Went to the ER yesterday for what I thought was a bad sinus infection or something possibly more severe. The ER staff were all amazing and very intentional on making sure I was comfortable and in good hands. They didn't skip a beat! Dr. Shah was a fantastic doctor. As a RN myself who made the mistake of visiting this ER- in my opinion I would definitely avoid and Never visit again for any need of any sort. Very shoddy ER that provides rinky dink unprofessional and uncompassionate care. Save yourself the wasted ER bill and time and go to a more established facility. read more

MILLIE IN THE ER IS THE WORST, COLDEST NURSE I'VE EVER MET. I've never in my life met a nurse who was SO cold and had 0 empathy. Her name is MILLIE and works in the ER. From the second I got there, I was bawling my eyes out with abdominal pain on the right side in so much pain barely could walk. And she was so cold, I walk on a cane so struggled to carry my stuff to the room due to that and pain being so bad walk and 0 help. The pain was so bad I was bawling my eyes out for pretty much an entire 2 hours. NOT ONCE checked on me while sitting near hearing me crying. Only came in there if she had to do something. I even tried to say excuse me several times since the nurse area was right by me...nothing. Shortly after she just walk in the room watching me in so much pain crying, disconnected the Iv and walked out - NOT SAYING A SINGLE WORD OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE me. Before that An iv was put in to give me meds and the other nurse who was very nice (Lisa) told her I don't think this IV in will work, that it's hard up top and having issues. But the awful nurse Millie said no it'll work & to use it and they put medicine in and I start screaming that it's burning on fire and to stop the medicine. The entire area turned bright red and was burning on fire for over 40 minutes cause it leaked out of vein or something. And whole area was turning red before she took IV out but yet when I mentioned is this normal? Because it was soooo red and large area -Her response was we just ripped tape off with an attitude. Even though it was a huge area burning on fire and red area wayyyyy bigger then where tape was. I was still so nauseous and hurting and her response was I'll tell the doctor IF I pass by her- no urgency, no let me find the doctor.... as I'm bawling 2 hours straight at one point falling to the ground holding my stomach crying and about more 45 mins went by. Not once empathized whatsoever. I mention to the doctor I wanted the other nurse Lisa who was great to help me when they added toradol and also with the discharge papers. The doctor was great and felt so bad seeing me in that pain when we couldn't figure out what was going on since appendix looked fine. At end the doctor said just sit on the bed and wait for ride cause I was still bawling crying holding my stomach. And not long after the doctor walked away, the nurse Millie came in there and said you need to get out of here... LIKE WHAT?!?? As I'm crying, I mentioned that I'm waiting for my ride which was going to be there in 5 mins. Her response was you need to get out you're not waiting in here, you're discharged. There wasn't a SINGLE patient waiting or there. Totally understand maybe if they were busy, needing the bed but nope. It was a ghost town. #methodistMcKinneyhospital .... MILLIE SHOULD NOT BE A NURSE IF SHE CANT HAVE AN OUNCE OF EMPATHY OR RESPECT. I hope no one has to experience a medical issue with this woman. read more

Level of care was fine - except for being asked to come in an extra 90 minutes the morning of the surgery and then waiting over three hours for the simple surgery to begin. BUT I don't appreciate a threatening from the billing office letter several weeks after the surgery stating I have an outstanding balance and I must pay immediately or I will face further collection activity. I NEVER received a bill after surgery and I figured the amount they said I owed (and that I paid) at registration zeroed everything out. I sure didn't expect to over 50% of what I had already paid. Who figures out the estimate so badly?? When I called the billing office for an explanation their system put me on hold for about 5 seconds before hanging up on me. read more

I went in at about 11:30pm and was treated in such a dismissive way it made me shut down. I just wanted to get out of there. Granted it was late but, I went in for chest pains they hooked me to an EKG seen abnormalities and told me I was good. No more test even though my BP was elevated. Dr Patel didn't even seem like she wanted to be in the same room as me. At that point I just wanted them to discharge me. Hospitals are there to help no matter the time. Methodist McKinney Hospital made me feel depressed, unwanted and frankly a waste of space. I'm going to Baylor tomorrow. And the craziest part the American medical system treats Vets like this everyday. So I want to thank you personally MMH for not changing that narrative. read more

