I just discovered The Butchery. What a revelation!…read more The shop is clean and attractive, with a very long display of many dozens of cuts of meat, many marinated. I bought a marinated flank steak that was amazing on the BBQ tonight. They also carry some great sauces, including my favourite Rufus and Teague Blazing Hot sauce. You can buy frozen pies from The Big Apple, which are the best pies around. They have a burger shack inside....sadly I was too early. Some other time. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the boss a really good man. This was a great discovery and I will happily drive the 25 km to get there. Very highly recommended.

Don't come here hungry! Wow!…read moreThis popped up when I plugged in 'butcher' near me. 15 min away. My first visit was a Sat. So busy! And for good reason. I was blown away by all the meat, the prepared goods. Burger counter. Some seating. Freezer choices. Some dried goods, bread. I got away with Chorizo, some lean ground beef and some beautiful olive oil. Is this place cheap? No! But, I pay for quality without batting an eye. Especially foodie stuff. Next round was a Tuesday aft. Ahhh. Better. I could see everything, not so packed. It was just after a long weekend so some things were sold out but I grabbed more lean beef, a chicken parm portion, a beef Jamaican patty and a stuffed potato. All were good! The chicken portion from the fresh cabinet was $11.50! More than my lb of ground beef! But it was a filling piece and fed me x 2. I love this place.

What a great find! Apparently this deli has been around for over a decade, but I only recently…read morediscovered it while I was Googling "sandwiches in Kanata" when I was in Kanata and feeling for a sandwich ;) So it's a smallish Eastern European deli that sells deli meats, a few baked goods, and groceries. There's no signage to indicate they sell sandwiches, but reviews on Google said just ask the lady for "the sandwich" which is what I did. I got 2, one for my husband and one for myself. The sandwich comes with whatever meats they have at hand, whatever cheese they have at hand, lettuce, pickles, mustard and mayo. I asked the lady to hold the mayo and she did. The Sandwich is $6.50, which is a pretty good deal nowadays. The cheese was a delicious smoked Swiss and the meats were a salami and 2-3 different types of ham. It was delicious! The bread was a bit harder and chewier than my preference, but it was still good. They had some exotic Fanta and Schweppes drinks that I had never seen before. They also had lots of packaged (shelf-stable) cookies and candies from Eastern Europe. Service was friendly and efficient. I would definitely return for another sandwich if I was in the area and craving a sandwich. Lots of free parking in the Commons of Kanata Lakes, the plaza where this deli is located.

However, their staff were very friendly and welcoming. The Long Version: This review is for their meat pies. I love Lebanese meat pies. Ever since my first meat pie at Aladdin's so many moons ago, I became addicted. I also introduced them to my husband and my entire family and they all love them too. So it might come as no surprise that my mission is to try all the places that sell Lebanese meat pies in Ottawa. So when I found Lebanese Food Centre and Bakery on Google Maps, I made a note to check them out when I was next in the neighbourhood. I got 2 meat pies ($3.50 each). I ate one right away in the car, lol, and brought the other one home for my husband. I found the meat pie ok. These ones didn't have that smokey flavour that I love. And I feel it could have benefited from some spice. I did like that the dough wasn't too thick or fluffy. It was thin and slightly crispy on the outside. The amount of meat was good but I feel I would have liked more tomatoey tang. It's just personal preference but I like my Lebanese meat pies a bit spicy, tangy from the tomatoes with a touch of smokey flavour (I'm guessing from smoked paprika) and the one here didn't have those elements. The man serving me was very friendly and welcoming and I appreciated that. They are a small grocery store but also have fresh meats, and prepared foods. They sell rotisserie chicken, grilled chicken and skewered meats. They have a charcoal grill. And they have some sweets too. I saw Kunafe and Shaabiyat. I would return to try their desserts and maybe a shish tawook wrap or something else from their grill. They have a few picnic tables out front to eat at. They are located in a small plaza. Free parking available in the plaza parking lot. Review #200 (2025)

This was one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've had…read more I purchased a package of frozen rice cakes (tteok) from this store some time ago. Since it was a frozen product, I only used part of it and later discovered mold on the remaining rice cakes. I took photos of the mold and brought the issue to the store's attention. Instead of receiving an apology, I was immediately questioned and asked for proof. After looking at the photos, The employee at the customer service desk told me to go back and bring the product from the freezer section so they could identify it and determine the refund amount. I left my shopping cart and went to find the product as requested. When I returned, I was suddenly told that I also needed to provide proof of purchase from my bank transaction history. This was never mentioned before. However, this was not a purchase I had made the day before. It had been some time, and I could not reasonably be expected to remember the exact date of purchase and search through my banking records on the spot. If that information was required, why wasn't I told at the beginning instead of being sent on a pointless trip across the store? What makes this even more frustrating is that I had stopped by the store shortly before picking up my child from daycare. I was in the middle of a large shopping trip and was about to pay for a cart full of groceries when I brought up the issue. Because of the back-and-forth, the poor communication, and the time wasted, I ended up running late for daycare pickup. Not once did anyone apologize for selling a moldy product. Not once did anyone acknowledge the inconvenience caused. Instead, I felt like I was being treated as if I needed to prove I wasn't lying. The amount of money involved was small, but the way this was handled was unacceptable. The complete lack of customer service, accountability, and respect for my time was shocking. I was so upset that I abandoned my shopping and walked out without purchasing anything. I would strongly encourage customers to carefully inspect packaged produce and frozen foods before purchasing. Based on this experience, I will never return to this store, and I would strongly advise others to shop elsewhere. Not worth it

My significant other is especially good at steering me away from the back of the store so that I don't get caught buying another gadget! They don't always carry the same items; a few years ago, they had stoneware loaf pans at a really excellent price - about $7.00 each. I had bought one through the Pampered Chef (which I love and still use), but I would have bought another one here (at that price!) so that I could have made 2 loaves at once. The best way to shop here is to have a list and stick to it. Since the local newspapers are no longer being published, the flyers are not getting distributed like they used to either, so it's more difficult to know what's on sale there. The Long Version: This T&T Supermarket location is in Hazeldean Mall in Kanata. It's where the Laura's Your Independent Grocer used to be. It just opened at the end of October 2024. We went the beginning of November 2024 so it was still brand spanking new. I took my parents here to check it out and see how it compares with the other location on Hunt Club. Our consensus was this Kanata location is smaller with less selection than the original location. We were happy to visit and see what it's all about, but since the Hunt Club location is closer to us, we'll continue to go to that location instead. The bakery section at this Kanata location is much smaller, as is the prepared foods section. I also noticed that they use sesame seeds in a lot more of their sushi than the Hunt Club location. As someone who can't eat sesame seeds and can rarely buy prepackaged sushi, this made me sad. They have dim sum and Chinese BBQ and also an area to eat the food you purchase. It's good court style seating. I did notice their impressive selection of imported Lay's chips. Their selection was comparable to the other location in this regard. I doubt I will return unless I'm already in the area for another reason because it's far from my home and I rather go to the Hunt Club location, but I think it's great for Kanata residents. And it's breathing some much needed life into Hazeldean Mall. Lots of free parking in the mall parking lot. (200)
