Ordered a pink Arena Tech suit from them. Received a purple leopard skin tech suit of the same style, but was cheaper. When I said the blue one with a similar pattern to the one we ordered would be acceptable, but we needed it quickly, I was told to order a new one, and they would refund me when they received the other one back. Don't do it!!!! Stay away!!!! Ordered a tech suit for my daughter, got order confirmation, then got an e-mail a few days later saying the order was cancelled because they don't have it. When I called, they said "oops, our inventory was wrong... sorry". Oops, you confirmed my order, your internal problems shouldn't be mine, do what is right for the customer! The rep offered me a 40% discount if I bought something else from them right away, but that is useless since they don't have the product I wanted. When another rep tried to offer me a similar tech suit in a different size, I realized they were inept. Anyone who deals in tech suits knows only one size fits a particular swimmer the right way. If they actually wanted to live up to their obligation to the customer, they could find the tech suit they promised me somewhere. It would just take a little effort. But they clearly don't think my business is worth the effort... and if they don't value customers then you don't want to do business with them. I will happily update this to a positive review if they change their mind about living up to their commitments, but it doesn't appear I'll have to do that. The store has a large selection of swimsuits, goggles, and related attire and accessories. I can't speak to their custom orders, I'm not a competitive swimmer, just an average person who needed footwear for an upcoming tropical vacation. I buy lots of stuff online, but when it comes to clothing and shoes, I prefer to try it on first. This store is close to my home, so it was easy to go in person and find something that fit properly. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SHOP. They first sent the wrong tech suit color knowing that the one they listed on the web site was wrong. Then after I returned the suit (now they have it for 2 weeks now), they still did not issue a refund even after I called then a week ago. When I called a week ago, I asked them to call m back with a status when it is refunded. They did not call me. Now they say that their refund person is on vacation. They will not give me the number to the person who issues the refund and he is the manager. Called Metro, spoke to Michele and discussed her recommendations for in stock options and if we could get suit next day (from NJ to Arizona). We ordered 5 tech suits for our high school team 1 week before their championship meet. Paid for express shipping, but received no updates or communication regarding the status of the order. I emailed customer service on the 3rd day and received no response. On the 4th day, after repeated calls I finally spoke to a rep who promised a call back in 10 minutes. I received no call back or update. On the morning of day 5, I spoke to a rep who assured me that my order was being shipped as we spoke and would be to me before our meet. He apologized for the delay and promised a refund of the express shipping charges. Shortly before 5pm, I received an email stating that the order had been cancelled. could not get a service rep on the phone and they have refused to return phone calls or emails. Wish I had read the reviews before I purchased through this company! The Good: I originally encountered this company at a swim meet in Attleboro, MA, and the guy manning the booth was friendly, willing to bargain, and very nice. Lots of parents bought stuff that day, and we all took the card and website home with us, based on the gregarious customer service provided at that meet. The Bad: I decided to order customized flag caps through this company and eventually after 3 months of back and forth I spoke with the owner, Mr. Wong, who was terse but helpful. He managed to get me the caps that I paid for. Eventually. The Ugly: It took more than three months and two orders of customized caps to get what I originally ordered and paid for. I received written confirmation of my order and the proper spelling of my customization right away. But the first round of caps were delivered with randomly spelled words. Their shipping and order systems are not integrated and they consistently misspell names; on my final shipping air-bill my name was STILL spelled wrong even though that was the problem with the product in the first place. The "Customer Service Manager" John was NOT helpful and did not return phone calls as promised. The front line staff was very friendly and polite, if not helpful, but it was only when John was in a meeting and the owner got involved that I got some movement on my order. Conclusion: I would NOT order through their website again and I'm quite certain they need a lot of improvement in their logistics and customer service departments. 4 bathing caps don't need to take over 3 months. UPDATE to the review below. Yesterday (12/27/12) my order arrived. Ahead of schedule. With the 10% discount included. And yes, the correct products. The only bothersome thing about the process: when they sent me an email confirmation of the order, they said the package could be tracked on UPS and included a link to the UPS site where you could do the tracking. I clicked the link, entered my tracking number, and it was invalid. Tried several times. I emailed customer support. They finally told me to go to USPS, not UPS. Duh. Still, that's a small thing, and assuming they are on the ball, they will fix that. I stand by my 4 star rating. ----- I placed an order on Friday last week (12/21/12) for two pair of goggles. I placed my order via phone. I did not use the web site to place my order because I was unsure if the item I wanted was actually in stock (it's a discontinued item by Speedo but Metro claims to have plenty of stock). The woman I spoke to was helpful, spent a good amount of time with me answering questions, and she appeared to be a swimmer herself, or at least knowledgeable about the product I was asking about. She took my order professionally, and told me it would not ship out on Friday because we had missed the pick up time, so it would ship Monday and take 5-7 business days. So I would likely not get it till after New Year's (which is ok with me). I also asked if she would extend a 10% discount to my order since when I called the week earlier, there was a promotion. I called to try to do the same thing, but the agent I spoke with put me on hold for about 5 minutes, and I could not wait (I was at work and had to go to a meeting). Anyway, the agent the second time around said she would extend the 10%, pending her manager's review. So, at least she tried (or so she said). Since my experience is not yet complete, I will finish this post when I receive my order. I ordered a pair of pool sandals and a pair of briefs Metro online. A couple days after the order, I got an email saying that the sandals I had ordered were out of stock and that I wouldn't be getting them...even though they were in stock when I ordered which means I should have gotten them unless they just sold them to someone else for whatever reason. It just seems sketchy but I wasn't too annoyed. What's more annoying is that it's been over 7 full days and I still have received no tracking or shipping information on my pair of briefs