We arrived at 5:30 AM last Thursday morning and the admittance was fast and simple. The admittance receptionist directed us to the surgery waiting room and everything was done on time. I was there to have arthroscopic surgery on my ankle and Dr. Desai and his staff were on it. I was scheduled at 7:30 and surgery began at 7:45. Madison and the other nurses were rock stars. This morning, I woke up relieved because I thought it was going to be in a lot of pain but so far, I'm feeling great. I definitely made the right decision in choosing this doctor and hospital network. read more

I understand that he and the staff may be tired from working longer hours due to the storm but that doesn't excuse his poor demeanor and insulting comments. Went to the emergency room news years morning at about 4am. Severe headache, body aches , and chest congestion. Couldn't sleep for several days due to coughing. While there, blood pressure was measured at 196 over 103 !!!!. No I V given, no blood drawn, no xrays, no tests of any kind taken. The doctor asked about previous medication in My Chart and gave those. I passed out on the kitchen floor Thursday afternoon, hitting my head, bruising my hands, knees and left hip. Doctor seemed fixated on the fact that I have prostate cancer and recommended that I see my urologist in a week. NOT the appropriate response for my visit. I couldn't believe I was allowed to leave the ER with dangerously high blood pressure. I am a veteran and the VA will pay for this visit but an overall waste of my time and taxpayer dollars. I am still sick and will be seeing a doctor today to figure out what is wrong with. read more

RATING: ZERO STARZ!!! STAFF. IS. HORRIBLE!!!!! I went to this ER because it was the closest place to where I live because I was in excruciating pain. When I got there no one else was in there, however from the time I walked in until I was kicked out of the ER, that's how it felt because the nurse was rushing me to the car, NO WHEELCHAIR and I'm STILL IN PAIN!! The nurse that handled me was rough, unprofessional, rude, and sarcastic when speaking to me. I sincerely believe the nurse thought I was faking it and I also believe it was the color of my skin. At some point while I'm waiting to be seen, I guess they get tired of hearing me moaning in pain, she tells me to "BE QUIET!! Even after my labs come back clean, she takes her dear sweet time getting me something for pain. If I thought I could make it, I would have driven the extra 10 minutes to the next place. read more

First and foremost - this place deserves 10 out of 5 stars. I would also like to state that I fully expect to wait in ER's, regardless of why I am there, it's just a timely process. Medical Center McKinney made a point to move with efficiency while maintaining attention to all of their patents. Regardless of what past reviews may say explaining negative experiences here, they clearly must have read, listened, and improved. This was my first time at this location for an emergency surgery to get my appendix removed. I ended up getting a laparoscopic appendectomy. They couldn't get me in the first night I arrived but insured I was comfy during my stay and that my cyst didn't rupture overnight, then performed surgery first thing the following morning and I was gone before noon. I am in and out of hospitals much more than the average girl in their early 20's due to undiagnosed tonic clonic seizures, and I have never had such a seamless experience at a hospital from start to finish. From cleanliness in the building, to the kindness, consideration, and obvious knowledge their staff possessed, I was genuinely impressed. Every single staff member I interacted with throughout my 24 hours there made me feel comforted and informed me every step of the way to ensure I knew what to expect out of my visit. They also made a point to ensure that my seizure disorder was not ignored during my visit. I would highly recommend this place, as they kept me healthy and as happy as I could be with an impromptu ER visit. Thank you Medical Center McKinney! Just as my other terrible hospital experiences will never be forgotten, neither will this extremely amazing one. Yes, I am using the word amazing to refer to a hospital stay. Y'all have restored my faith in the level of attention patients receive in the ER, regardless of how "minor" the issue may be. I cannot remember the names of everyone I interacted with, and I apologize to those not mentioned, but here are just a few of the excellent people that showed a genuine desire to help: -The nurses Lindsey, Lindsay, and Sabrina -The front desk members that assist with paperwork and administrative functions (I can't remember one ladies name that was really awesome but I believe her last name was Bolden, she helped address financial questions pertaining to insurance) -The pre-op nurse -Dr. Duffy (surgeon) -The anesthesiologist (do not remember his name unfortunately, very kind and helpful) -So many more great team members that are not named here that made a big contribution. Not a good experience. My son and I were in a car accident today. We decided it would be a good idea to get an evaluation after someone ran into us at a four-way stop at 50mph. Parked on the east side of the hospital bldg b/c the south side was all reserved for physicians. No signs directing us anywhere, especially to the west side of the list where the entrance was. We walk in and the lady at the desk greets us. After explaining that we were in a car accident, she says there is no way to tell us any sort of estimate as to how long the wait will be. No guess, no nothing, no sorry to hear you were in a car accident. Meanwhile, another lady is standing behind her, listening in with a look on her face that I couldn't comprehend. I was close to filling out paperwork and decided this didn't feel right. I went across the street to Legacy ER and Urgent Care. They took care of us quickly and efficiently. Also, with a smile. My husband just got home today after having hip replacement surgery. Methodist hospital in McKinney is fantastic!! I can't say enough good about the friendly knowledgeable staff, from the pre-op department to the nurse that did his discharge paperwork. Thank you Dr Miller for being awesome!! Also, his nurse, Diana was amazing!! Sherri the physical therapist was outstanding, as well. He can't wait for his second replacement on the 28th. That is not something you usually hear about surgery. The hospital is small, which allows for more personalized care. I definitely recommend this hospital!! read more

