They have a great selection of products, but terrible customer service. I attempted to purchase a few panels of tin ceiling, and when I got to checkout, I received a message that they were no longer accepting orders. The irony is: a few hours later, I got an automated abandoned cart email saying "you left items in your cart." So I gave them a call. The person who answered was pleasant and said they had the item I was looking for in stock, but she wasn't able to price out shipping. She took my phone number, but never called back. I called two times (and left two voicemails) over the next week without a returned call. I finally got someone on the phone today and they said they aren't taking orders. After looking for months to find the right metal backsplash I located your company online. Customer service was very helpful and knowledgeable. As you can see the pattern compliments the cabinet knobs perfectly. Very easy to work with basic tools. I do suggest that you wear gloves when handling the metal panels. As I learned the hard way. Terrible company. Aggressive and hateful customer service. Multiple orders have been ruined without refund nor remorse over the past three years. They sent faulty tiles with defects and refused to send replacements or correct their issues. Having to replace this tiles, I ordered replacements only to have them cancel my order and refund me. These tiles look wonderful but have huge design flaws for installation. The nail hole do not overlap when you follow the directions to overlap the tiles and the nails provided have no head on them so they do not hold the tiles to the wall. If you try and nail a nail through the tile it shatters the paint. The only way to adhere these tiles to the wall is with a Liquid Nails Fuse-It, which would be fine if they told you this in install instructions. The install instructions ruin the expensive product. read more

I have placed two orders, have yet to receive a tracking number or actual product. Every time I've emailed or called the answer is it is shipping this week. I have now heard that 4 times. We are completing a backsplash. We specifically ordered from this company because they state their panels are inches 18 inches by 24 inches. Well, they are 18.5 inches wide -- this is requiring us to cut off the excess, not that easily accomplished. Also, the panels are not cut perfectly, sometimes the ends are flared, this also requires delicate trimming. The corner molding, at $25 a piece, is not angled to 90 degrees and the ends are crimped where the company cut them. This makes it difficult to slide the tiles in. On, the positive side ... the tiles do look beautiful... we are still in the midst of installation. The tiles came quickly ... however, we made our order on March 1st, over the phone. We were not offered the 10% off for March Madness sale that is currently offered. read more

We tiled the ceilings of our bedroom and retreat in a hand-finished metal ceiling tile. It is beautiful! We decided to do another room with the tile we had left over but needed more tile. The company did an excellent job of matching the tile so we could do the second project. We haven't finished yet, but it promises to be just as nice. read more

I would never order from this place - first, because of these awful reviews, second, from my own brief but discouraging email exchange, and third, because of the barriers they create in getting samples of their product. I was considering placing a fairly large order but wanted to see some color samples first to see how they would look in my house. I added two samples to my shopping cart, a total of $5 worth of merchandise, and it calculated nearly $15 worth of postage! A $19 charge for two tiles worth $5. I emailed them asking if this shipping charge was right and received a brusque message back stating "that is correct". They're obviously not big on customer service and won't be getting my business. Edit: Response to Jeff's response: American Tin Ceiling Co (who I haven't ordered from yet but probably will soon) has pre-made sample packs (whites, coppers, etc.) of 6-inch color swatches, each for $10, INCLUDING SHIPPING, or you can build your own sample pack of any colors: 5 samples for $10, or 10 samples for $15, including shipping. I call BS on Jeff and Metal Ceiling Express - further proof that this is someone I definitely don't want to deal with. Edit2: Oh, boy - is this gonna turn into a good old fashioned flame war? This is a terrible company all around. The quality/appearance of product does not match the description at all. We ordered custom painted ceiling tiles and they were the wrong color. No big deal, right? After chasing someone for a week, just to inquire about return information, I had to eat $50 in shipping costs and a huge restocking fee. All over a mistake that was made by the company! My wife and I are Interior Designers in San Francisco, and are encouraging everyone we know, not to do business with metal Ceiling Express. read more

Wow! I am shocked by these bad reviews... I had a completely different experience--twice. Though I agree their shipping is a little steep, when you combine it with their fantastically low product prices you will still come out ahead of ordering from most other companies (or at least I did). I ordered tin ceiling tiles for my backsplash, which were delivered within 7-10 days as promised. We liked them so much (much nicer/more definied pattern than samples I got from other companies) we decided to extend the backsplash along the whole wall and I placed a second order. That one came in under a week. For me, it is a no brainer that if I need these kind of supplies again, I will use this company. read more

