This is a Goodwill outlet (or sometimes called Bins), but basically a further discounted Goodwill. I posted the price chart (see photo). Plenty of parking. This place was huge with many bins filled with all kinds of things. You need some time to go through everything. I'm not experienced but there are professional searchers there so I just stand next to them and watch them go through it and if there is something that I like then I will take it if they don't. Have you ever dropped a broken Cheeto at a picnic and reached to pick it up, and then realized that's unnecessary, because the bugs will take care of it by nightfall? I think that's why the Goodwill Outlet exists. Staff don't label or stage or toss broken stuff. They leave it for this crowd. I saw broken items and intact items. I saw dirty items. I needed a shower by 5 minutes in and I stayed a good 30. I almost bought a few wooden hangers for a friend, but it turned out she didn't need them, so I left them behind. Someone else's treasure. I didn't visit the clothing area because I doubt I'd wear anything that came from this Goodwill Outlet, though I'm sure there are some gems. Goodwill Outlet is a scrapper's paradise. Not just a reseller's... I mean a metal scrapper's. Someone filled a cart with all kinds of metal goods. I didn't check prices, but the last time I checked, most things were by the pound. Tip 1: Get there early or you'll be waiting around for parking. Tip 2: "Early" may also apply to the afternoon, as the hours online suggest they close for 2 hours for lunch. read more

This was my most bizarre, interesting Goodwill experience. I had no idea what an "outlet" situation meant so walking in was a bit overwhelming. Blue bins everywhere, full of clothing and other items. People everywhere, rummaging through the bins and tossing things into baskets and carts. It's dirty chaos and if you're not willing to put your hands in piles of the unknown to find something you like, it's best to turn around. My crew hung in for awhile and we each pulled out at least one thing, primarily a random hoodie or sweatshirt. (I'm convinced we'd have found these in a "vintage" shop in Louisville for about $40/each) we paid only $12 for 6-7 items and have the best memory! The calculate the cost based on weight. So you can get a pretty good deal. Finding what you want might be tough as there is very little organization. Currently they have two open periods each day. So you can come back and have an entirely new selection to rifle through. Shoppers start lining up for the new session at least an hour before they open back up. Everyone is looking for those deals. We go here knowing we will be digging for our goodies but I have to say be prepared to deal with rude people. Often people, other shoppers, are shoving past you to get to the next bin. As far as selection, you can find almost anything at a good Will outlet if you are patient enough. We even found an American Girl doll last time and only paid around $1.20 for her! read more

Before visiting know what you're headed into. This isn't a typical thrift store. It's more like dumpster diving for merchandise that if you don't buy goes into a dumpster this evening. This is where unsold product from local Goodwills comes for one last selling chance. Product is piled on tables with no organization. Media of all sort are usually segregated, as is clothing. Beyond that, you're pawing through random items elbow to elbow with other shoppers. The folks churning through the piles are usually looking for things they can sell online, in flea markets or garage sales, or in their own thrift stores. Merchandise is sold by the pound and books are sold by the inch. You can find bargains here if you're willing to wade in with other frantic shoppers, and risk a cut for inattentiveness to broken glass or other sharp objects. read more

Great value while digging through bins for a treasure. What's not to love if your doing your favorite thing

So you have to come into this expecting it for what it is. It is basically donations to Goodwill without being sorted or looked through. That's why it's so cheap. Everything is priced per how much it weighs. Bring gloves because nothing is cleaned. It's definitely chaotic but it's a fun rainy day activity - basically treasure hunting. I have gone and left with nothing but I've also gone and left with a brand new cat tree, crystal dish, and wall art for like 8 bucks. The people watching is great, too. Some people are just browsing, some are antiquing, some are looking for very specific things. It's intriguing. It gets crowded on weekends. I do wish staff would enforce social distancing more. But it's a fun experience and you might walk away with some cool stuff. read more

