We hit the Gifford House this morning hoping to finally try their cinnamon rolls. They were already sold out by 10 am, so we grabbed three pies instead. Apple, peach, and cherry. All solid, but the apple pie was the standout for sure. The shop is small and charming with a bunch of kitchen items and old school goodies. Almost everything had a Made in the USA sticker which I appreciated. There are picnic tables outside with beautiful views and plenty of wildlife wandering around. My favorite part was that all the trees are labeled. Almond tree, apple tree, everything clearly marked. Honestly every farm should do that so you know what you are looking at when you pass by. Definitely worth stopping for pie and hopefully a cinnamon roll if you get there early enough. read more

Visiting Capitol Reef national park for the day and everyone told us to stop at Gifford House first thing to snag the pie.its a cute historic homestead house which has a room set up how it was back in the day. The rest of the house is a little store that sells jams, syrups and other food. More importantly, there is the selection of cute personal sized pie on different flavors, cinnamon roll and homemade ice cream. You queue up to the register and tell them what kind of pie(s) you want. We chose the peach pie and a cinnamon roll. They take credit card but add the 3% merchant fee btw. There's picnic tables at which you can enjoy your sweets. The pie.... Wow! The crust was so flaky and light and the peach filling had just the right amount of sweetness. No wonder the pies sell out quickly. The cinnamon roll was so soft and the frosting was so good! It was a perfect way to fuel our day in the park! Parking is across the street. read more

Delicious pie in Capitol Reef National Park. Went for the mixed berry and it was so delicious. I wish I could've tried more of the flavors. There's plenty of benches in the grass area outside. They have a small lot out front with 30 minute parking. There's also a larger dirt lot across the street for the hiking trails that you could park at and walk over. read more

Arrive early for the best selection of pies! We visited twice on our journey and got yummy pies each time. Our visits offered Apple, Mixed Berry (with crumble crust top), Peach, Cherry, and Strawberry Rhubarb. Those in our group who like Rhubarb said that was their favorite. My favorite was the Cherry. Such a robust, tart cherry flavor. My husband preferred the mixed berry because of the crumb topping, and he's not wrong about how good that topping is. The store also sells fun jams, jellies, books, trinkets, handmade items and if you arrive very early, cinnamon rolls. They are HUGE rolls. The pies are smaller sized, but not skimpy at all. I love the crust, very well done. I bought the recipe book and hope to make some delicious pie. read more

The apple pie is great! Best I ever had. I wanted the recipe so I purchased the cookbook "A Bite of History" that was near the cash register. The book left out so many important details on making the pies and some information on the procedures like the bake time for all the pies that had me scratching my head thinking how can this be? I can't even believe it made it out to be published with so much basic information missing! I may be intentional, so they won't divulge exactly how it's made. It's too bad. A waste of money for the book. The cinnamon rolls were dry. I'm glad I stopped in for the Apple pie. It is something you have to do while at Capital Reef. read more

Don't miss this when at Capitol Reef! Get there early and get in line. The Apple, strawberry rhubarb and multi berry pies were all phenomenal. We also added on a cinnamon roll and ate that the next day and it was just amazing. Highly highly recommend. read more