Book an appt at this hospital if you want a fake appt. Was booked for Friday only to be called the day prior and told there wasn't an anesthesiologist. Rebooked for Tuesday and was called Monday and told there wasn't a radiologist but promised on the phone they FOR SURE would be able to do it Thursday. Woke up at 5:30am to be there for 6:30am Check-in. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight. Checked in, paid for the procedure and sent to the waiting room. Then was told IN THE WAITING ROOM that there was a scheduling mistake and they could do it later this afternoon but u would have to continue to not eat or drink and come back at 12:30pm. I have received PT services from one of their outpatient Physical Therapy centers and the billing department is a nightmare. Tried paying my bills online but the software doesn't accept payment online. Tried calling the billing department and it always goes to a voice mail and haven't heard back from anyone. The last option is to pay by mail which I am not comfortable doing for a few reasons! Seriously, paying healthcare bills shouldn't be this hard!! read more

I called to double check the week before surgery. talked to a very nice lady who said she would double check. she called me back the next day and assured me that Medicare would pay all but $308. now they are sending me bill for $1,600 saying insurance did not cover everything and it is my responsibility. Showed up to Methodist Mckinney and was turned away i mean that man at the front door of the emergency was not about to let us in in any way shape or form pass them sliding glass Doors.. when my fieance told him that i just had surgery here yesterday and my blood pressure now was 158/117 and heart rate was like 102 HE DID NOT CARE and DID NOT LET US pass them front sliding doors,, he came to the car to tell me to GO SOMEWHERE ELSE that there was nothing that they can do for me here......... like really this is a hospital........... with that BLOOD PRESSURE cant you just have assed me make sure im not going to STROKE OUT ON THE WAY SOMEWHERE ELSE......I was told to come here by my surgeon office THAT MAN SAID NO WE WONT SEE YOU HERE .. i mean he came all the way to the parking lot to tell me that ... and thats sad you mean to tell me I HAD SURGERY AT A HOSPITAL THAT DONT MONITOR BLOOD PRESSURES ON PEOPLE.. BEWARE - I went for Calcium Score which was $85 paid on the day! A few weeks later I get a bill for $36 which I ignored as I paid in full on the day! Another few weeks go by and I get a phone call to say if I don't pay the outstanding $36 they were going to hand me over! I panicked because of the threat of being handed over and paid over the phone. A few days later I called back to ask why I had to pay $36 as the fee was $85 payable on the day. The accounts person said "Oh sorry our bad" and they would refund me my money - that was 1 September - today is 20 November and I STILL have not gotten a refund. I rang today and spoke to the accounts person who confirmed that a refund was never issued and the finance company that called and threatened me never processed a refund nor are they able to! She said she would issue a refund today.... If you "owe" (or in my case don't owe ) them money they hound and threaten legal action but if they owe you money it's crickets! It's only $36 but that is NOT not the point! read more

