The place you *have* to go to if you visit this mall is Let's Play VR. They're all about "virtual reality" - and it's a mind-bending experience. All around you - left, right, top, bottom, in front of you, and behind you is an alternative universe - an immersive experience for sure. They have tons of titles you can choose from, including all kinds of sports, shoot 'em up games, of course there's zombies, and nature stuff, too. My favorite game is the boxing game, Thrill of the Fight, which is super realistic - and there's a training gym before you pick your opponent. The training gym has all the equipment you could want - a dummy with weak points indicated, a big, heavy bag, and a bag for agility that's hanging on the ceiling. I can't yet beat the Mexican boxer, though, so that's a goal of mine. Need to work on my combinations haha. read more

Aloha folks! I haven't been to this mall since they've changed the name to Mershops previously known as North County Fair. I'm happy to see a good number of people still frequenting this location. I used to enjoy coming to this mall to exercise, visit the food court for lunch and window shop. Now that I live a little closer, I may start doing that again This is an indoor mall so on warm days this will be the ideal spot for shopping and getting my steps in. read more

I've only ever been to the food court of this mall until today. I needed to make a quick stop and had to find the store I was looking for. While I was walking through the mall, I noticed a lot of the stores look relatively new and nice. It was pretty empty though. It looks like some improvements have been made recently and there's still construction going on in one of the areas. While walking to the store that I needed I walked past See's candy. I'm always happy to see see's candy. I saw H&M, Apple, Lucky, Loft, macys, old navy and a lot of other stores I didn't know were here. I was in a rush so I only went where I needed but next time I'm in the area, I will definitely check it out further. read more

This local mall is more impressive once you walk inside because from the outside, it looks like a blank building other than the gym and dining court side. You can park in any of the lots around the mall since they surround the place. I like that there seems to be effort and improvements to keep this spot afloat, like a Round 1 being in the works here!!! The mall is 3 stories tall and also indoors. I feel like in these areas, there's mainly outdoor shopping centers so an indoor one feels great when the weather strays away from sunny and calm. The Escondido public library has a spot at one of the bottom floors so I'm sure it helps keep the local community. read more

So nostalgic here but to actually look at the stores now a days it's so sad. This place is more packed on the weekends than weekdays it's like a ghost town. Many good stores closed down but at least you still have macys, target, JCP, b&bw and Windsor. also to mention the food court. Excited to see they are opening up a Japanese food thing in the old Nordstrom area coming soon. I went back to the Mershops on Christmas and it wasn't that busy. I got another ice cream at Linny's Sweets, but it was disappointing because it didn't really look like a shark. It tasted alright. Also went to Box Lunch for some last minute Christmas shopping. I got a Sailor Moon blind box for my sister's cat Boba. She got Sailor Venus. I got a WB blind box for myself and got what I wanted! So many new stores and eateries, including Miniso and Potato World. There's even a Fencing Academy. The staff are friendly, the selection of products is great, and prices are reasonable for the area. I also love that there's a Target. read more

This was my 2nd home growing up. This was the first time I had been back since COVID hit. It is a sad shell of what it used to be. Many businesses are left empty. Many storefronts are advertising junk and tacky things. There is a Target here which I don't think belongs. On the positive, they have a great little coffee place for an afternoon pick me up. There is still lots to see. We were still able to walk through and find Many store favorites to walk through and plenty to buy. Prices are more than usual, but if you search you can still find a deal. All of the workers are helpful and not too pushy. The local indoor mall of Escondido. I've lived here for years and have seen such a change in the mall over the last few decades, to the point I thought we were going to see the mall vacant from the shift in online shopping vs in store shopping. I'm glad to see everything start to pop back up store wise, and many vendors coming back in. I hope once round one comes to the mall it'll continue to draw a crowd and liven up the mall. read more

The mall is completely in accessible. So difficult to get around for anyone with mobility needs or strollers. The main elevator has been out of service for over a year. Unacceptable. read more

