already it was weird that we had to find a table and even when we did, it wasn't enough chairs so we had to find the chairs. It would've been nice if he had at least helped us. We sat for about 10minutes just waiting for a waitress. We had flagged down a few but each time, they said they would come back. Finally a waitress came to us but told us the kitchen is closed and we couldn't get food. Which was so annoying because it wasn't our fault they took forever to come get our order. We would've preferred that they told us originally kitchen was closed but instead we went through this whole ordeal of thinking we would get food only not to get food. As we were leaving the waitress was yelling at the guy in the front about how he shouldn't have said we could get food. Overall a very unpleasant experience. read more

I had a grilled chicken sandwich, with the pesto mayo on the side - I didn't end up liking that (I'm just not a fan of pesto) so I got a side of bbq sauce- which was awful. The service was a bit slow- there only seemed to be one server on our side of the restaurant. My son asked for a side of ranch when his meal came out and didn't end up getting it until he was finished eating. The decor was really fun to look at, and there were silver dollars in the tables which was cool.
