A nice old venue in downtown Grand Junction…read more The seats are comfortable and the ushers are helpful. The rest rooms are down a flight of stairs. I can't comment on the concessions. Early in the day of the show we attended, the marquee showed the incorrect date for the one night show (the previous day). There are many nearby dinner options.

They took my cell number in case of any cancellations or other issues. We showed up early for the show, hung around for about 45 minutes, the theatre was dark and we later found out the show was cancelled. My wife looked on Lance Burton's Facebook page, in which he stated in effect " he wasn't sure why he show was cancelled in Grand Junction, but he was here twice before and was disappointed the show was postponed. And if you bought tickets, you can get a refund at the point of purchase." He would be appearing the next night in Santa Fe New Mexico. I responded to the Avalon on Monday August 14th, but the box office was closed. I went back on August 17th and spoke with the woman who was working the box office, explained my situation and concerns, she said she would have to speak with her boss. She later returned and advised me that it was not cancelled, but postponed and I could not ask for a refund until it is rescheduled, then I could come back for a refund. I told her that is unacceptable, get your boss. Another woman, who later identified herself as Heather Velasco, Box Office Manager, she said a similar story, that I would have to come back after the show is rescheduled. I advised her of what Lance Burton said on his Facebook page, and she said "he was supposed to change that." I replied that's not my problem. I want a refund and I want it today! Heather already had my information along with my phone number and said she would get me a refund that day or the next day. I tried contacting her on Friday August 18th, with the phone number she supplied on her business card, which went to voicemail. And as of this review I haven't heard from anyone at the Avalon. So I'm disputing the charge with my credit card company. So I won't be doing business with the Avalon Theater again, why would I want the aggravation of dealing with people who can't or won't do the jobs they were hired to do.

Having danced at…read morepretty much every studio in town over the last 24 years Absolute Dance makes me love my life even more. As an adult dancer there are so many classes available to us at all levels. Even my 77 year old mother takes four classes a week! The other adult students have become like family as we all cheer each other on in classes and pep talk each other when we're down. Parents of child students I've visited with make me want to be at the studio even more as they're all so friendly and encouraging of the adult students. Even the kids are super friendly and approachable if I have a dance question or just want to chit chat with them. I can't say enough about the various teachers I've had. They treat the adult classes like we are just as important as the advanced kids and many are able to teach all skill levels in one class setting. The owner (also a teacher) is FANTASTIC!!! She's been dancing her entire life and what she has done for the studio and dance community is phenomenal in trying to increase the visibility of dance to the valley with the professional ballet company and creating a pre-professional program for up and coming youngsters. She goes over and above to make classes special and available to many people. Her knowledge of technique and musicality is way beyond most other teachers I've had over the years. The guidance and patience she has with so many different people pulling her in so many directions is remarkable, frankly I don't know how she does it and keeps that great smile and sense of humor!!!! She's so positive all the time. Truly, I don't know how I can ever repay the owner for all the time, energy, opportunity and love I've received from Absolute Dance. In talking to the other adult students I believe most of us feel this way! Thank you Absolute Dance and Theresa!!!

I really wish dance could be fun and not involve this high school drama behavior. You may be thinking well, kids will be kids. It's a school full of young people. This is true, hit the tone at the top is the source of the issue not the children. The owner has been overheard blatantly saying rude, demeaning, catty, condescending and unprofessional comments. It's quite disheartening and has ruined my opinions of the school and soured greatly my taste for it as well. Not a good move. Not a good representation of how to act!