This is definitely a rummage type place. Lots of damaged clothing and items. When you're in the stores normally things are weeded through for damage by these do not seem to be. We found a few clothing items, a tablecloth and that was about it. Spent $11. If you need a lot of clothes with a small budget I think it would be good. This was my first time shopping at one of their 'outlet' stores. As the attractive name suggests, it is supposed to be a much bigger version of your average Goodwill store (or at least that's what I think....). Anyone who has driven 55 mph on Hwy 40 East has seen the place and how large it is. The store is probably one-third of it. It goes without saying, my hopes were up. I did read some of the reviews before coming there. No, I don't expect a friendly staff if they've been inside a musty, dusty room for so long. Call me naive, but I didn't expect everything to be that disorganized, with the exception of clothes and big furniture. Everything else, like electronics, toys, books and house wares are all randomly thrown together in large cart-like bins. This is not good if you're looking for a particular item, like cassettes or any kind of collectible. I'd say plan on 20-30 minutes just browsing through the whole place, just walking and looking. They do have public restrooms. This is just very different from other Goodwill stores, where things are mostly organized. I don't think I'll ever be back. But at least I can say I've finally been there. read more

The hours listed are wrong at this time. I love the store and have found wonderful things here. Really expensive things for just a dollar. I like that they stopped pulling out tables constantly as the people went nuts and threw stuff around. When the doors are open, what you see is what you get. I find the people shopping are much more nicer than it was before. There is plenty for everyone. It's strange how people act: I love quilts and a man had two beautiful quilts in his basket. I asked if I could just look at them and he said OK. I walk around for ten minutes and see a woman with the quilts in her basket, said she found them in the racks. Why didn't that man give them to me? Other times, people have said I could have them. Human nature is interesting. People have always been very friendly and polite, I love shopping here. I had heard about the Goodwill Outlet and today was the day that I was going to venture in. It was very overwhelming at first. NOT a friendly person in the place. Huge blue bins lined the store and new ones were rolled out every few minutes. People stand and literally dig through the bins, clothes, curtains and books fly everywhere. You pay by the pound for your purchases. Furniture is priced. People just kept going around and around the store. It felt like a merry go round. I love the bins and the fact that items are being upcycled to conserve waste. But the system is poor. Since the bins are only refreshed twice daily, it makes it necessary to get there early to get the fresh inventory. However, when some customers feel privileged and don't arrive until 5 minutes prior to opening and hop right to the front of the line, it's a little aggravating to say the least. I had the worst customer service and experience than I've ever had today at this location. Not only was a lady yelling literally at people every 5 seconds to get in line in an aggressive manner, the lady (KYM who started checking me out) was so rude to me I almost walked out (if it wasn't for my cool finds i would have.) Here's what happened in detail... my cart weighed a little more than I thought it would so I asked her if I could put a couple items back. She said to step out of line and let her check people out while I do it which I gladly did. I didn't hold up the line. After 4 or 5 people checked out I went back up there and said "I hope this will fit my budget" as she went to weigh it and she yelled "we are not going to keep doing this" aggressively and it embarrassed me. Not only is she supposed to be helping the customers, since she has a customer service job. She sure as heck didn't need to embarrass me just because I'm not rich, and you don't know how much its going to weigh till ya do it so.... I was over budget. I'm a server and live off tips, I was even wearing my serving uniform. Then I told her, "you don't have to be so rude" she proceeded yelling and refused me service. I had to wait another 20 minutes to finally be checked out by a kind man. She shouldn't be working here. I guess its hard to find employees these day's but I hope she changes her ways so the experience next time will be more enjoyable. read more

