When I returned the next day, Rob's coworker rang me up for $300. I told him Rob had quoted me $180. Rob then told his coworker $200, and the price was lowered accordingly. First, powder coating needs a perfectly clean surface to ensure that the electrostatically charged "paint" adheres to the metal properly. Some shops only sandblast before coating - but this shop uses some extra processes (not just degreaser and alcohol) to make sure you get perfect adhesion on bare metal. Since the owner is intimately familiar with auto body repair and he knows what happens down-stream from his shop, if he's priming something he's going to make sure it's done right for the next guy. He also does finish body work - and does it well - so the thing is that he doesn't just know what happens when he has the product but he understands where the product is going and what needs to be done to it. Whether you want your wheels, car parts, or even yard furniture powder coated, this place is probably the best in the area - hands down. We just had to drop off the item and pick up when complete. Twice they have matched what color the client wanted. So far no complaints and we've been using them almost 1 year now. The cost is in the middle. If item is not too large or a big amount, they will have it ready in a week, and they provide quotes in advance when requested.

Three weeks go by, I call and they say it will be another couple of weeks. Stated they had to strip it again because they powder coated the hinge shut. Six weeks from the beginning they call and say it is done. They showed me the now bent up warped and dented cabinets. I asked them if they were proud of the work? They said no. They blamed the sand blaster. Told them the cabinets were useless to me. They said there was no charge. Gee thanks now I'm out two custom metal cabinets from an antique RV. Not only did they bent the metal they also bend the flanges that hold the hinges and several double thickness edges. Then they powder coater over the bent-up metal. Bubbled up dirty powder coating looks like it was coated over sand paper it is so rough. Maybe they can coat a fence post but they should not try sheet metal.

Every shop I contacted said they only painted or powder coated wheels in one color. After hearing the same response from at least 10 shops, I attempted to paint them myself which was around late August 2021. They came out good but not great. Some of the black got on the red spokes. It wasn't horrible but noticeable. In September 2021, I saw an advertisement for Powder Coating by Frank T. I contacted Frank T and he told me to send him pictures of what I wanted. He told me that he could do it. He gave me an estimate of about two weeks but he finished the wheels in less than a week. He sandblasted my paint job and got to work. He didn't complain. In fact, he said my paint job was almost close. Anyway, Frank T's job is spectacular. I highly recommend. I'm not sure if he is still around but if you can find him, I highly recommend.
