Another thing you should know before traveling, is that the station is actually 1.5 miles away from downtown Dyer, and the trains are regularly late. Lastly, if your train is delayed, there's a Subway and a sessional ice cream shop right next to the station.

The platform does require going up a lot of stairs so be prepared for that little jog. There is an old elevator that you could use but I can't guarantee if it always works or isn't dirty. Platform signs and announcements are clear and easy to understand. And from there you just hop on your correct train, show the conductor your ticket and enjoy the ride!

The place is super welcoming for rail fans and accommodating with no employee hassles which was cool, because I get hassled a lot by rail employees. The whole area is a rail fans paradise with lots of public access to so much action which was just awesome for my visit. This is the station for rail fans that want non stop action that will not let you down, two thumbs up here.

I have a meeting in the Loop today so I'm headed to the city on the express train which has very few stops. Not all of the trains are express only the ones during rush hour. You can purchase a monthly pass or round trip ticket. Since I do most of my work from home, I buy tickets as needed. My tickets today total a little under $7.50 round trip. For a comfortable and relaxing ride, hit the rail to the Loop!

I am not making this bad review from frustration at a single or couple of experiences... it has been terrible and delayed for nearly all the rides I've taken in the last two years (and I take this train often). First, the WiFi rarely works even if it says it's connected and I go through the portal. Fine, so I try to use my cellular data, but due to the infrastructure in the areas we're passing, I'll lose cellular service all together. Next, there has been a string of excuses for severe schedule delays. One day it's because of bad radio signals, another day it's because another train has to pass so we need to wait over an hour before going to the next stop. Just absolutely terrible. Not only has the service become less reliable and decreasing quality, they're also increasing prices (especially during high travel periods like holidays). There needs to be some SERIOUS improvements to these issues. I hope it happens sooner rather than later because at this pace, I'll be exploring other travel options that can be more consistent, reliable, and not resort to price gouging customers for an inferior service.

The park is relatively brand new looking on a 35 ft hill over looking six tracks in the observation area. There is wide ramps for disabled people to get up there with a covered roof and plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the action. There is a caboose and a crossing gate to build the rail theme of the park. Ample parking across the street for $1.25, park and when you leave deposit the money, even if it's one hour or five hours. You will see Amtrak trains, Metra trains and freight trains. One thing that I didn't like was the genius who put the info boards on the track side on the top of the railing which will limit the camera and video shots because they will block them, hey put them on the back side and get them off the viewing side. I actually moved to the Metra station which has better un obstructed views and more trackage in eye shot. Overall it's a nice idea for the train nerds but they obviously didn't consult train nerds who take pictures or videos which is what most of us do so the Metra station is the better option.

My review for this Metra station has nothing to do with the commuter aspect of it but for the nerd…read morerail aspect of it. If your a train nerd and want to know about this station, it's a station on the edge of a rail yard that had three types of rail service. There is the diesel Metra trains, the all electric Metra trains and freight trains all running in the area. There is public access from all around the station and platforms with the all electrics stopping across the street in its own little station. You never know what to expect train wise but the Metra trains you can count on and hopefully some freight trains will show up. The Metra police are super gung ho and stopped me with my camera to ask what I was doing and warn you that when you step from pubic space into rail space that you will be arrested on the spot, easy there Barney fife I'm on the side walk and I have no plans to crawl on the tracks because that's stupid and very dangerous. Overall it's it's a busy rail area around the station with a nice amount happening in the station area with plenty of public access so you will not get in any trouble, Barney fife is sneaky because he pounces on you from the fringes pretty quick, I watched him do it to another person while I was there.

Not NICTD! They just keep raising prices and delivering horrible service. Hr delays, trains having mechanical problems regularly. You have no idea how many times I'm almost late to work due to their delays. Unacceptable! And because they're a monopoly they dont care!