I know this place is grubby and that the workers aren't the best at customer service, but the woman who FINALLY signed her name on my tax receipt was a new low. I absolutely love this place, but it's definite not for everyone. Do you like everything clean and organized?! Do you like it quite and not have a bunch of people around you? Are you expecting everything to be new and perfect? Then do not go! But if you want a crafters dream treasure hunt then this is for you. Me and my partner has so much fun there. We both walked out with two shopping carts filled to the brim for under $30 each. You have to be willing to take the time to find the things. This store is one of the reasons I come to St. Louis. Don't even hate. I flipping it. Everything that has been written about it is true. It is dirty. (YES bring gloves.) It is disorganized. Everyone is crazy af. I do not care. I can and HAVE spent hours here. Until this year, none of my friends and family would even set foot in the store. It's in a kind of bad neighborhood. No one thinks snapping on latex gloves and sifting through piles of crap sounds like fun...until they notice I emerge year after year with awesome shit. To me, it is completely worth it to spend 1-3 hours in the store, find great things, run them through scalding hot soapy water a few times, and then brag about these great finds where you spent $17 on a cart load of fantastic crap. read more

This place is absolutely insane, and I love it. Apparently after an item makes it around all the local Goodwill stores, it finally finds its way to the Goodwill outlet. Newcomers beware, there is absolutely no order to this store. If you're one of those people who can't stand walking into a Marshall's or TJ Maxx, you will absolutely HATE this place. If you're looking for an adventure however, you might just love it. There are blue bins as far as the eye can see, and in it you might find anything. Clothes? Electronics? A cowboy hat? A stuffed sheep? And they price at 79cents a pound. That's insane! I left with my arms full of stuff, and it cost be $1.93! Also, I feel it important to point out that it looks like they accept cash, Mastercard, and Discover. Keep your Visa at home I suppose? Also, yes I saw people with gloves, but I didn't really feel like it was that bad. I mean, yes I accidentally picked up a thong once...but it's really not THAT dirty. Oh. dear. gawd. Yesterday I experienced the Goodwill Outlet for the first, and possibly last, time. I had heard stories. I knew about the bins, that people wear gloves, and the general hysteria over new shit being rolled out. But nothing can truly prepare you for what you're walking into, it's like an alternate universe in there. It's big, grey, kind of cold and generally disgusting. This is the crap they couldn't sell in the regular Goodwill people, it's not pretty! It's just aisle after aisle of random ass crap. That you have to dig through. Ew. Most of it literally was trash. We found an empty Starbucks cup for god's sake. And there were knives in those bins! What the hell! The only part that was not utterly terrifying was the bins of books along the back wall. There were some gems in there, I'm not gonna lie, but really the amount of time and energy you have to waste to fine the good stuff hardly seems worth it to me. Yes, I only spent $1.89 on a bag full of books and a kids Cardinals shirt that I'm going to put on my dog, but we were in there for at least an hour, and it made me feel sick. It's like heaven for hoarders, but personally I don't need anything bad enough to subject myself to that mayhem more than once. read more

WOW! Does anyone have the ability to actually describe this place? It's like no place i've ever been!! I went on a Monday morning & the place was PACKED!! Probably 100 ppl there total going through the bins. I had read reviews here & was alittle scared but NO NEED TO BE!! It is not scarey! IN FACT (maybe my experience was unusual?) I was really pleasantly surprised at how nice other shoppers were. I mean you arn't gonna meet your BFF there, but certainly not different then any other store. About 10 new bins came out when I was there & other shoppers were not pushy or rude with me or others that I saw. They were enthustic (that's a good word ;o) but not in a overly aggressive way. I walked out with about $7 worth of stuff & my cart was half full. I think at any given time if you were a regular shopper that you could find ANYTHING you would ever need (not sure you would actually want it, but if you are on a budget you could do well here). TRUST ME there was a lot of junk & trash (why do people donate trash to Goodwill? Just throw it away) but with alittle searching with gloves on (YOU HAVE TO HAVE GLOVES) you can find some really good stuff. 79 cents a lb for STUFF & .39 cents a lb for glass. I found 2 aeropostale mens shirts/sweatshirts in really good condition/a precious moments figure in the box UNBROKEN (shocking)/3 iron candle holders that at TJ Maxx would have cost me at least $30 (they are heavy black iron & really nice)/a few small misc things & everything all together was $7!! No worries...overall good experience...i've had worse shopping experiences at Macy's for the love of God!! So don't dis the Goodwill Outlet. If it isn't your thing, you know that before you go & just don't go. But if you like going to other thrift stores, you will like this place alot! read more

