This place, aka Essen Urgent Care, is the worst. The ONLY good thing about it is its location--it's convenient! Maybe they'll have one doctor there. Or maybe the doctor is returning calls/relaying test results while patients wait to see the doctor. There are no nurses. No np's, no PA's. Only one or two med techs who check your vitals and administer Covid, flu, etc tests. If you come on a day that there is no doctor or other clinician, you're out of luck. I only go there for Covid, etc testing. That done, I've called for results but there is no one qualified to give you verbal results. The law says only a doc, nurse or other clinician can give you results. They can fax it to you but then again, only a clinician can do that. I've waited days for answers. They have a portal app but no one is at the other end to give you the text verification "code" and it's not automated! Once I came in for a urine culture. I knew I had an infection. I gave a sample and put it in a box in the wall where I was told to put it. Hours later I got a call asking me where I left the sample, and was told they couldn't find it. I told them it was right where the doctor told me to put it. Frustrating? yes Then they couldn't tell me the result because there was no clinician there to tell me. I called 4 times before I could get the result and let my doctor (Cornell) know. This time I had a Covid test, strep and flu and RSV tests. I was told they would call me in 2 days. At 330 pm on the 2nd day I called. Same problem. No one there to give me the results. They said a doctor would call me at 4 pm. But it was already 43O pm! They then said 530 pm. It's now 7:15 pm and I received no call. At least the person on the phone was professional and lovely, but I still don't have my test results. The above are only a few of the poor experiences I've had at Essen or UriCare or whatever name they call themselves yesterday or tomorrow. The heck with convenience. From now on I'm going to city MD where there are clinicians and much better care and service. If they can't get these simple tasks done right, just imagine how bad Essen's medical care could be. Since they have also expanded next door into primary care, I fear worse for those who Also go there for convenience. It's not worth it and it could very well be a disaster. read more

Zero stars. Whoever the "doctor" is that worked this morning at 9:30 should be banned from all medical practices. I was against taking the Covid medication and she insisted that she is the one with the license and I would not be the one to dictate what medication I should take. I requested Zithromax or amoxicillin but she kept reminding me that she was the one with the license. I believe she's a nurse practitioner and what she needs is a license on bedside manner. She was speaking to me by gesticulating with her fingers as if we were on the streets of riverdale. To note - before there was the Covid medication, all doctors were prescribing Zithromax. I had Covid last year and was prescribed Zithromax. All I wanted was to get medication in the hopes of getting better, not dealing with this arrogant nurse and her "accolades". This place is so weird. The doctor yelled at me asking why the 2 hour wait - then over compensated by putting fear in me. They couldn't get EKG right. It took another hour. These people are poorly paid and over worked. The technology is like a 70's ghetto clinic. They had one doctor on. They moved me to 4 different rooms in 4 hours. It's a really, really bad urgent care. I'd advise anyone to visit City MD on the Upper Westside and buy a home kit for Covid rather than spend the $40 here. My Covid test was misread and ruined my week off. Avoid this place with no Xray. ESSEN IS THE LOWEST OF THE LOW. The doctor recommended all of these additional procedures with another Essen care provider. This place clearly is about profits. How can an urgent care not have a working EKG or Xray machine. THIS IS A FACTORY for the vulnerable and not a responsible health care facility. Their operation is so fumbled and disconcerting. I doubt the assistants/front desk people have any medical training and are paid minimum wage. Please don't go here!!!!! read more

Apparently everything they say about this place is true. Went in for a free Covid test and got $100 bill from the lab. When I asked them about the fact that they said it was free, the person at the desk said "I wasn't the person who served you so I don't know, call the lab". Incompetent humans. Stay away. read more

A good man is hard to find, right ladies? A good vein can be hard to find too. But not for Constance, who sits at the front desk here. So I was thrilled when she offered to help out and give me my antibody test on two separate occasions when they were very busy. The first visit, two employees drew blood but unfortunately it wasn't from a vein! Constance gets it right the first time. She has years of experience as a Phlebotomist - yet they have her sitting behind a desk. This is why I'm only giving them 3 stars. read more

For one thing, my MINIMUM expectation of an urgent care facility is a sense of URGENCY, but you will NOT find one here. Beyond that, the decrepit doctor entered the exam room TWICE to ask me my name...and leave again because she was more than a little confused about - well - everything. All in all, I was there almost two hours and left solely with the prescription I asked for in this long, frustrating process. Worse still, I received a text message with a link asking me to tell them about my experience...and the link was broken. Of course, I didn't bother to mention EITHER a prior instance when they gave me COVID results and, as it turns out, they were for a different patient OR did I talk about the time it took the receptionist SO LONG to stop talking to her co-workerswhile I stood there in front of her waiting to be checked in that I just left. So, going forward, I am going to make the drive elsewhere because this place can only help to kill you rather than cure you...and, by the way, ONE star is GENEROUS! read more

The receptionists are unprofessional. And inconsiderate; they just ignored me and my daughter for 20 minutes without any patients and keep gossiping about other patients private matters. Only one doctor for everyone and one assistant for everyone. They argue with patients and make us wait longer. read more

I went for Covid testing and this place is like Covid Central. No social distancing and no order. I have not received my test results and it has been about 3 weeks. I dread going down there again since the new variant is around so I am trying to find a way to communicate with them. I had an urge to leave and did not listen to my gut. Stay away. read more

My daughter had picked up a huge wooden beam and When I went to grab it away from her, the thing ends up falling right on my foot. Immediately foot swells up, blue and yellow. I spend two hours at urgent care. They take xrays. They tell me it's a fracture but the doctor doesn't prescribe schedule 2 medications. He refers me to a pain clinic which tells me they don't treat pain using opiate based medicine. So then I'm sitting in my living room crying and drinking vodka while my 3 year old runs around clearly agitated (and for good reason). What kind of doctor doesn't prescribe pain medicine? read more

