The metro stop is located on the 4th floor if you want to strategically part there, or park on another floor and take the elevator to 4th. We had a few motivators since the 10 fwy is closed due to the fires, avoid that LA traffic and the cost of the Metro is cheaper than the parking at the LA Convention Center. The downside is some stinkiness and sketch characters. You will need a TAP card ($2) and each trip is $1.75/trip or $5/day cap or $18/week cap. It's definitely a good deal for someone who live in the area or travelers to get around without renting a car. We exited at the Pico Station and we were within walking distance of the LA Convention Center. It was pretty easy and convenient.

It's wasy to figure out what platform to get on, your regular machines to tap and add value on your card. Nice benches to sit on (normal ones for a change!) and relax till your next train. We didn't mind that we missed a train, enjoyed hanging out, admiring the view. Shady spots and you can see Michael Myer's house from the original "Halloween" movie from there! An extra bonus for horror fans!

I found myself at the Fillmore Gold Line Station as the meeting point for a FREE bus shuttle ride for a recent event, the "YEE: San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino". This was my first time here and was absolutely unaware of this station. Finally, I began using the Metro on a regular basis, so I was very much a virgin of the many stops. Although I simply parked here this time, would this introduction somehow lead me back for more!?: Sandwiched between Raymond Ave. and the 110 S. Arroyo Parkway, vehicle entrance was available on Raymond Ave. only. The closest main throughfare was Fair Oaks Ave. a mere two blocks away. Along Raymond Ave. was the onsite Lovebirds Café & Bakery for a drink coffee, pastry, or smoothie fix, across the street was Jones Coffee Roasters for caffeine fiends, and Pie Life Pizza for a heartier meal...just to name a few. Across the tracks along the 110 S. Arroyo Parkway was Gotta Java for more caffeine addicts, My Vegan for some healthy fare, and Sushi Ichi for raw fish...also just to name a few. When you returned, you did the exact reverse. But in the case of non-Metro users, you paid before you exited the structure. Easy-peasy! Parking (Varied; $12.00 All-Day this instance) - This was a five-story structure where Levels 1-3 were for public parking (240 spaces; $12.00 maximum) and Levels 4-5 were for the Metro (160 spaces; FREE). Conveniently, there was an electronic sign that showed how many Metro parking spots were available. Sadly, I left my TAP card at home and was stuck with being charged. I noticed a nearby pay lot that "quoted $5.00" but unsure for how long. And, it appeared there may've been other parking options in the area. But I basically said "eff it" and bit the bullet. Lesson learned for the next time... Atmosphere, décor, ambience - A tall spacious metal covered structure with viewpoints from every level and plenty of both natural and electric lighting guided you through. The station itself was an above-ground track that ran between the backside of businesses, had covered waiting areas on the platform, and was in very close proximity to a couple places for a quick drink or snack. There were no TVs (except for schedule monitors) nor background music (the whiz of the train was rather melodic). Attire - Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the Fillmore Gold Line Station with its relative proximity to a few places I frequented, as well as others I wouldn't mind trying. Its location was a healthy walking distance to the Huntington Memorial Hospital and other medical facilities, so this was an ideal spot for commuters who worked in the area. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $12.00; no tipping required). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 4.0 STARS

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Assoc (LAPhil) operates the HB venue. I didn't know some events are sponsored by the LAPhil, others are rented out to outside agencies and have different methods to purchase concert and transportation tickets. I tried to get a transportation ticket for Arcadia Park, but it was not on the list. I called the Box Office and was told Arcadia and Rowland Heights are only available for LAPhil events. I am writing this review so others who live in the Eastern part of LA County will know Pasadena is the best option (when Arcadia or Rowland Heights is not available). The cost was $12.45 for a round-way ticket and includes the price of parking at the Pasadena structure. You must park on Level 3 or 4, walk down to Ramona Street and the HB bus will be waiting at the time designated on your ticket (4:30, 5:30 or 6PM). The bus was clean, it took about 45 minutes to arrive. The bus dropped us off in Lot B, and will take you back to Pasadena 20 minutes after the show ends. It was a good experience, the price was a good deal! NOTE: You can take a chance and buy a ticket the day of the event at the bus stop, but if it is full, you will have to drive all the way to the HB. Save yourself a headache and buy in advance! Update... the bus broke down to the bowl , luckily we were on Cahuenga and walked down the block and trudged up the hill. We had a woman on the bus who was blind , hopefully they made arrangements for her to walk the 1/4 mile or so. Now my sister tells me last time the bus stopped 3 times due to issues but made it to the Bowl. Well I still enjoyed the ride.