Have had 3 surgeries here, two but Dr. Charles Toulson and a rotator cuff repair by his partner, Dr. Jon Thompson. This hospital is amazing! It's first rate all the way for orthopedic surgeries. The surgeries are done with the best and newest equipment. This time I had the robotic assisted arm for the Mako knee replacement. I spent the following 3 days in the hospital with some of the best nurses anyone could ask for. This is a very small hospital, like a "boutique" hospital. I believe they only have something like 21 beds. But that said, you're literally a star when it comes to taking care of you. I might also add, the food is also quite yummy! This isn't a typical hospital with a full on ER. Or at least that's my impression! If you have minor issues I'd probably consider their ER. If I was having chest pains I'd definitely go somewhere else. Most of the patients I saw in the pre-op were all there for orthopedic surgeries of one sort or another. I see tho that some other procedures are also done there..... I can only relate from my own experience what I've encountered these past 3 surgeries. I had a choice of hospitals to have this latest surgery and definitely only wanted to be at this hospital. The care and attention I received was over the top and I highly recommend it! read more

I went to the ER after enduring a UTI that would not go away. I tried home remedies and lots of cranberry juice, but nothing seemed to make it subside. I had never been to Methodist McKinney but the intake staff seemed very nice. I thought they were quick and efficient as opposed to Baylor McKinney, where it takes a year to get your urine sample back. While I was waiting for a room, they had me conduct the urine sample and they started testing before I went into my room. By the time I was settled, the doctor told me I tested positive for E Coli and that it wasn't usual in a person who had a UTI or kidney infection. I had bacteria, which was high in content and indicated that it had turned into a kidney infection. They were prompt and actually gave me fluids due to dehydration and gave me a dose of antibiotics in the hospital. I was discharged quickly and the doctor explained everything throughly. I like this hospital better than any I've been to in McKinney and that's why I am rating them highly. read more

This was my first visit to this hospital. At first site, I would have just driven by it thinking it was some other type of business. My son had a serious football injury that required us to move quickly because of his pain level. When we entered, registration waved us over with enthusiasm and smiles. We were treated and greeted like VIP. Everything was thoroughly explained in full detail. Almost felt like we were checking into a hotel. No complaints here just bring a coat because it got kinda chilly after awhile. read more

About Dr. G Gibson ED. I went to the ED because I couldn't get my blood pressure lower and my head was hurting really bad. My blood pressure was still high when I got to the ED. The ED nurse Jeff RN was very unprofessional. He took all of my personal information standing between the door and hall way & talking to someone else at the same time. I am not sure if the doctor was having a bad day but Dr. Gibson was very rude. He was asking assessment questions and was short when I answered them. We argued at the bedside. At one point, I couldn't think. I thought I had a stroke. I was so scared. I will never go there again. I plan to file a formal complaint Monday morning. read more

