I have never gone to this liquor store until now and I have been living in San Diego for most of my life...then again I am unsure if this was even a liquor store back in the day. I stopped by here over Thankstaking break to by some drinks to bring over to my friends place and I would normally just give this spot an A-OK rating for being a regular liquor store on the block. However, I will up the rating cause I found some Sisco in this liquor store, which I know is sometimes hard to find. I went here to buy lotto and the guy behind the counter was soo extremely rude. I asked him nicely if I could buy lotto for a specific date in advance. I don't play the lotto and asked him nicely. He was yelling and was soo rude. Then proceeds to tell me "No if you want to play pick your own numbers i'm not gonna pick them for you!" I walked away and told him he was extremely rude. Since when has a 375ml bottle of Patron Silver, 2 12oz bottles of Pellegrino, and 1 six pack of Alpine Nelsons cost over $63? My boyfriend brought his receipt--which isn't itemized, by the way--up to the store clerk and he claimed that the Patron costed around $40. The prices on the other items seemed reasonable but we didn't have time to really calculate the supposed subtotal although something didn't seem right. We always buy the same stuff around San Diego and it never breaks over $45 so $63+ was way off. According to that guy, he's *certain* that the 375ml costs around $40 and that "the smaller one" is around $20... no it doesn't. The 750ml costs $40 but the 375ml is around $20 everywhere else (do a quick google search and see the msrp for all competitors). He was confusing the sizes/prices but he wouldn't stop to check and we didn't want to drag the situation out so we just forked over the cash and left. By the time I got home, I calculated the totals and everything is overpriced. Are they adding extra CRV or what's the secret? Isn't price gouging illegal? This isn't the most appealing neighborhood so it would be unfortunate if they're taking us for suckers and assuming we don't know the law. I guess for an extra couple of dollars I should just go to Costco and get the 1.75 liter of Patron. read more

if i could give no stars i would, first off they are discriminatory in who they do card and do not. i have been a patron on multiple occasions for years now and not all times have i been carded. i am understanding of people not wanting to get in trouble for selling without checking but at least be consistent with it and not be violent when being called out on it. i'm not sure who it was but one of the employees ran out and punched the window of the car i was in and had a metal pipe to do who knows what. i felt very threatened and unsafe there and would not recommend spending your time, money, or effort. read more

The store clerk is very nice and has helped me pick some wine before. I don't buy much alcohol and I'm not here often but he always remembers me and is very friendly. Never had a bad vibe here. Love, love, love this store and staff. Moved into the neighborhood not too long ago and this is my go to corner store (mostly for liquor, cuz duh lol). Alex and his crew are super friendly and always ready with a suggestion. They have a large selection of premium whiskeys (my favorite) and craft beers along with plenty of other spirits to choose from. The best part? They are open til 2am! Say what?!?! Just keep in mind that because they stay open late that they open a little later (typically around noon). Has one of the best liquor collections and by far the only place you can find rare whiskies, also they have a huge craft beer selection and their knowledgeable staff will take their time to show you around and tell you all about their products!! Worst customer service ever.. Asked for peach schnapps and the guys shows me a small .99 individual size. I asked if he happened to have a bigger btl he said no. I asked if he had any flavor schnapps bigger he said no. So I walk around a bit and find a case with big btls of schnapps but it's locked in a clear shelf. ive gone here twice in my life, both times ive gotten nothing but attitude from the guy behind the counter. different guy both times so at least its not just ONE rude person but the whole store. always starts with an attitude about me being of age, even after presenting my CA drivers license (im 27 btw) i dont mind my id being checked, i mind being asked if its a fake and given attitude when he believes it is a fake. then i made the mistake of using debit and hit the wrong pin number and he got an attitude claiming that now he has to pay a charge. i asked him what his problem was and he said something in another language so i told him to keep his shit ill go to one of the other 20 liquor stores in the neighborhood. he tried to tell me if i came back hed call the cops. GREAT customer service sir. its not exactly a monopoly on liquor stores in san diego but this guy acts like his is the only place in town. i said i wouldnt go back after the first time, gave it 6 months and late on night decided to stop in and buy 2 beers and got the same attitude as the first time and not even a thanks when leaving. worst liquor store ive been too, asshole behind the counter. and not even competitive pricing on most items. no thx buddy. not sure how this store has an A health rating when theres bugs on the ground both times ive gone in, shelves covered in dust and just in disarray. good to know he treats his own store the way he trest his customers. ill drive the extra 5 mins to go to Kings Liquor by Ralphs or Rosewood liquor off briarwood. both guys in those stores are polite and treat customrs as customers, not as annoyances. read more