They need to drop that "express" part of their name. I ordered on the 12th, they took the money and I got a "confirmation number" telling me I would receive my order in 7 days, on the 19th I called them because I still had not received a tracking number, after about a half hour on the phone I was told I would receive a tracking number on monday (it was Friday) when I received it, I found out it was going to be yet another week before I received it. I ordered these tiles to finish my kitchen before my housewarming party, now they won't come until 2 days AFTER the party. "Express" is NOT the word I would use to describe this business. Ugh. Saw negative reviews but realize also there are 2 sides to every story. So I called to see about their shipping times and explained that although we had read terrible reviews, we were willing to order from them if they could tell us their realistic shipping time. Person who answered the phone said she didn't know. I then asked if we placed an order, when would it be fulfilled. She sounded as if I had imposed on her day. I have purchased from this company twice several years apart. I am repurposing an old cabinet and book shelf. Needed tin tile to match the original tile I purchased for the room ceiling. Completely satisfied then and now. I sent the company a few pictures of the ceiling and they asked permission to use them on their website. They are still there and looking good. Absolutely Horrible. Their site says tiles will ship within a week. I called three weeks after ordering and they said they would ship next day. They didn't end up shipping until three weeks after that. I called three times and left messages to return the tiles and no one ever returned my call. I finally got hold of someone who said they would only refund less than half my money and I would have to pay shipping and handling. Their cheap prices are not worth their horrific customer service, you are better off paying twice as much at Home Depot and getting the product same day. read more

I have emailed the company with no response and made a phone call "Autumn is on the other line do you want to hold" after waiting I finally had to leave a message, again no return response. It is hard to understand the negative reviews...I have been dealing with this company for over a year as I couldn't make up my mind what I wanted... they have been wonderful!!! They have sent me samples immediately and the quality has been excellent. They even sent me some pattern samples free of charge! They have done a lot of hand holding with me and have been wonderful and helpful (especially Autumn!) and Jeff the owner has always been courteous and informative. I finally decided on something after lots of samples and got my 2ft tin tiles (clear coated) for my bathroom ceiling and they are beautiiful!!! very good quality and they included some samples i asked for free of charge:) The shipping was quicker than they told me and they were very responsive about any questions.( and this was after they had been hit by hurricane Irma and lost power and business was down for a week) I also found that I had forgotten to order nails and as I needed them ASAP Autumn told me she would overnight them to me...(only charging me for ground shipping) I did tons of research and contacted the 3 major companies that do tin tiles and these guys were by far the best! After purchasing my tiles from Jeff at Metal Ceiling Express I have found that the company is happy to take your money and makes many promises to help if you should ask. However I found that not to be the case. My order was not delivered on time as promised. I had to call back to get my order in the mail. Once I received my order I placed my tiles on my ceiling but found that the nail up process was not as explained. The nails did not hold up the tiles as promised. We had to use glue in many spots to keep the tiles up. Also the coating Jeff stated was important to protect the tiles is a scam. The coating if there is one at all does not protect the product AT ALL. After installing I could see fingerprints everywhere on the tiles. I used the denatured alcohol that Jeff had recommended and it did not take of any of the prints or blemishes from the install. I then used some citrus cleaner to remove the prints and it completely tarnished the tiles and removed all the SO CALLED PROTECTIVE COATING. I called Jeff to ask as he said he would be happy to help with any questions. I asked Jeff how I might remove the blemishes and the issue with the tarnishing of the tiles. Jeff response was its a paint coating and if you use a cleaner it will tarnish the tiles. Silence... He then recommended soap and water. Wow what a novice idea. That didnt work either and the tiles still are tarnished with fingerprints all over. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for ceiling tiles. There are many other companies out there doing this and you would be better served going elsewhere. read more

The tile is nice but the service is absolutely terrible. I purchased my ceiling tiles and they arrived a couple weeks late. I was not in a rush so no problem. They came without installation hardware or instructions. So give them a call and found out I have to order the mounting hardware separately and the instructions are online. I was not happy about a second order but again this is not really a problem. However this is phone call was on a Friday and I was planning to install my ceiling the following weekend. I had a week and just simply needed to place the order. I was told that I had to speak with "Chris" to determine my mounting configuration. Chris was not there and I was told he would call me back later that day, but I never received a call. I called again on Monday and Tuesday and was told that I would receive a call back which again never came. I had to call again on Wednesday and finally spoke with Chris and can only assume from his reaction that he never received any of these messages. I am told that UPS has already picked up for the day and they could not get the hardware to me before the weekend. Also, and the icing on the cake, they don't even make the mounting hardware in the color of my tile! Are you freaking kidding me. I was told to put the tile up with "small brads" so it wouldn't be as noticeable. Wow! Glad I spent my good money on a product that I cant even use without having to find another manufacturers mounting hardware. This is a shortsighted company that does not care about their customers. The tiles are affordable but there are plenty of other tile manufacturers out there with superior service and a complete line of product. read more

I found this company online and was not sure about it because of the other reviews on this site, all of which gave the company only one star. Still, because their copper-painted tiles are only about $13, compared to the same at Home Depot for about $22-$24, I decided to take a risk and place a $500 order. As the company states, it may take up to 3 weeks for a single-color order or tiles to be shipped, and that is just about exactly how long my order took before it was shipped from FL, I believe. Several days later, I was wondering what was going on, and a customer service rep there in FL answered and was very courteous and helpful. The tiles arrived shortly afterward in PA via UPS. None of them were damaged. The color (translucent copper) looked fantastic and was consistent the whole way through this batch of about 40 tiles--absolutely zero duds. Overall, a great purchase on my part--I'm glad I tried this company. read more