Very Disappointed with Methodist McKinney Hospital. We have been here since last night 12am and still waiting to go in for my wife's surgery it's been more then 12 hours. She hasn't eaten or drank anything for almost 18 hours now and they're coming up with excuses after excuses. A Hospital this size has only 2 surgeons doesn't make any sense. We came to Methodist Mckinney for surgery, and left with MRSA Staph Infection in the way in the bone. Three surgeries, and thousands of dollars later the foot is worse of than before the original surgery. The Methodist Hospital president just responded with a statement the pretty much said "go pound sand"! Beware of this MRSA Infection spreading facility. It may be new, but Hospital MRSA Staph Infection does not care about new. They obviously do not have proper procedures in place to prepare for a surgery. I have had several surgeries at this hospital and several MRIs and it will always be my hospital of choice. The day after my last surgery I started running a high fever and turning bright red everywhere. Went straight to the ER and they were amazing. Fast, friendly, helpful, understanding! They ruled out every possible bad thing that can happen after surgery-from blood clots to infection-and determined it was a bad allergic reaction to medication. Gave me meds to counter the reaction and watched me til I was better. I will never go anywhere else! This hospital is top notch! Fabulous doctors, nurses and staff. A family member went to urgent care on a weekend morning for a suspected UTI, but was told if the discomfort persisted to go to the ER because it could be in the kidneys and turn serious. A day or two later she went to Methodist, in pretty severe pain, dehydrated despite drinking over 100 oz of water, and overall malaise. Despite being an ER, she was reprimanded for even showing up at all and told by the doctor they were not a urology hospital and to not come back if this happened again. He did some tests and gave her an IV to address the dehydration, determined she had a kidney stone, and sent her on her way. She left with a prescription for nausea medication but never tried to address her pain, gave her no referral and no follow up instructions for how to handle her condition in the meantime. She didn't even really want pain medication (not that they asked), but wanted to know what to do to help it pass as it was her first and she was very scared. She has since received a certified letter determining that the lack of referral was, in fact, an oversight by the doctor, but otherwise he provided standard of care. Cool, cool. It's not like kidney stones aren't known to cause pain worse than childbirth or anything. Or that there are things you can do to help pass it. Or what to look for if it gets stuck. But nah, tell someone they have a kidney stone, get out, and never come back is normal behavior. Got it. They also didn't give her her paperwork confirming the stone to give a urologist and she had to make a special trip back. Also, to this day, they continue to send her bills for a denied service, despite her having 2 types of insurance that cover 100% of her medical care. They also keep sending the primary bill to her secondary insurance and the bill to her secondary insurance to her primary. Big Oof. read more

I gave this facility 5 stars because from beginning to my being discharged it was a caring feeling for my health. I must say it was clean and well organized to help the patient load get the care they needed. Great facility with excellent staff specially all the nurses and PAs who were most helpful before during and after my surgery. Special thanks to Dr. Alan London who I met just few days before the surgery and felt comfortable immediately after my first visit with him. My operation was at 10 am but had to wait till 1 pm because of a patient that needed extra time , at first I was upset but I knew because I was so hungry haven't had nothing from the night before but one of the nurses made me feel really good after she explained it to me and I sincerely apologize to her for my being upset. I think I have spoken to a thoughtless, extremely rude and uncaring nurse that phoned from Methodist Hospital Mckinney to give me preop instructions and retrieve my confidential, personal medical history ... Nurse Christy really needs to take a deep breath and pray before she phones patients that will be undergoing surgery at the Methodist hospital. She was very uncaring, rude, dismissive, arrogant and horrible to speak with. This may not be the way Nurse Christy is all the time or with all patients, but if she is, she needs a class in relations and compassion. read more

I went in tuesday May 9th for a left THR then exactly 3 weeks later did the same thing on the right hip. Both times i was in the hospital till thursday around noon. I can't say enough good things about this facility. My 2 nurses Robin and Lou were excellent i only had to use the call button once, very professional yet VERY empathetic. Everyone i came in contact wwith were all stars, Kim who took care of my dietary needs seemed as if she must have came in from a 5 star restaurant. John my physical therapist was great and knew exactly how far to push me each day. I wish i could list every individual that made my stay without question the very best hospitalization i have ever had, ( 5 major surgeries that required over night stays). I would without any hesitation recomend Methodist McKinney hospital to anyone needing surgical hospitalization hospitalization. read more

Once again, billing issues. After some recent lab tests by my husband and an er visit by one son, Methodist McKinney has once again amazed me by their gross incompetence. They attempted to overbill for both the ER physicians and the visit. It wasn't until I said that I was staring at my EOB that they said oh, that's right you do have insurance that covered the whole visit. So really? Where on earth did they come up with the extra two and three hundred dollar charges? If I had paid, would they have ever offered a refund or been honest - I don't think so!
