Karaoke on Friday nights is so fun! Especially when you've come from a fancy pants dinner and need to get reacquainted with your "divey" side. And, unlike most dive bars, the drink situation is pretty decent. Wine in a can for me, please. Also, the quality of singing talent is surprisingly good, be it from the locals or tourists. The Livery can be a calm "Cheers-esque" location. It can also be the place you happen into and instantly wake up in the morning wondering "what happened?!" In the most fun way. Listen Linda, listen! If you want a posh place dont come here. BUT if your my kind of people then this is the place for you. Honest, funny, give you the shirt off their backs kinds folks. We will be back to visit and party with these fine locals. We were welcomed and spoken to like they have known us for years. The bartender even offered her fifth wheel to us, when she found out our car broke down and that was the only reason we were in the area. When our taxi showed up I was disappointed that we couldn't stay longer. We will be back for the Peach fest and maybe even the Lavender fest. Hell my daughter wants to move to the area LOL. First time in Palisade, we would highly recommend this bar. Great service and great time!

I had to talk my husband into entering this fine establishment. After surveying the clientle for about 20 minutes from the outside of the bar on a shaded bench after wine tasting, I finally convinced him that it would be super cool to go into this wonderful bar and have a beer. Nothing tastes better in 90+ degree weather after wine tasting, than a frosty mug of beer. We entered with Freebird blaring on the jukebox and a short woman instructing the bartender to put MORE BOOZE, MORE BOOZE, MORE BOOZE into her vodka and soda on the rocks. She then yanked the bottle of olives out of her hand and began to dirty up her drink. She closed her show by writing a check for said drink. Now THAT is what I'm talkin' 'bout! We decided to order an Amber Bock on tap which was the darkest beer they had to offer. It was served in a frosty glass mug for only $2. The other choices for beers on tap were Bud, Bud Light, Coors, and Coors Light. Most patrons were drinking bottled beers. During our libation there was shift change. The old bartender told the new that she forgot to ask Mike to get them more ice. The new took her position at the bar commandingly answering the phone as it rang off the hook. The last ring ended in her yelling out that the lights on her truck were on. She instructed her mom, the short woman who wrote the check, to go turn them off for her. There was confusion between mother and daughter about how to turn off said headlights but in the end, peace was restored. Freebird played on. We finished our Amber Bocks and much to my amazement, the hubby then wanted to order a Silver Bullet. We were in the Rockies after all. I mistakenly just called out Coors Light and the bartender brought us a bottle. I was hoping for another frosty mug. Oh well. When that bottle was gone, we hit the hot streets to tour the drive though liquor store front and take in the local flavor a bit more. On our way back to our car, the short woman pulled up with a back seat full of ice asking us how long we would be in town. Unfortunately we only had one more night so we would miss the touring farmers market that she claimed made this downtown pit-stop quaint once a week. We thanked her for her hospitality and jumped into our Hyundai Accent and headed back to our Hampton Inn in Grand Junction. Now that felt like a day on vacation! read more

This is the end stop on the Palisade Booze Crawl (after the distillery and brewery), and what a fine place to rest your boozy keister at that! Beautiful interior; I have no idea how old The Livery is, but it looks like John Wane and Clint Eastwood had a saloon love child. I desperately want to enter this place with a gun holster on my hips, order a cold one with just a nod, and then shoot a mean game of pool. Perhaps after beating my opponent in this steely eyed match of skill (sadly in reality, totally unlikely), I'd like to have a shoot out on the bar, ending somehow in a romantic (yet, overplayed) silver-screen kiss. So I like westerns... The occupants of this fine Shoot-em-up Saloon are any where from Harley Harlots, 1st Rate (full time) Boozers, The Lost, and people who understand what it means to enjoy a real, honest to goodness, bar. Don't plan on ordering your foo-foo bitch drinks here, cus it ain't that kind of bar. The most complicated drink you're gunna get is a gin n soda, or a rum n coke. Oh yeah, and 'there's no crying in Baseball'! They even have some pretty great bands play here every once in a while. Overall: Play to your inner cowboy and get yourself a frothy mustache. read more

I was in town for a wedding, and after things started to die down at the reception, we decided to venture into town and look for something other than CO wine. This place worked out just fine, basically your standard dive bar. Pool tables, dart boards, cheap beers, and locals. They had a sufficient amount of TVs to check out the Cubs playoff game and it got the job done. read more

Our large party ventured into this establishment on a Saturday evening and were able to secure a table, which unfortunately had spilled liquor on it and was sticky and no one in sight to even wash it down. We felt fortunate that we had a place to sit though and had waited in line at their busy bar to order a couple of rounds of drinks. Down the street at the beer distillery there had been a bluegrass band playing which we weren't interested in listening to. Very soon the entire party from down the street started crowding into the Livery. They popped someone down at the door and proceeded to charge cover to these people. A waitress came to us and said we'd need wristbands to stay or we could close out our ticket! Never have I ever been to a bar prior to cover and been forced to pay once they started collecting. If we'd been informed of this we would've gone somewhere else. Bad business and bad service!!! read more

I was warned when we came into this bar that you are to respect the staff and locals or you may be kicked out. Fair enough. I love divey bars that have solid CO beers on tap like ODell and Avery along with the standards. I think my favorite part was escaping the heat with a cold beer while the guys at the bar were singing along to the jukebox. Singing in bars is The Dr's MO. I get that this place is a local dive bar, the locals run the show, all that "local etiquette" stuff. We walked in and walked right out. Not because of the locals, who I'm sure are decent people, but the smell of diesel fuel was disgusting. It was as if someone had sprayed diesel fuel on the floor, the smell was overpowering. Not a very good environment to eat food in let alone a few cold beers. Small towns typically have places to eat in that you never forget because of great food and a great prices but unfortunately this establishment ruined it for patrons on this day. Hopefully the smell isn't permanent and it was just this particular day where they either left the back door open during a truck delivery or maybe a patron soaked in diesel fuel. What a great throwback to the bars of yesteryear! Long bar with good pool tables. Friendly, local staff that make you feel welcome.

We walked into this place not knowing what to expect due to the dark and old fashioned entrance to the building. We were welcomed by the bartender who made me an absolutely delicious Bloody Mary. Drink prices were beyond reasonable, and the old fashioned bar decor created a great environment. We had a couple of cocktails, played a few games of pool, chatted with some locals, and all in all had a great experience. Sometimes the simple things in life really are the best! read more