This place is what it is. Heaven. If you don't like dingy thrifting then stay away. If you don't have a few hours to kill then stay away. If you don't like wearing gloves to sift through bin after bin after bin of beautiful junk then stay away. In all honesty, this place is packed enough as it is. So I am actually grateful for all of the 1 star people because they probably won't be going back. I try to go here on a weekly basis. If I could quit my job and go here daily then that would be ideal. The most I have ever spent is about $40. Usually my cart rolls in in about the $10-$20 range. Every time my cart is full! The times that my total is more expensive is usually because I have a huge stack of records in my cart and those suckers are heavy! I really have mixed feelings about this place. Once in awhile you can find something really cool and pay less than nothing for it, that is awesome. I will tell you there are crazy people here as well. They wait for new bins to come out, they push, bite, and claw to get to it before anyone else. Sometimes the employees are jerks, once I got pushed into a chick that worked there, and she shoved me hard, I understand why she has to be that way, but shes lucky I didn't shove her back, but I dont want to get banned. Once, my hubby was by the area where this bin of electronics was wheeled out, and he put his hands on something like a dvd player or something like that, and this one guy dove on it and bear hugged it and wouldn't let go unless my husband agreed to just let him have that, I really am not kidding, it was the funniest (or saddest) thing ever. I go here with one of my girlfriends and there are people who stalk out the shoes, and when they are wheeled out, they basically take every matching pair they can, there are about 6 of them and they work together, my friend got all ballsy (she loves shoes) and once asked one of them what the hell were they doing, and they pretended not to speak English, so I have no idea what that is all about, but it happens every weekday. I'll start by saying that this place is an absolute nightmare. It is so unorganized, dirty, full of (sometimes really rude) people, and occasionally dangerous (broken glass in the bins, etc). Bring gloves (I like wearing work/gardening gloves) and bag(s) to carry your loot because they don't have any. BUT the staff is so friendly and helpful, everything is dirt cheap (.79/lb, .15/in books), you're bound to find something wonderful! Here are some of my best finds: - Two really cute, blue, patterned, bulletin boards - A heavy duty hot glue gun - Frames for crafts/decorating - A blank white canvas - A dry erase board - A drawer organizer Also, I'm a preschool teacher and this is, hands down, the GREATEST place to buy children's books. I work with 2-3 year olds, so it's about quantity, not necessarily quality. The kids just want fun, bright, pictures to look at and then they'll probably end up ripped/colored on after a few months. I bought about 35 children's books for a DOLLAR. Books are .15/inch. So again, if you're not up for the chaos, don't go. I get it. I was so stressed out my first time but it really can be an amazing place to find great items! You just have to be able to look past the mess, the dirt (it can be washed!) and the chaos! What the f*ck is this sh*t that I have just found?! This is not your normal Goodwill, apparently. Devin and I walked in here on a hunt for stuff for our Halloween costumes and stuff for the Elite event tomorrow, and I have to say, it was quite a novel experience. The biggest difference here is that the workers can't be bothered to hang shit up on hangers. It's all in bins, organized only by "clothes" and "other shit," but kudos to whoever came up with THAT business model. This place was pretty dang busy, full of eager treasure hunters. But this place skeezed me the hell out. Devin was on a mission, and I felt like I had to be the good girlfriend and sacrifice a little, so I dug into try to help. The first clothes I dug into were fucking DAMP. I was so freaked out, and immediately ran off to go to wash my hands, much to my bewildered boyfriend's amusement. His reaction to digging through that nasty shit? "Oh, yeah. It is damp. "*dig dig dig some more* I saw several people wearing latex gloves which was the smartest thing I'd seen all day. These were veterans, y'all. Then, suddenly, there was chaos. A woman shoved passed me and literally ran to the back of the store. I followed her trail to a large group of people circled around something and looking down, and immediately thought someone had had a cardiac arrest or a grand mal seizure and wondered if I needed to go over there. Then Devin nodded and said sagely, "New shipment." Has he been here before and he's not telling me? Oh, and then a chubby teenager squeezed into a black pleather nurse Halloween costume (complete with little red hat and stethoscope), and started shaking his ass and feeling himself up and everyone laughed and clapped. IN WHAT STRANGE PARARLLEL UNIVERSE HAVE I FOUND MYSELF? Back to bin digging. I started to tell Devin about MRSA until he cut me off, explaining that "ignorance is bliss." I told him I'd rather have a patient vomit or piss on me than dig through these bins, because at least I knew where that was coming from. I think the favorite thing I found in the bins was a can of soup. We found what we needed and then some (apparently D found it vital to purchase a plastic Samurai sword so he can forge Randy Jackson's signature on it. "It's the only thing I had on me! And you're not just NOT going to get Randy Jackson's autograph!"). Of note: they charge things by weight, not by item, which ends up actually being cheaper than other Goodwills, which is cool. This place is the king of thrift shops! After having passed it many times in the recent months while driving on I-40, we finally made a stop here. It is essentially a huge warehouse full of blue bins that are semi-organized. When you go, get ready to dig and not have a very specific goal in mind. The price is very reasonable (79 cents per lb. Need I say more?). I found a ton of interesting stuff, from retro purses to Michael Jackson-esque 80s embroidered jackets, to unique ceramics, all for less than $2. They were all in good shapes (i.e. not broken/torn/chipped/dirty, although there was a ton that wasn't in as good shapes) Despite the fun digging, this place made me sad. I saw a photo album still full of pictures from what looks to be the 1950s and 1960s. It made me wonder what happened to the people in the family. There were also so many perfectly good stuffed animals that are going to become destroyed during recycling. read more