that I ordered AND I LIVE IN NJ!! How can it possibly, even using standard shipping, take so long to deliver instate? This review was first published on July 24th. For some mysterious reason, it was no longer available on Yelp by today, August 1st. So I am taking the pain to paste it back in. Dishonest seller. Never order with them again. They don't have the size 22 suit I ordered in stock, and sent me a size 16, stuck into a worn box with a label saying size 22. When I called them the 1st time, the guys had me on the phone over 20 minutes, while he check and process, why is so hard to correct a simple mistake (unless you are trying to delay and hide something). Where can I start? As a head coach of a HS swim team I brought a lot of business to Metro this season and expected customer service to match. After an initial productive product design email volley I have very pleased. I purchased a NJ Swimming Jr Olympics sweatshirt and was told it would be delivered within 2 weeks. Metro Swim Shop sold the same exact sweatshirt that I ordered at the next Jr Olympics session the following weekend and put my order in the back ordered pile which will now take 8 weeks to be delivered. If you can't carry your items with you when you purchase them, be prepared for them to take months to arrive. Customer service is that absolute worst and just passes the buck by saying "I don't know. I won't ever buy anything from this shop and I really hope that no one has to go through what I went through. I ordered my swim parka on-line. The next day when I checked the order status, the web page indicated that the order has been canceled. I call the 866 number and girl who answered the phone was very unhelpful. She told me that her co-worker canceled the order but she had no idea why. She told me to call back the next day since she is out of the office and she can't help me that her name is Lisa. I called back the next day and Lisa is still out of the office. Since I needed my order sooner then later, I requested that they would keep it cancel and I will order it from somewhere else. Jennifer, whom I talked to assure me that nothing has been charge to my credit card. I taught I could leave this behind me. Three days later, I received a phone message from Metro swim shop that my order would be arrive in two days. I was really upset and immediately call the customer service back. I spoke with another lady who said the system still show that my order has been cancel and she has no idea who called me five mins ago. Fast forward, a week later, I got the order in the mail. I called my credit card company and also found out that not only Metro swim shop charge $91.55 once but TWICE!!!! Terrible customer service. They sent the wrong suit. Then waited 4 days to order a new one. My daughter didn't have a team suit for her first meet. Even though they had plenty of time to fix the issue. When the right suit finally came they sent two. After three phone calls, numerous emails, and three boxes at my house now I have to package up the wrong suites and send them back. No compensation for all my time spent dealing with their mistakes. I ordered the four custom swim caps package from Metro as they are the only place I could find that can print my last name on a cap without having to order 50+ caps. I was told it would take about 4-6 weeks for them to be delivered. The caps were delivered about 6.5 weeks after I ordered, so no huge deal. I was surprised how good the quality was and I expect them to last awhile. My only complaint was there was not a lot of communication after I placed the order. I almost emailed them once it had been six weeks as I had heard nothing and wanted to know if everything was ok, but ended up getting a shipment confirmation shortly after. It would have been nice if they just sent a standard courtesy email to let me know they were finishing my order and getting ready to ship it, but no other complaints. read more

Today 11/14/16 I recieved another email telling me my order had been cancelled as the suits are not in stock. Really, are you kidding. The web site should indicate which items are in stock, back ordered or out of stock. Or better yet they should keep the website updated and remove items that they no longer have and can not get. While I've had successful web orders from them in prior years, this year they are a complete DISASTER. I placed a quite simple order in mid Nov - 2 suits, 2 sets of goggles. They shipped suits, no goggles and didn't call or email with any backorder. I called them, left msgs. No reply. Eventually reached "Rachel" who gave me a story of woe re a former employee making mistakes, and promised to send them out. No goggles. 5 more interactions via email and phone with supervisor "Chris" - who promises to send them out. We agree a slightly different goggle would be okay. Days pass - only 1 pair of goggles arrives. I call him again on 12/28 -he's a bit grumpy, and more tales of woe - although he sent me an email from "support@metroswimshop.com", he doesn't actually *read* the answers to emails in that box - so my confirmation to him on 12/19 was ignored. In the email, Chris offered to refund the goggle part of the order to make up for the inconvenience - which was a good gesture - but hasn't been done yet, that I can tell. They have gone way way downhill and need to badly revamp and re-manage their entire customer service and fulfillment organization. I hate leaving a bad review, but after spending HOURS of my time to spend $ with them, I think they have had plenty of chances. I had been a customer for several years, despite their outdated website that does not keep accurate inventory, because their prices were low. However, they have permanently lost my business because their customer service is the worst out there for swim supplies. In the past, they wouldn't send orders in a timely manner (so I never relied on purchasing a tech suit needed in a short amount of time) and I occasionally got the wrong items (ordered a swim suit, received a jammer) which took even longer since I had to send back before getting the correct merchandise. But the most recent egregious, and last, order was a joke. They sent me the wrong color backpack and didn't include a pair of goggles because they were sold out. I had to inquire as to why, no note included. The incorrect color backpack was because they discontinued the color I ordered so they just decided to substitute a different color. This took time for me to get the straight answer, from a very grouchy associate. So I had to do a second order, pay for it, then send the original items back and wait to get reimbursed--all because instead of calling me, they just decided to substitute. The 30 day return clock was ticking, not to my knowledge. The backpack they sent was taken to the embroiderer and I received it back in less than a week. Three days of my daughter using it, the backpack tore in red places so I contacted Metro Swim Shop on Day 33 and was told that there is a 30-day unaltered return policy. There was nothing they offered to do, so I told them that they've lost my business forever and they said ok. I am not ok with a product I paid for to last 3 days, unless it's food. SwimOutlet and Swim2000 has good sales prices and excellent customer service, as well as Arena and TYR. All 4 of these companies have overnighted things to me that didn't work out, and they all have sales that now top Metro. read more
