Jack Hammond and I regularly met throughout the week for 60-minute training sessions. I can't emphasize this enough-- his enthusiasm, encouragement, and overall knowledge about training undoubtably helped me achieve my goals. Not only did he constantly challenge and push me to improve and train harder; but he did so with a positive attitude. Obviously just by looking at Jack, you'll be able to tell he knows a thing or two about fitness and lifting (the guy is ~~ripped~~), but what sets Jack apart from the other "bro-science" personal trainers, is that he is ACE-certified, has a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, and also has experience with college athletics. His overall understanding about fitness is all backed by his years of experience + knowledge about science-based explanations ... now I don't know about you, but I don't think I could have asked for a more qualified trainer. Due to personal obligations and a career change, I'm no longer able to train at Method as regularly. The good news is that I'll always be able to keep the lessons I've been taught on proper form, correct movements, acceptable adjustments, and lastly-- my higher and improved self-esteem. read more

I see some of the trainers' personal workouts while I'm coming and going in the space - and their strength, ability, stamina, and discipline AMAZE me. Super inspirational. Couple other plusses: the space is clean and beautiful, parking is easy peasy, there are always fresh towels to wipe your brow, and spring water is provided to quench your thirst. There is nothing better than having one on one or group training done with experienced professionals who take the time to get to know you personally. I was a frequent client at method for a few years, I graduated college and didn't have the time. I was ready to go back in again. Mind you I spent thousands of dollars before. Joining this gym is one of the best decisions I've ever made. The owner took the time to meet with me and understand my goals and matched me with John, who is a perfect for what I was looking for. The workouts are challenging yet fun, and he really takes the time to make sure I'm using the proper form. Method works with a diverse range of clients at all fitness levels, all ages, and everyone is respected and encouraged. I wanted to improve my core strength, muscle tone, and overall fitness in time for a major birthday, and more than met that goal. Today, I have more strength, stamina, and better muscle tone than I did 10 years ago. As someone who's worked out at several local health clubs over the years, I've seen the usual one-size-fits-all approaches to fitness, people battling over equipment and machines, dirty locker rooms, phone jockeys, all the stereotypes of bad gym behavior. Method is a great training studio for those who are serious about fitness and are dedicated to working with a trainer. It's not a regular gym, you're there specifically to work with a trainer, not on your own. It's spacious, there are never more than one or two people there, and it's very well-kept. I've worked most recently with Ramon Betances, who's been great. He pushes me to do my best but always with a sense of humor and professionalism. He's got an impish grin that keeps you going through the workout but he takes his work seriously. If you want some place that really caters to clients and is a cut above, this is your gym. They don't take walk-ins, so call or email for an appointment. And don't forget to ask for Ramon! read more

The staff is very personable and there's never any pressure to buy more sessions, etc. They also vary the workouts to keep them different and challenging. I've been a client at Method Fitness for about five years now. I've had some medical issues along the way and Amahl & his staff have been super supportive. I've been lucky enough to work with many of the trainers and loved them all. It is not like other gyms. It's a very calm, comfortable environment. My goal has always been to be strong and healthy. Of course I'd love to shed some pounds too but none of the trainers ever pushed me beyond what I could do. I've never felt intimidated going to Method either. There are men, women, teens, young & old, every shape and size person of all different abilities who work out at Method. Plus, they have a tread wall that is very fun (a little scary at first for someone like me who doesn't love to try new things). My previous trainer eased me into wall climbing and I loved it. My current trainer, Shane, has worked my love of boxing into my training routine. He really didn't do much of that with other clients but he knew I loved it so he started working it in. After a five year absence at the gym I decided to sign up with a personal trainer at Method Fitness. Mostly out of convenience of their location. However it has proven to be a great decision. The gym itself is always clean and they have everything you might need. I first met with Amahl (owner) he took his time with me to figure out what I was looking for and the best way to accomplish my goals. He paired me up with Adam. I have been working with Adam for the past ten weeks and I can't speak highly enough about him!! Adam is a great guy who really knows his stuff. It is obvious that he his passionate about what he does and keeps up with all the latest trends. He has designed a routine for me that challenges me, but does not destroy me!!! Therefore I am always happy to come back!! He is very patient and focused on making sure my technique is correct before loading up heavier weights. I have been training with Adam Clark at Method for about six months now, and honestly I feel very fortunate to be one of his clients. I had the goal of working with a professional trainer once a week to learn strength and weight training, and also I wanted to learn how to use (properly and safely) more of the strength and weights equipment at my regular gym for when I work out alone. I came to Method because I had known two other people in Providence who had been trained by Adam and they both highly recommended him (important aside: the people who recommended him are also both doctors, so I thought if this is the guy that they're seeking out, then that seems like a good endorsement to me). Besides wanting to learn how to lift weights safely and with supervision, I also came to Method because I had found my usual gym's weights area to be an intimidating space; I didn't feel comfortable there trying to learn. Working with a personal trainer was the only way I could get one-on-one guidance on lifting safely, in a non-intimidating space. My experience working with Adam toward these goals has only been positive. He has been very attentive, knowledgeable, and professional in all aspects. I now feel confident using my regular gym's strength and weights spaces and under Adam's supervision I have been making steady progress at a variety of strength and weight exercises. I consider my weekly training sessions with Adam to be an important investment in my health and well-being, and these sessions have also had the result of improving the quality of my work-outs I do alone.