They have benches, double-sided single platforms and kiosk for reloading as well as purchasing Metro TAP cards and tapping before you board (no need to for after). Additionally the outer part of Highland Park Station has some plants, trees and more seating, making it feel like apart of the neighborhood. It's true that if completely on feet it's a tiny bit of a stroll to the main street or the nearest connecting busses such as the LADOT Dash, 182, and others, but still not bad at all! I love popping over to Delicias Bakery & Some on Figueroa Street, venturing over to York BLVD for Wolfies, The Hermosillo, other Highland Park gems and exploring the area. All day parking (7AM - 9 PM) lot that is meter pay just across from the station.

It's a Metro Rapid line, so there are less stops for a somewhat quicker ride. The 780 would arrive on time and the driver was usually personable. Because this stop is a bus transit HUB, our group of passengers are the first on the bus - a definite advantage to strategically find a comfortable seat. The bus travels North up Fairfax Ave. and hooks a right on Hollywood blvd. Basically every morning and evening I'd get a little Hollywood / LA Tour. It passes the 10 Fwy, Canter's Deli, the Grove, TCL Chinese Theatre, Hollywood Highland Center, Pantages Theatre, The W., House Of Pies, Griffith Park, Los Feliz, Bigfoot's Lodge, Glendale Galleria, the Americana at Brand, The Oinkster (Eagle Rock), rides along the 210 Fwy, Paseo Pasadena.. To top it off it crosses the infamous Colorado 'Suicide' Street Bridge far East from Eagle rock going into Pasadena. It's a wonderful sight from the bus because its raised higher than other vehicles, so you can see a little beyond the railing giving you a beautiful view of what the San Gabriel Valley has to offer. Fair warning: there are moments where it gets ridiculously crowded on this bus. It's because it goes right through highly congested traffic arteries most LA natives know to avoid if they're going to drive themselves (Fairfax Ave, Hollywood Blvd, Vermont Blvd, Los Feliz Blvd and Colorado Blvd). It's a route a normal Angelino would NOT drive. But because you're not driving and you're the passenger, it truly is like a mini tour where you can take in the greater Los Angeles area without the hassle of being behind the wheel.

During high school I rode it allot although after that I stopped and got spoiled with driving so much all around LA, North side, east side and West Side, and really forgot about the Public Trans systems. The Buses are Clean and I felt Safe, not like back in the days... in the late 1990s.... Theirs plenty of space and connecting buses to get all around our Beautiful City we call home... I think we all Take For Granted the great things in front us, once in a while.

We took a little ride on the Metro from San Dimas to Glendora for lunch and a stroll through their…read moredowntown area. Being a weekday, there weren't a lot of other passengers either waiting at the station or riding in our car. This was our first journey on the rail A Line that now runs from Pomona to Long Beach. The Glendora station area is neat and, being only a few months old, all the ticket machines are working and in good order. I mention this as I've read reviews where other Metro riders have had issues with buying or reloading fare (TAP) cards at other stations. The passengers at this station enter and debark just south of the Glendora post office. From there, it's only a short walk east to Glendora Avenue and then north (two blocks?) to city hall and the downtown area full of shops and eating/drinking establishments. Feeling mildly apprehensive after having heard some of the horror stories about public rail systems, I'm happy to report that my wife and I rode comfortably in a clean car and were not disturbed by the few other people (three?) on the train. I've had others observe that sitting in the front car (nearest the driver) is preferable for those wishing to avoid some of the more "colorful" characters that sometimes frequent the rail systems. We took this advice as a preventative measure with positive results. We did have an exceptionally long wait for our return train with three trains pulling into Glendora heading toward Downtown L.A. by the time we boarded the next train back to San Dimas. Usually there are trains pulling into Glendora about every eight minutes or so, but there were some announcements about an elevator issue at Union Station (automated information boards were fairly accurate in keeping us updated on the delayed arrival time). Our wait was a little over 15-minutes. We enjoyed our inaugural journey and are considering other excursions to neighboring cities along the line. It's inexpensive enough to ride (regular fares $1.75 one way/seniors .75) and a great option if your destination is nearby the station and you don't mind a little additional walking.
