I just didn't expect an organic bakery, farm, and cheese shop to appear in the middle of Utah after miles and miles of desert, ghost towns, and a beef jerky shack. But Mesa Farm Market is exactly the sort of organic bakery you'd expect to find in this situation. The bread, coffee, and goat cheese we picked up were all excellent. They have both fresh and aged goat cheese, but we both preferred the fresh variety. The bread kept well for several days and was perfectly hearty with a nice chewy crust, while still soft on the inside. The atmosphere, however, was straight odd. The owner was there when we arrived working on some new goat cheese, but quickly disappeared when we walked in the small shop (which is also where they cook). In his place appeared a woman who my husband thought might be his mail order bride, but I can only guess must be WOOFing (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms). She spoke good, but hesitant, English and initially just stared at us, then seemed really distant. She was more pleasant after a few minutes of us making decisions about what to buy, but I don't think we ever got a smile out of her. She was also wearing a thick, wooly looking, turtleneck sweater in the desert in September. I'm not taking stars off because for all I know he has her captive there. I don't know. Like I said, it's a strange place. read more

We sampled the cheeses, fresh bread, pesto and fresh brewed coffee. Everything was five star quality, including the friendly owner and staff. Easy to pass without seeing the sign, it's well worth it to turn around and enjoy the incredible food. read more
Located on the drive to/fro Moab and Capitol Reef NP, Randy's business is a joy amid wild geography! We enjoyed fresh baked bread, 4 varieties of goat cheese, and fresh tomatoes. Offerings are seasonal and delicious! Definitely stop in and enjoy! read more

I wish we could name posts because this would be called "the enlightened farmer". I was on a 5 day trip around the incredible landscape of Southern Utah and my friend told me I had to check out this farm and meet Randy. Thank god I made the trip a little past Capitol Reef (perfect for travelers from Capitol Reef to Moab) and found this place. Its the dream that whole foods is selling. Randy makes fresh bread, pesto, and grows beautiful vegetables and his happy goats help him make amazing cheeses (he learned from a french woman and you can tell). So needless to say the food alone is worth the trip. (The drive between Capitol Reef and his farm looks like the moon) In addition to the food, Randy is a musician and interested in how to make the world a happier place so grab him for his take on life and it will be your favorite stop on your trip. read more

We stopped here on our way from Capitol Reef to Moab, and it was one of the highlights of our entire road trip from SC to UT and back. The fresh bread, pesto, cheese, veggies and yogurt were amazing. It was the meal and the break that we needed. We made sure to leave with lots of goodies, and we enjoyed them for days on our travels. If you are traveling that stretch of 24, you need to stop at Mesa Farm Market! read more

Stopped there on a recommendation from a friend and I am so glad I did. Randy is a super friendly guy and also had the pleasure to meet his partner, who is a doctor that goes back and forth between Caineville and LA. Well, these people know what they are doing in terms of healthy and delicious food! The goat cheese and yogurt are so fresh and delicious, and is delightful as a spread on their different types of freshly baked bread. I also had the sauerkraut and the pickled okras. I have not had pickled okras that fresh, crunchy and delicious like that again. I seriously cannot recommend this place more, and next time I am in the area, I will for sure make a stop here again. read more

Driving from Capitol Reef to Canyonlands in September 2018 we spotted this farm stand and pulled in. What a great place! We talked tomatoes and compared favorites with Randy. Also bought some delicious homemade kombucha, sourdough bread and some fresh fruit--all delicious and made and/ or grown with love. Our best discovery was the piñon skin cream made by someone they knew. This stuff is amazing--healed a dry cracked knuckle almost immediately, healed an intense sunburn and healed our son's skin issues that he had been dealing with for 2+ years. When I returned home I promptly ordered a bunch more and gave out as Christmas gifts. Did I emphasize how amazing it is ?!! read more

This place is a gem! You can tell as soon as you walk in that everything is made with love. You'll be offered whatever is ready - so it will depend on the season, the weather, and the time. We had fresh bread, a medium hard goat cheese, and pesto. I lived in Italy for a while and this pesto takes the cake for sure! Their kombucha was so refreshing on that steamy July day, and my husband said their coffee was the best of our trip. Go! You won't regret it! read more

You have to travel to get here... and its worth it. Its very difficult to find "farm to table" ANYTHING in the area. Almost impossible. Please check this place out. Randy does wood fired bread, several varieties of goat cheese and assorted vegetables that are all grown on site! A diamond in the rough of the Fremont river! A place like this exists nowhere else! read more

I joined Yelp just so I could encourage others to seek out and visit this wonderful oasis. You must try a cup of coffee even if you don't drink coffee. The bill of faire is all non-gmo. Very wholesome. You will note the difference. The scenery is best described by its name "Luna Mesa". Once you come to MFM you will want to return again and again. Who needs WiFi when you can chat with Randy? read more

This is a very unexpecting place for some of the best all natural cheeses and bread I have ever tasted. The people who own and operate Mesa Farm are truly committed to creating the best organic food in the most environmentally conscience manner. If you ever find yourself in Caineville or in Capitol Reef National Park, Mesa Farm is a must!!! read more

We LOVED Mesa Market. I haven't had goat cheese for a long time and this was so, so good. We also bought a loaf of the bread, which was baked in a wood fired outdoor oven. What an awesome find after leaving beautiful Capitol Reef Nat. Park. Randy is a very interesting and even gave us a copy of the Restock Wilderness Newsletter. It's always enlightening to read about people who are trying to preserve Wilderness areas. read more

I am a goat cheese lover and look for it where ever I can find it. I have to say that this is by far the best feta I have ever had. They have another cheese, I can't remember the name that was incredible as well. They made me a nice cup of coffee for the road. I also was able to buy some large leafed basil and tomato for lunch on the road (with my cheese of course). I would consider their farm an Oasis. If only I could eat wheat... I would have purchased some of their fresh wood fired bread, which was being fired when I was there. Thanks so much for your love and work. read more