You would think a place with 'urgi' in the name would have a sense of, oh, I don't know, URGENCY about it? I needed to complete a physical for a new job. A simple procedure. I made an appointment online the day before for 8am. They called to confirm. On the day I arrived 10 minutes early to complete the paperwork. The front desk staff is excellent and has me ready to be seen within minutes. The problem? The doctor had not arrived. As I type this I'm still sitting in the little room, at 9:10am, waiting for the doctor to arrive. If I was here due to illness and not a basic physical, this 80 minutes wait would likely feel torturous. There are so many walk in clinics in the Bronx these days. I came here because you could schedule an appointment but clearly that doesn't mean anything to this establishment. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

This place keeps changing their name, I think this is the third time they've changed it. Their manager, Stan I believe, needs to go. I came in one day and was told by the front staff that I did not owe a copay. I had my visit and left. I was billed two weeks later for lab work, which was normal and I expected it. They didn't call with the results, I had to call them. I let that roll off my back, maybe they were busy. I came back only a few months later expecting my visit to be as easy as before. I had to pay a copay this time. My insurance never changed, my salary never changed, nothing changed, not even the companies system. Everything was the same but I was charged. So I enter my appointment, and the nurse did not understand my issue with my throat, I told her I work as an EMT, I was knowledgeable, and it was not strept throat. I questioned having mono. She insisted I had it wrong, even though my symptoms did not relate to strept throat. The doctor came in and told me it was nothing but post nasal drip. I insisted on lab work. He obliged. Two weeks passed, I get a bill for the visit, and for the lab work. Why did I get a bill for the visit? I just paid the copay. Why was I billed for the second visit, and not the first. I went back and forth with the people in charge of billing, as well as the manager, who could not give me an explanation as to why they're inconsistent with their billing. The staff that works in billing (outside the clinic) told me it was the clinics responsibility to process everything through the insurance. However, Stan told me it was the responsibility of the people in billing. Stop pointing fingers!! No one fixed my bill. On top of that, I patiently waited two weeks before calling for my blood work results, which was suppose to come 3-5 days... The doctor confirmed I had mono and told me not to lift heavy things. I told him not only did he slack off from telling me my results, but he put me at risk since I was working as an EMT heavy lifting is required. I got no apology from anyone. This place was sketchy. I'll never go back there. Please go somewhere credible!!! read more

After a fall my mom here for care. She fell and busted her head open in two places. Blood running down her face, I understand the given epidemic we are facing with the Covid-19 virus and completely understand all precautions that need to be taken. We where ask to not step inside and wait outside. A secretary came outside and asked what we needed, after explaining the fall, as if was not obvious they turn us away. Didn't even offered a bandaid, I asked If they were other urgent care nearby seeing patients they just brush is of and responded that they didn't know. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. read more

Avoid this facility at this time, they are barely practicing social distancing, have no control over those coming and going, the line outside waiting for testing were on both occasions we went, confused about where to stand, who is waiting for what etc, inside the premises were dirty and crowded. We thought if there was a place to get Covid it would be here, and that is what apparently occurred to my wife and I. The owner and business manger of Essen/Metro UrgiCare should be taken to task for being more interested in generating revenue from the pandemic than truly providing a social service. I went to another Urgent Care place on Friday, December 24, 2021. By now I am really sick when I walk into the place they test me for the flu and they do a rapid test for me for Covid. I came back positive for Covid I was in shock I was in shock so like I said in my first review I know that guy had the swab open when I went there to the urgent care place on Riverdale Avenue. I don't know if I got something from there but my sickness started after I left that urgent care place so now I was tested positive for Covid on December 24 and it was like..A merry Christmas to me! After I left that urgent care the second urgent care place that I went to and they told me that I was positive so now they're calling in a prescription for me by the way I got there at 6:30 in the morning had to wait online it was crazy but they told me they will call in a prescription for me. I got a call from the pharmacist saying that they were out of the medicine and I was like oh my god what am I supposed to do? I ended up having to go to CVS and had to have my prescription transferred over there I mean it was just horrible the whole ordeal I didn't get back into my house until 4 o'clock in the afternoon and I was sick it was just awful! read more

The absolute worst urgent care facility I have ever been in!! The service was horrible and our wait time was over three hours, with only three people in the waiting area. There is only one doctor and medical assistant seeing patients, so no wonder the wait time was ridiculous. Went in because i had to have a physical done and i was in and out in about 20 minutes. Got a call back the next day, my results were in surprisingly even though they said it would take 2 to 3 days. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, they answered all of my questions and i didn't feel rushed. Will highly recommend. read more

Went there 8:00 morning with my daughter she wasn't feeling well nurse took us inside checked her vitals etc did a strep test after waiting forty minutes she came back in to tell me there is no doctor coming in and don't know when he/she will becoming told me will call when doctor arrives it 6:30 pm and I am still waiting for the phone call. Horrible but I bet they will bill the insurance. Went to city md they were awesome clean and friendly. Never go to this Urgent Care. I sat and waited for three hours on a Sunday, I waited to be called. Then I waited in the room. Finally I was seen by someone in a white coat don't think it was a doctor. Was told the nurse would come in to do a culture, after waiting some time I put my coat on and waited outside, then I saw the person with the white coat and told them I was waiting again. She went to the back and got the nurse. So I've been out of work for 4 days and have been calling for my results since Tuesday like I was instructed. No results, every time I call I get a different story. The results are not in, we can't give them to you over the phone, we'll call you right back, now I was told the results take 3 to 5 days. What's the point of getting test results 5 days later. Too late for any antibiotics. read more