The experienced bin divers at this Goodwill Outlet bring gloves for the grime; the smart bring surgical cold-masks for the airborne particles. I'll admit that I originally was unaware that this was an outlet for Goodwill - the bottom pickings from the bottom pickings. I checked it out for household odds-and-ends when I first moved to Saint Louis, and for a few weeks believed this was how all mid-west thrift stores were: just bins of literal junk for you to sort through at your own peril. Even after I was set straight, it still wasn't impressive. You may possibly find what you want at "pay by the pound" pricing, but at what cost? A store that's so out of the way google maps will assume you want to cut through a freight shipping yard to get to, no organization for the already slim pickings, and non-sarcastic concerns for your health if you didn't come prepared. If you're a fan of dumpster diving, and wish it was contained in a warehouse - this is for you. In my opinion, however, even thrift stores should have a minimum standard above this. read more

I'm a fan of this place but ONLY because I'm a huge cheapskate. The atmosphere is horrible, the staff is rude 99.9% of the time, and nothing is organized at all. HOWEVER, I've found lots of awesome books for only $0.39 a pound, which has helped me feed my book/reading addiction (as well as my kid's) without going broke. I've also found some shoes that were new, a few purses that were in good shape, and even a few toys that were nice. Oh, and records! Vinyl records, LPs, 45s, 8 tracks... you can find LOTS of them if you go on the right day! I would say 75% of what is out that you're sorting through is pure junk, but the other 25% is great if you can find it. People are rude, they push you when new bins come out, and the parking lot is ALWAYS packed and near impossible to get into, but even after all that mess I still go back at LEAST once a week. :) When you visit, make sure you bring some gloves to sift through the huge piles of junk. I am truly surprised I am even giving this place 2 stars, it was one of the most nastiest places i have been. I really don't understand the raving I hear about it, its just rows and rows of huge dump bins that you go through to find your stuff. I stopped when I saw the majority of people that were "digging' through the bins had gloves on... I have no problems with thrift stores, and I I have been shopping the Goodwill store over on Forest Park Parkway for many years.