I've been coming to this mall for many years. I come here when I'm looking for clothes, food, dessert, presents, or just to walk around the mall. This mall has always been well-kept. This shopping mall could do a better job of maintaining the property. There is a fence that's falling down behind the parking lot where Sears used to be. That is an extreme eyesore. I have contacted Management two or three times to know avail. I would like them to keep our neighborhood looking nice and to repair the broken fence that has been broken for about a year now. read more

I like this mall and here are the reasons why. 1. I love Red Robin's bottomless fries. 2. They now have two air soft shooting ranges. 3. The Lids hat store because I get a discount. 4. Security is always around doing their job. 5. Cinabon is still here at this mall. 6. Parking isn't an issue. 7. Oscar's Peach cobbler is the best I've ever had. It's located on the 2nd floor between Target and Victoria Secret. A must try when you're at this mall. Overall, this isn't the best mall, but it'll do because there's nothing else around. read more

North County Mall is located in Escondido with easy access to the 15 freeway. This mall has been here for a good while, and it's a very happening place. Good stores and a variety of restaurants in and around it make for a pleasant shopping experience. The selection of various tenants makes this a great place for all ages. The holidays are coming up, so you'll want to be extra cautious driving into and around the mall. Shoppers will be hustling and bustling, so just be extra cautious. Some of the parking stalls are pretty narrow, so don't bring your pretty car here if you're avoiding dings and scratches! Over the years, I've lost the urge to shop at malls, but I will stop in here once in a while. The VS/PINK stores are usually the ones I hit up almost every visit. The Lululemon store is pretty new, but it's small. Santa pics are in full swing now that Christmas is coming up. The littles will get a kick out of the huge tree! They have events that are held in center court by the elevator throughout the year. Stop in and enjoy some shopping and good eats if you're in the north county SD area! read more

This mall was way better when it was under Westfield. Now, there are more closed businesses or businesses that flat out sell junk. Other than that, it's an okay mall. It has some good stores but has gotten rid of some really amazing ones overtime, such Hallmark and Abercrombie. It keeps going downhill and if they don't step it up this mall could go dead. read more

Twenty years ago, when we shopped here frequently, I would have given North County Mall four or five stars. Today it's a shadow of its former self. There are still three anchor stores -- Macy*s, J.C. Penny, and Target. Gone are Nordstrom, Robinson and Sears ... and customers. Also gone are restaurants we used to enjoy here. When I stopped here recently, the three-story central atrium had few shoppers. In late 2023, Costco pulled out of a deal to take over the lease at the old Sears building at the Mall. This would have given North County Mall the shot in the arm it needs. Right now, it lacks the businesses that would attract me. read more

Again, i love the mall and love that although things have changed, they are putting in a lot of work to get new stores and keep it running. I love the new places, and i appreciate that they added more seating options throughout the whole mall, so you can sit anywhere! Feb, 23rd 2023 New owners said they have plans to revitalize the mall. Here we are over 2 years later and yet the mall has gotten worse. Parking lot's are not well managed. Security department is a clown show. Many storefronts still vacant. Target stores do not belong in malls. read more

Still remains one of the best shopping mall in North County itself and San Diego in general only behind UTC mall, but this mall has everything, not as high end as UTC, but has the varieties and spaces of options for everyone to choose from, restaurants, specialty stores, etc It used to be busier before Covid, but it started to pickup again, lots of foot traffic, parking lots always full, 3 levels of shopping plus more stuffs to explore, imagine when they finished building the Costco behind this mall, the traffic would be chaotic from here to Valley View Casino read more

Malls aren't quite what they used to be. We used to love hanging out at North County Fair, there were so many shops and options you could find something to keep everyone happy. While we do love certain shops (Hot Topic, Box Lunch, Target, and the Cheesecake Factory) we do miss stores like Nordstrom out there. I keep hoping some larger stores will come back and breathe new life into the mall because we love going out there. It is close and plenty of parking so always a great option for shopping (especially during the busy holidays). The food court has gotten a massive update and there are some decent options. Maybe some entertainment options might help revive the mall a bit. Maybe a theater or something to bring in more foot traffic through the stores. read more

