Love this cafe just by the Metro station and have the best coffee i have had in Sydney! This was right across my hotel Sheraton.. so cozy and cool, the customer service was great! You go order on pickup side whether or not you are eating in or taking away. Just let them know when it comes to coffee/baked goods! Also banana bread in australia is served warm and butter on the side which i found to be cool

Came to Sydney for a holiday and went to Metro St.James for a morning coffee, then decided to eat in and I was not disappointed. Absolutely amazing service and the food was set out beautifully. Great location in the park and good value for money. I would recommend this to anyone travelling to Sydney

Great little outdoor spot for lunch in the centre of Sydney, particularly as it's overlooking Hyde Park, rather than a busy city street. There's also plenty of shade, that helps on a warm summer day. I particularly liked the fact that most of the lunch options started with different salads, and then you pay extra to add "protein". This means there's a lot of variety, including for vegetarians and vegans - would definitely recommend for visiting with your vegetarian friends! I ordered the Rice Noodle Salad, which was very tasty, and decent value at $14. Loved the sauce and roasted mushrooms with it. It was quite light, but just big enough. I noticed there are some previous complaints about service, but this should no longer be the case, as you now order at the bar. My meal then took about 10 minutes to arrive. I noticed they had a great drinks menu, although I was just sticking to the self-service water. In particular, the jugs (including jugs of Pimms) are discounted from $30 to $17 during happy hour! Will have to return one evening for that!

Great tasting burger, filled to the max. Only drama was no napkins at tables.

Burger was spot on, just the right size. No napkins at the tables though. Service was fast and friendly.

One of the few outdoor terraces in sydney!

Metro St James has a really good concept going on: it's an outdoor pub. I've come here many times for after work drinks in summer, and it really is the perfect place on a hot summer night. I recommend you have a pastis, a French liqueur you can only get in a few places in Sydney. Their pizzas and French fries are very satisfying as well, and go well with these after work drinks. The place is good for groups, too. This time I came for coffee. Today is a sunny winter day and it's such a pleasure to be sitting outside enjoying a cup of coffee on a bug, comfortable chair. The service is not the best but not the worst either. And it's a place like no other in Sydney!

Landed in Australia in an hour or so, walked to this place because it looked super cute. I ordered the ham and cheese sandwich; my husband ordered the chicken wrap. I also got an iced coffee, and watermelon juice. Everything was amazing !!! We are staying here for 5 more days and we will for sure come back here again before we go back.

    Big healthy breakfast.

Fast and friendly service. Great fresh food. Very nice place to sit a while on the edge of the park and above St James Station.

Located in the popular "The Rocks" tourist area, it is full of charm and staffed by the friendliest folks you'll meet in Sydney. You felt happy just walking by the place. It was full of energy and bustle. We ate there twice, once for breakfast and, since we liked it so much, went back for dinner. Both were outstanding. Service was great. For dinner, I was just in the mood for a simple Burrata Salad and a Spaghetti Bolognaise. Now, the Rocks is not an Italian place, but their versions of these dishes were among the best I've ever had. My partner had the fish and chips, and raved about that too. If you can prepare such simple dishes so beautifully, I can imagine how good the other items on the menu must be. When we left, the woman I imagined to be an owner gave us a wonderful thank you and farewell. THIS is the way to run a small tourist spot!

Inside wasn't bad, the table was big and the chairs comfortable. We were waited on immediately. Servers fly around like dancers, it's actually pretty impressive. Our food arrived in no time. My wife had fish and chips and I had lamb and rosemary pie. She enjoyed her meal. Mine was different than I've had before. It was still ok but I wouldn't order it again. Others would probably like it, it just wasn't for me. We didn't have any dessert but as you walk in the door they have some wonderful looking pies and cakes. Do yourself a favor and save room for one of those. I messed up and didn't try something. This is actually a really cool restaurant that I would like to try again. I wouldn't let one dish that didn't hit my taste buds keep me away.

Our hotel's concierge suggested we look into breakfast eateries or a bakery at nearby Barangaroo wharf and pointed us two blocks down on Sussex Street, where we stumbled upon Wild Sage. Walking up to their patio dining area, we were greeted by a friendly young man who offered us a choice between patio and indoor seating and provided menus. We chose to dine outdoors to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather and cool yet comfortable temperature. After being seated, the young man, brought us glasses of chilled water while we waited for the server to take our morning beverage and breakfast orders. Our cheery server, Marissa, came by shortly after delivering another table's order and we were ready to order right away. FOOD & BEVERAGE: -Sticky Chai Tea: I requested the chai tea as its blend of natural spices with soy milk appealed to me on this slightly chilly morning. As I poured the steamy steeping hot chai tea through the strainer into the glass, its full aromas wafted towards me as I "aerated" or pulled the tea. $8.50 AUD -Proscuitto Toastie: Triple cheese (Gruyere, mozzarella, & scamorza), sliced proscuitto, truffle bechamel, & pickles on soy linseedsourdough. Although we're slightly lactose-intolerant, my husband decided to order this "upscale" ham and cheese sandwich. It was so rich in flavors and textures that he could only eat half the portion even though he was tempted to finish both sandwich halves. Notably, the toasted sourdough's crisp, crunchy, exterior and warm chewy interior tasted of caramelization and nuttiness. Its tangy sourness offered a savory balance to the creamy, slightly nutty and sweet scamorza and mozzarella cheeses. The creamy cheeses balanced the savory saltiness from the proscuitto and Gruyere. $24 AUD -Truffle Mushroom Toast: I selected this open faced toasted sourdough sandwich which was generously topped with roasted mixed mushrooms, confit garlic and truffle butter, thyme, goat cheese, crispy leeks, and poached eggs. The roasted mixed mushrooms flavors were enhanced "just right" with the truffle butter without being overpowered. This vegetarian sandwich was protein-packed, filling, and very flavorful. $26 AUD We took our time over breakfast while discussing our Sydney exploration plans at this clean, bright, and friendly cafe. It's too bad we didn't have more time in Sydney to return for more but, isn't that the dilemma while traveling? "Too many restaurants, too little time."

And I should have skipped the whipped cream on it if I read the menu closely. But the iced drink definitely helped with the summer heat!

This was the most highly rated restaurant in Surry Hills, and it exceeded all expectations. I cannot say enough great things about the duck slow cooked in plum sauce. It was perfectly seasoned with a bright, sweet plum glaze-- the meat was so tender that it fell off the bone. This was hands down the most delicious duck dish I have ever eaten. We enjoyed a handful of their appetizers (oyster shooters, mini pancakes with crème fresh, etc), all of which were incredible. Very grateful to our waiter for being so helpful with menu suggestions and accommodating one of the guests with a more complicated food palette. The ambience inside was intimate with low warm lightly. The music was classy and not too loud. Such a beautiful and memorable space.