Formally known as Westfield North County (in case you were wondering why the decade old yelp page and hundreds of reviews for this mall disappeared abruptly). These days there are many empty retail spaces at this mall. Unfortunately that's the result of the former owners (Westfield) which continuously raised leasing rates despite fewer mall guests. It made no sense. Now Westfield is selling all of their malls in America. - No movie theater. With the Escondido movie theater set to close this was a complete missed opportunity. There isn't much of a reason for people to stay around for longer then fulfilling basic shopping needs. - How bad is this mall? Rather than put in a movie theater or building low income housing in the empty parking lot (which the city proposed) they're putting in another Costco. Really? That's like 5 Costcos withing a 10 mile radius. Crazy.. - They've been putting in some new food court options. My new favorite is Suki Hana which offers up a filling meal at a fair price. - Starbucks on a Sunday was completely empty. - I lost a ROTD because Westfield shut down the old mall yelp page. Go see Bridget and the lovely amazing staffed at Brighton... Trust me just go. You will find all of the things you never knew you needed it, all at once. Every wall, every aisle and the personal recommendations are heavenly. There is something for everyone. Love has no dollar amount or price tag when you listen to your heart. When I was shopping in there, there were items in there that reminded me of my clients... So of course I got them as gifts for when we close escrow in two weeks. Great memories at this indoor mall. Growing up this was my place to go. For my parents this was their place to walk around. Tri level in some places and great stores to shop. I was in the area so I stopped by Starbucks, Sees, and Lush, etc . It's a clean mall, great for just walking and getting steps in. Lol Also they have decent restaurants to choose from. Though about a quarter of the mall is empty after the pandemic it's still a decent place to dine and shop. With free AC it's a great option to escape the heat. Parking is never difficult and it feels pretty safe. Brings back memories when I walk up and down the stairs and escalators. In it's prime, it was beautiful and full of people. read more

Nice local Mall, I want to see it survive and encourage people to visit. I mostly go for JCP,Target, Macys and Bath and Body works. There are other national chains, salons and Mom and Pop import stores. There are new owners so they are getting new businesses. I wish there was more for the middle age crowd. There are tons of kiosks, stores, play rooms for children and teens that are similar to each other. Hopefully more clothing stores for "mature" people can come. Excited for two new restaurants and club that will open in the next few months. It's a pleasant place to spend a few hours to shop, eat or just people watch or beat the heat. I prefer shopping in person then having to return online purchases. read more

The City of Escondido needs to step up, go scorched earth on this property and turn it into something more useful for the citizens of North County. There is definitely NO leadership with current management. Property is run down, from the parking lot (can't see parking space lines and potholes) to escalators out of order. You can't tell the hoodlums from the security guards, with the way they dress. Time to put this relic out of its missary. read more

Good mall has the Apple Store and a couple other interesting vendors always easy to park

This place is a dying mall. You got 3 levels of stores but only half are fully vacant. So many empty store fronts, it's kinda embarrassing. The only thing that is keeping the mall alive is Target, Lululemon, and Apple. Security is a joke (heavy set dude with the ponytail yelled at an employee who works at the mall). And the cherry on top....the mall smells like sewage and fecal matter. This place also is not ADA friendly/compliant. Half of the escalators work and the elevator has been out of order for 6 months now. Your entire clientele are seniors and elderly. Get it together "Mershops". The owners of the mall (Bridge Group Investments) also own and founded Shoe Palace and surprise-surprise, their Shoe Palace store received a huge makeover. Hey Mershops, let's consider maybe improving the mall like fixing the elevators? read more

Costco is coming! At least that's the word on the street. They have a high quality Santa with a large seat. He's an excellent draw for the mall. Otherwise, why are you there? Target, 24 hour Fitness or one of the smaller retailers still in business? There are two new places that are absolute extremes. Public Market or Last Chance. Both offer exceptions on the same floor.
